Mosaic Park Gainesville, FL
Conceptual Design Mosaic Park is a conceptual park for Gainesville adjacent to the University of Florida campus. Situated in one of the most prominent intersections of the university, the park would serve as a gateway into Gainesville and the University of Florida for students new to the town which would recall images Florida, such as pine hill ecosystems of North Florida, as well as the urban tropical design of South Florida. The park also aimed to engage the community offering a large chalkboard wall for community self expression, similar to other spaces in Gainesville that provide open walls for graffiti art.

Grading was developed through a rough grading of large moves in clay then refined through a grading plan and finalized in a chipboard model. The park features a large chalkboard wall made by rising landforms from the northwest inward which hug the interior plaza of the space.

Materiality and Place Cade Museum sits besides an old railroad station, the power plant, and a newly built remediated park, creating a dichotomy of old hard industrial history with a new soft park use. To demonstrate this sense of place, I, along with the Littlejohn team, developed a plant palatte and hardscape details that spoke to the industrial past and park future of the site creating a dichotomy of hard and soft, while creating a sustainable low water, Florida friendly site.

In conjunction with Littlejohn Engineering Associates as part of extended internship. Roles primarily in 3D modeling, detail development and drafting.
New & Authentic The Yard is a mixed-use urban infill project located north of downtown Orlando, positioned next to railroad tracks and a vibrant arts/antiques district of Ivanhoe Village. In this site, the team aimed to incorporate the vibrant and industrial character of the area while bringing in new uses and addressing sustainability. Design needed to address both residential uses as well as commercial uses while retaining a cohesive vision. Much of the design is inspired by or uses actual existing structures on site including warehouse structures and silos to give the site an authentic feel.

Tools of Communication Black-and-white construction plans provide a vast amount of information regarding a site and its construction, but they can fail in communicating with those outside of the fields of construction and can be difficult to visualize as built experiences. Graphic interpretation is very important in insuring that we are delivering the best design to clients and communities so that the designs fit their needs. Graphics are not just pretty pictures, they convey information and experience about a space that does not yet exist. They allow the world to see what we in our mind’s eye imagine.

CLINICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH BUILDING (CTRB) PLAN Class exercise Drafted in CAD Rendered in Photoshop
23|CTRB
Gainesville, FL Healing Spaces The Clinical and Translational Research Building (CTRB) created the perfect opportunity for a therapeutic garden in its courtyard. The center focuses on both clinical research and its application and many of its patients are elderly. The space incorporated both therapeutic gardens with stimulant colors and fragrances, and stimulating hardscapes including reflexology paths and rainsplash boulders for the building gutters. This courtyard garden was to provide both healing effects from both within the garden and looking in.

Ecological Intervention With a Central Florida stream at its focus, this project aims to capture the variant system of streams which cyclically flood and retreat year after year. The intervention consists of a man-made plot of land and creates an interpretive observation deck featuring plants from Central Florida stream ecosystems which respond to the hydric conditions of the river. The goal of this design is to bring the user closer to Floridian hydric systems so that they may better understand how these systems work and how they may approach their own homes and yards adjacent to streams to attract wildlife and allow for the system to function.
