MIAMI ARTS & ACADEMY SENIOR HIGH It is said that a good teachers and motivated students can overcome unsatisfactory facilities and carry out at a high level almost anywhere, but a well-designed facility can truly improve performance and make education a more enjoyable and rewarding experience. Learning is about creating connections with the student and teachers as well as the community. Stimulating one reflection toward the school and learning to collaborate with one another.

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SANTA BARBARA ENVIRONMENT & HISTORY CENTER Beyond the “eradication of negative environmental impact”, sustainable design must generate projects that are meaningful innovations that can shift behavior. Research begins with an idea. As that idea evolves, it moves through a process of filtering, which narrows the hypothesis to a concise solution.

MIAMI ARTS & ACADEMY SENIOR HIGH The community must have some kind of connection to the facility or an involvement that has them believing that the school belongs to them. Student’s exhibition work by the entrance can create a dominant statement about the learning mission of the school. Student work doesn’t have to be just paper held to the walls. In fact, students can display sculpture on the entrance or courtyards.
COOLING & HEATING Cooling is provided by two types of natural ventilation: operable windows oriented to prevailling winds and solar power fan. Proper use of day lighting may be the single most essential tool in crafting enriched learning environments. When combined with high performance glazing and automated electric lighting controls it also contributes to considerable energy savings.
DAYLIGHT PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION The idea that a number of students will learn the same thing at the same time from the same person for several hours each day is not right. You must give student variety in a room, open space or shifting furniture can be one of the solutions.
Daylight can be presented in to the facility in several ways — counting windows, skylights and light shelves. This goes back to easily cooling the facility with overhangs but also have some kind of light shelves that redirect the natural lighting into the building and eliminate the use of artificial lighting.
Furniture Soft seating can remove some tension that students feel. A comfortable environment is more satisfying than an uncomfortable one.
MUSIC & ARTS It is said that the arts can play a big part in the developing intellectual development of the student. That it can broaden the understanding and appreciation of the world around them.
Individual Storage Even though our memories are tied up with them, it is time to have fewer lockers on the hallway. Lockable storage would be on each classroom or better yet have desk with storage built in.
LEARNING STUDIO Traditional classroom is more linear and just has meek seating areas and teachers seating. There is no room for easygoing seating for breaks or have an active zone that showcase students work. Flex space are only seen in college level were these spaces are used to present individual work to former classmates. The new facility will space the classroom so that it attempts to promote learning by breaking linear rooms. It will be considered as the new modular classrooms as well as maintaining the school needs.
PROJECT DESIGN The school highlights creative classroom, outdoor education, safety and sustainable feature. The facility will be innovative as it will stretch the boundaries of education. This facility incorporates a number of energy efficient sustainable design strategies. The most substantial of these is the extensive green roof, which bears total coverage of the facility.
Solar Control Celoscreen Sun Louvers allow for views out and ventilation through while blocking glare and avoiding heat gain. The central space consists of a frosted glass material that allows natural light to pentrates but diffuses it to an extent that reduces heat gain.
ENTRY - Schematic Design Photoshop How come many schools are design to look the way they do today? A simple box with simple openings, almost prison like cookie-cutters which does not even pretend to be clearly aimed at the community. Thier is a need for some changes. Many schools are designed or developed nowadays with considerable dependency on the building specification and on design guidelines which leaves any room for any kind of real creativity among the designer. Designer are obligated to use the standards of school design, therefore they mostly appear like cookie-cutters.
ABOUT The programmatic makeup of this building, coupled with its primary circulation artery, follows this same process. Patrons are drawn into the facility by a wide, welcoming circulation artery, covered in permeable pavers (representative of the beginning of an idea, broad and bold) at the North West corner of the building. This path creates a central outdoor corridor which flows all the way through to the plaza. As one experiences this path, it can be noted that the research process is actively taking place on both sides of the corridor. It becomes more and more refined as one reaches the plaza while the path simultaneously becomes narrower. The basic program of the spaces along the path also follows the research process, beginning with the lecture hall (the presentation of ideas and theories), followed by the children and adult classrooms and laboratories (the experimentation and testing phase), and ending with the plaza space.
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA SANTA BARBARA Symbolizing the facility as a bridge between the mountains of the north and the ocean of the south, these rise successively from south to north and appear as a series of rising hills. As they rise, each roof is “cracked” with an operable clerestory window, the orientation of which is based upon prevalent west/south-west winds to take advantage of natural ventilation. The overhangs of each roof are based upon sun angles to minimize direct lighting to the interior spacing and maximize indirect.
STRATEGY 1
leed des ign
Coupled with a perforated louver system, these N/W and S/E facing, low-e double glazed walls provide optimal views without high heat gain or direct sunlight. To aid in reducing this direct light (and to add thermal resistance to the envelope) the entire facility was sunk several feet below grade, reducing the amount of exterior vertical glazing prone to direct sunlight exposure.
STRATEGY 2 GLAZING
Glazing makes up about half of each interior space’s wall surface and, with the addition of light wells, each space is naturally lit for all daytime hours.
Another primary energy saving strategy was the utilization of rammed earth for all southwest facing walls that bear heavy sun exposure during peak heat gain hours. Each rammed earth wall overhangs its adjacent/perpendicular glazed wall to minimize direct sunlight into the interior.

