Electric City Creative and Gambrell Teen Room Reopening

Have you wanted to try your hand at sewing, or needed to use professional design software for a personal or professional project? Now you can with the Anderson County Library System’s new makerspace, Electric City Creative. Get a first look at this new space Saturday, February 16 from 1:00-3:00 pm. The Jonathan Gambrell Teen Room has expanded to include Electric City Creative - a space for tweens, teens, and adults to explore new technology, access professional quality applications, and collaborate on projects. Located on the second floor of the Anderson Main Library, experienced users and novices alike will find the latest tools for graphic design, audio recording, and video editing alongside low-tech maker equipment for multiple kinds of projects. Electric City Creative also has room for play with the latest Virtual Reality (VR) and gaming consoles. A reimagined space for creating, collaborating, and learning, the space also has a teen-centered focus as the Jonathan Gambrell Teen Room, which has been providing a safe, fun place for teens after school for over 10 years. Programs for teens range from an anime club,

gaming, robotics and other tech activities, as well as programs throughout Summer Reading. Now, Electric City Creative provides the space and tools needed for an array of creative projects. For high-tech or digital projects, use state-of-the-art software for multimedia content, including the Adobe Creative Cloud suite; shoot, manipulate, and edit photos with a green screen, camera and lighting equipment; and record and edit audio. For hands-on projects, use the Sizzix die cutter, Silhouette Cameo 3 vinyl cutter, Brother sewing machine, button maker, and more. While some tools have minimal materials costs, Electric City Creative is free to use. Appointments are available Mondays and Fridays to use specific equipment and drop in during Open Create on Thursdays when items will be available on a first come, first served basis. Be sure to check our website for scheduled workshops. For more information, visit our website at www.andersonlibrary.org, on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, or call the Anderson Main Library at 864-2604500 x126.

All locations will be closed Monday, February 18 for Presidents’ Day STORYTIMES page 2
