HOW SHE WEARS IT
LETTER TO THE CLIENTS
Dear Clients,
The best part about traveling has always been the chance to experience cultures very different from our own. However; through globalization, use of the internet, and excessive documentation of experiences, humans have surely shrunk the world. Today, traveling is used less as a chance to discover other cultures, and more of a chance to discover the self. More and more, the culture in the east and west are turning to the general ideas from one another as a way to balance their own culture. Young adults today are more religiously unaffiliated than ever, with a massive inclination to pull away from the spirituality with which they were raised. At the roots of this trading of cultures lies basic ideas which translate through art; and of course, fashion. The color stories of zen minimalist, sunshine, global pop, and diminishing illustrate the way that the shrinking world is communicated through art and fashion. Open your minds, look to the future, and imagine a world where culture is a personal experience.
Thank you for reading. Enjoy!
Best Regards, Andrea McCarrel
zen minimalist
This theme highlights organic shapes and colors. The Zen Minimalist subculture describes a western longing for simplicity, clear-mindedness, and zen within daily life. This theme visually represents the stability and balance gained through yoga, meditation, and other zen practices. Visually, the trend contains lighter natural colors with pops of purples, blues, and pinks. While not always symmetrical; this look contains silhouettes with clean lines. Subtle eastern silhouette elements are integrated into this look; such as kimono sleeves and capes. The shapes within this trend depend much more on drapery and looser, more easy-going styles.

sunshine The second theme derives from nature, eastern elements, and historical cultural visuals. Floral colors, tapestries, and eastern silhouettes come into play for this theme. Literal silhouettes such as kimonos, beaded ponchos, and caped sleeves are important to this trend. Deeper colors in elaborate prints are utilized to execute this idea.

global pop The Global Pop theme derives from the upcoming affect that Korean Pop and Japanese Pop will have in the world. However; when we look to these artists today, we see they are visually driven and dressed by western ideas, images, and trends. The cultural shrinkage is shown deeply through this trend, as we see K-Pop artists performing in pop images of the west. This trend is highly graphic in nature and driven by the brightest colors of the trends discussed.

diminishing
This theme focuses in on images of diminishing tribes around the world. Earth tones are integral to this trend. Fur and feathers are a couple of materials commonly used within this theme. The styles derive from said endangered tribes, while pairing modern ideas along with the original ideas. Beauty within this trend is extremely minimal and natural. Light, natural, earth tones are important to mix with more neutral shades.