Phase 1 The sofa bed was chosen for the purpose that the client had a 1 bedroom apartment and needed a solution to have his friends or relatives come to visit. This is a perfect way to have a living room space as well as a bedroom hidden from everyone.
Phase 2 Opening mechanism with gas pistons. Lifting of the lower bed by a rotation movement, with supporting ladder and protection bar.
Phase 3 Bed base with frame in enforced tubular iron and slates in multilayered bent beech wood fixed to the frame with adjustable gaskets made of nylon/rubber.

DOC Sofa Bed A SOFABED THAT DOES DOUBLE DUTY, Mobelform’s Doc folds out into not one, but two twin sized beds stacked one atop the other: in short, a bunk bed. Included are the necessary mattresses as well as a ladder and short rail to prevent mid-night tumbles.
.
ABOUT Design by Giulio Manzoni The Space Saving Systems from Resource Furniture are modular programs that utilize patented transformable technology to transform any space from day use to night use and back. The system is both versatile and multifunctional.
In the bunk bed version it is compulsory to put the ladder in the duly vertical position, because it has function of support and it avoids as well that the upper bed flaps.

ABOUT The design develops a network of public green spaces derived from the continuation of street and block patterns. Embracing the existing infrastructure around the site will provide a connection with the neighboring residents. Construction of the new parallel running streets and vehicular traffic around the site has created an implied wall that is blocking the environment from the surrounding neighborhoods. These green pathways through the city will unite the neighborhood by encouraging pedestrian traffic throughout the site and around the surrounding areas. Integrated parks will serve the district by creating an environment that will promote community interaction.
GALLERY EXHIBITIONS The green space continues through the site allowing for mixed use buildings and outdoor marketplaces to border the open green spaces. The green parks allow for multiple uses providing space for concerts, galleries, and exhibitions.
MARKET These market areas embrace the strong culture and historic tradition of Beijing’s Dashilan District. The open outdoor markets will provide a successful alternative to the current crowded alley market places. This being a positive influence on the area bringing people from all over the city to enjoy a sustainable shopping experience
Market The open outdoor markets will deliver an effective alternative to the crowded market it currently is. This will allow some venders to have seating for their client as they wait for their meals.
Meditation Space Small structure located in various places near water or green spaces is an ideal way to relax or practice early exercise.
Recreational Urban open space is often appreciated for the recreational opportunities it provides. Time spent in an urban open space for recreation offers a reprieve from the urban environment.
Public Health Recent advances has prompted many cities to move away from artificially penurious designs, to mosaic environments, which permit full recreational use but maintain higher levels of biodiversity and hence deliver greater benefits to human well-being.
.
DISSECTING DASHILAN Progressive Integration of Urban Green Space The aesthetic value of urban open spaces is self-evident. People appreciate viewing nature, mainly when it is otherwise widely deprived, as is the circumstance in urban environments. Therefore, open space suggest the value of relieving gray infrastructure.

ABOUT More than 55 years ago, a group of concerned animal lovers joined together to organize The Humane Society of Chatham-Savannah, Inc. In February 1985, the Humane Society was incorporated under the laws of the State of Georgia. In January 2010, we changed our name to The Humane Society for Greater Savannah - to more accurately describe our area of service. All funding of The Humane Society for Greater Savannah is by private donation from individuals, businesses, trusts and foundations; bequests; special events; grants; and from the proceeds of our “Pick of the Litter Thrift Shop.
PET HOUSE Dog is viewed as the best friend of Human. Some people treat those four-legged friends as their family members, eat together, and sleep together. Cats are respected by humans for companionship and ability to hunt vermin and household pests. As a group we decided to support the humane society of greater savannah in contributing our time and drawing experience to design homes for our four-legged friends.

