Cozy Up To A Good Book
Winter Reading Challenge Winter is a great me to curl up under a blanket and cozy up to a good book. The Winter Reading Challenge is a fun way to take me to read this December. The challenge is easy, too: read 20 minutes a day for 20 days between December 13 and January 7. Just as the Library’s Summer Reading program encourages building the habit of reading outside of school, the Winter Reading program encourages the habit of daily reading. Reading every day is beneficial for everyone. It keep minds healthy; increases memory skills, analycal thinking, and concentraon; and reduces stress. Reading even 20 minutes a day for children builds literacy skills and keeps young minds engaged during holidays and extended breaks from classrooms. To parcipate, pick up a tracking form from any library locaon, the Bookmobile, or online. Mark each day that you read for at least 20 minutes, then turn the sheet in at any library by January 7. Every child (up to age 12) that completes their reading will receive a Winter Reading Cerficate, a small prize, and Texas Roadhouse voucher while supplies last. Teens (ages 12-18) and adults (ages 18+) will be entered into gi card drawings. Remember, all reading counts, whether that’s listening to audiobooks on Libby, reading magazines on Flipster, or finally tackling War and Peace. Don’t know what to read next? Library staff are happy to provide reading lists for a variety of genres, award-winning books and more.
