The Anderson County Library System Newsletter

August 2019

Getting Ready for Back to School Summer is winding down which means school will be back in session soon. The Anderson County Library System has loads of resources for school projects. From elementary to high school and beyond, we have you covered. Your library card is all you need to check out books on just about any topic from any of the system’s ten locations. Through SCLends, you can also put specific titles on hold from 18 other library systems in the state, which means you have easy access to over 2.75 million items. It only takes a few business days for an item from outside the county to travel to an Anderson County Library location. If you need more sources for your school projects, take a look at our databases. We have databases for all ages including CultureGrams, which has detailed facts on countries and states; MasterFILE Premier, where you can research any topic using newspaper and magazine articles; and Biography in Context, for information on famous figures from the past and present. Find all of our databases

by going to andersonlibrary.org and clicking the Research tab. For exam prep, teens can get the skinny on how to access PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP review material and practice tests at 5:00pm on Tuesday, August 13 at Anderson Main. Registration is encouraged. Call (864) 260-4500 ext. 114 or stop by the Reference Desk. If you want to learn something new or brush up on your skills, Universal Class connects you with a real teacher so you can get feedback along the way. It has over 500 courses to choose from including math, Adobe Photoshop, and creative writing. We also have a variety of in-person computer classes held at Anderson Main ranging from Microsoft Word to Intro to Facebook. See page 3 for more details. Call or stop by any Anderson County Library location for assistance in finding information on the shelves or in databases.

All locations will be closed on Monday, September 2 for Labor Day. STORYTIMES