WINDOW PLAN DETAIL WOOD FRAMES ARE THICKER THAN ALUMINUM OR STEEL FRAMES, BUT THEY ARE ALSO MORE EFFECTIVE AS THERMAL INSULATORS. THE FRAMES ARE USUALLY OF KIN-DRIED, CLEAR, STRAIGHT-GRAIN WOOD, FACTORYTREATED WITH A WATER-REPELLANT PRESERVATIVE. THE WOOD MAY BE STAINED, PAINTED, OR PRIMED FOR PAINTING ON SITE. TO MINIMIZE THE NEED FOR MAINTENANCE, THE MAJORITY OF WOOD FRAMES ARE NOW CLAD WITH VINYL OR BONDED TO ACRYLIC-COATED ALUMINUM SECTIONS THAT REQUIRE NO PAINTING.
CLUB DEPORTIVO OLIMPIA PRACTICE FACILITY The idea was to have a detachable miniature arena that they can take anywhere with ease in the occasion that the stadium is being used by other clubs or events. Club Deportivo Olimpia is a Honduran Football and baseball club based in Tegucigalpa. They compete in the Liga Nacional de Honduras, the top division in the country, and play their home matches in the Estadio Tiburcio Carias Andino.

TWISTED TOWER MAYA demonstrate the idea that a form can be constant only to have the faรงade alternate or the skeleton of the building. It ranges from a typical building structure, birds nest and a weaving pattern.
SKETCH IDEA
BEAM STRUCTURE
A claw is made of hard protein called keratin. Keratin refers to a family of fibrous structural proteins. It is that where I decided to have an open structural beam to represent the complexity and strength of the lion claw. The lion claws are the inspiration of constructing the beam structure.
This detachable arena was to be very light and modular base in case they decide to add a few more on the area. The roof is made of Teflon cloth for easy folding and the beam structure is a LiteSteel beam. The innovative, patented cold forming process gives LSB a unique profile with the torsional rigidity you would normally expect from hot rolled steel.
LSB Advantages *Lightweight - easy to lift & place *On average up to 40% lighter than hot rolled steel or engineered wood
Light Steel Beam It can be carried like a wood beam and can be cut, nailed, screwed, and drilled on site using the same tools you currently use.
Thermal The warmed structures and plants inside the greenhouse re-radiate some of their thermal energy in the infrared spectrum, to which glass is partly opaque, so some of this energy is also trapped inside the glasshouse.
Uses
CAR SHOW DISPLAY The theme is to addresses society’s shift toward minimizing consumption of the earth’s resource without sacrificing the styling consumers demand. Imagine you could present to your visitors vast amounts of the most complex information that you cared most about, in all its subtlety and depth. The Interactive Digital Wall is an ideal display that combines a bold printed background with a glowing user-movable high resolution LCD display that is irresistible to visitors of all ages.
.
GREEN HOUSE The idea was to harness that sun ray and help farmers grow crop during the harsh cold winters. The structure with different types of covering materials, such as a glass roof and frequently glass or plastic walls; it heats up because incoming visible solar radiation from the sun is absorbed by plants, soil, and other things inside the building. Air warmed by the heat from hot interior surfaces is retained in the building by the roof and wall.
Greenhouses protect crops from too much heat or cold and help to keep out pests.

Balance
PEDIATRIC OUTPATIENT CENTER After the evaluation is made by a rehabilitation team consisting of professional staff, including a doctor, physical therapist, occupational therapist, and prevocational and vocational instructor the individual rehabilitation program is set up and training is provided for the purpose of re-entry into society.
Balance was the method used for the mass of the building but as an alternative of a seamless mirror image the building was split in half as one side was shifted upward to the north axis and the other half to the south axis. Symmetry is the correspondence in size, shape and position of parts on opposite sides of a dividing line or axis. If a line is drawn on the axis, either in plan or in elevation, one half of the building could be reproduced as a mirror image of the other half. Use of symmetry is one method for creating balance.

GOLDEN BEACH RESIDENCE This project required the installation of a private home theater plus the development of the A/V systems throughout all areas of this high-end luxury residence. Among the design considerations were rich woods and fabric elements, which were combined for optimum acoustics as well as for elegant aesthetics. The lighting design was of high importance and incorporated into the fully controlled, dimmable touch panel systems. To truly call your home theater a theater you have to use a high definition video projector and no front projection setup is complete without a proper projection screen. With sizes ranging from 60-inches to the sky’s the limit, projection screens are more than just a smooth white surface for which to project an image on. Today’s modern projection screens employ state of the art materials, ambient light rejecting technology, auto-masking, 3D compatibility and more.

Speakers can be inconspicuously built right into the walls with either paint or wallpaper applied right over them. A family portrait, or favorite painting can be sent into a company to be transferred onto a special canvas that will remotely roll down discreetly hiding a large plasma, surrounded by a frame of your choice. Blackout shades are custom made to your specifications to not only offer you aesthetically pleasing window treatments, but to also serve as part of your theater’s optimal lighting design.
LIGHTING CONTROL An integrated lighting system is essential. Instead of merely turning the lights on or off when you enter or leave a room, an entire system can be installed and programmed to fit your desired lifestyle.
