The winter holidays can be a hectic time for many people, and what better way to de-stress than to cozy up to a good book and read. To encourage reading over the holidays, we are introducing a winter reading challenge for all ages: 20 minutes a day of reading for 20 days between December 9 and January 5. Just as the library’s Summer Reading program encourages building the habit of reading during the school year break, the Winter Reading program encourages the habit of reading as a daily practice. Reading daily can help keep minds healthy, increase memory skills, analytical thinking and concentration, as well as reduce stress. Reading 20 minutes a day for kids can help curb learning loss and keep young minds engaged

So take time for yourself this holiday season, cozy up to a good book, and join the Anderson County Library’s Winter Reading challenge. Don’t know what to read next? Get recommendations from library staff or pick up a reading list for genres, award-winning books, and more. All reading counts - whether a book, audiobook, magazine, or comic book.
