Virtual Storytime Featuring a song, story, and rhyme, storytime videos are published each Monday morning on Facebook. Find past storytimes on YouTube. Early Literacy Tips Every other week, Youth Services staff share an easy game or activity for you and your little one to develop early literacy skills. Published every other Tuesday on Facebook, or find past Early Literacy Tips on YouTube.

Valentine’s Love Bird Take ‘n Make Craft Starting February 2, pick up a special Valentine’s Take ‘n Make craft for kids to make an easy, fun love bird. Available at all Anderson County library locations. Also available for curbside pickup. While supplies last. Project Feederwatch Be a citizen scientist! Stop by the Children’s Courtyard at the Main Library any Friday or Saturday through April 9 and participate in FeederWatch. If you see any birds at the bird feeders, identify them with our poster or the Merlin app, write down your findings on our tally sheet, and receive a free pair of kid-friendly binoculars (one per child, while supplies last). When you’re done, ask our librarians for the bird beak activity or bird coloring sheets. In April, we’ll report all our findings to Cornell University, which sponsors this program. Creative Crafters: Mudcloth Inspired Canvas Art Check our Facebook starting February 9 for a quick and easy tutorial to make mudcloth inspired small canvas art. Supplies will be in the Take & Make kit available at the beginning of February. Email adultprograms@ andersonlibrary.org for availability and details. Take ‘n Make Craft: Paper Story Quilts The February Take ‘n Make craft features the historical practice of story quilting. For this craft you’ll follow the specific pattern of “The African Queen” with paper decorated with traditional Twi patterns from Ghana. Glue may be needed but is not included. Kits are available at the Anderson Main Library while supplies last. Available at other libraries or for curbside pickup upon request. Email adultprograms@andersonlibrary.org.

TWEENS: DIY BIRD FEEDER

It’s time for the Great Backyard Bird Count! February 1215th people from all over the world will participate in this Citizen Science project! Starting February 8th, tweens (ages 8-12) can pick up a DIY Bird Feeder Grab N Go bags from the Main Library, or contact us and we’ll send it to your local branch. Questions? Poetry Contest The Anderson County Library will be taking submissions for the 8th annual Poetry Contest February 15 through March 19. • Government-issued picture ID; • Social Security Cards for all household members listed on the return; • Proof of income, (W-2, 1099 MISC, 1099 INT, 1099 DIV, Social Security benefit statements, unemployment insurance), including cash; • Proof of Health Insurance for all persons listed; • Dependent Income information; • Receipts for any deductions you plan to claim (property taxes, mortgage interest, education expenses, daycare expenses); • Copy of last year’s return; • Bank routing and account numbers for direct deposit of refunds. If you file “Married Filing Jointly,” you and your spouse together count as one filer. Both spouses must be present to sign a joint return. If your spouse is unable to be with you, you will need to bring a power of attorney form or notarized letter in order to sign his/her name on the return. The volunteers are not able to prepare returns for people with foreclosures or who are enrolled in mortgage relief programs.
