Andreas Aas was born in Fredrikstad, Norway, in 1971, where he got his bachelors degree from Cristianslund Vidergående Skole in 1990.

In 1991 andreas aas moves to France, where he starts to study architecture

in 1994 at l’Ecole d’Architecture Paris la Seine. he finalised his education in Paris at l’Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture in 2002, where he later graduated as a DESA architect.

Alongside his studies, andreas aas develops various furniture designs, and he was selected by the Via in 1997 to present his work at the Paris furniture fair. from 1998 his designs are regularly exposed in various exhibitions and galleries.

Andreas aas presently works between Fredrikstad (Norway) and Paris as an architect and furniture designer, mostly on private commissions.

In Milan, Andreas Aas will show: 01_Floor-lamp An independent battery-driven reading lamp with a minimal footprint on the ground, and easy adjustment and positioning from its flexible arm.

Interchangeable lamp-fixtures ensures that the lamp can be adapted to nearly every type of environment, as it does not require an electric outlet.

The floor-lamp delivers only the necessary amount of light for reading by means of an adjustable LED light-source (non heating light-emitting diodes).

02_Lounge chair Made out of thin custom aluminium honeycomb panels, the design and the weight of the lounge-chair is reduced to its minimal expression.

Despite its very slim profile, the seating remains comfortable with a thin underlying visco-elastic cushion under the coated pvc seating fabric.

03_Low table A low table made out of three different types of profiles in wood or in lightweight fiber concrete. The assembly of the profiles ensures a very sturdy construction, at the same time as it visually appears fragile and lightweight.

03_Suspension lamp A small suspension lamp with an optimised glass diffuser. The size of the lamp have been reduced in relation to its custom light diffuser optics. The lamp is small in size, and big in light diffusion.

BreadedEscalope is the ambiguous name of a design studio based in Vienna.

It was found in 2008 by Sascha Mikel, Marty Schnabl and Michael Tatschl. The group pursues strategies to create “social sustainability”.

Objects and environments shall encourage interaction, lead to communication and add a particular layer of convenience for their owners. Designing things must not end in accustomed beautification.

Products and performances evolving from their credo are statements representing the groups’ identity.

In Milan, Breaded Escalope will show: The Performance Original Products evolve from a unique process using landscape and interaction as crucial part of the formative process; Selected locations are used as production tracks. A robust, hollow orb is housing a suspended flexible mould of the stools. After filling the mould with a specific mix of resin the orb is allowed to interact with the terrain surrendered to the formative surrounding.

The rotation is always unique and the variations, subtle or manifest, are recorded by the flexing walls of the silicon mould. Thus, unique pieces are formed via serial production. The Original Stools are the consequence of the omnipresent process, and will always stay in close connection to their place of accruement; A manifestation of place & time.

Alissia Melka-Teichroew, founder and creative director of byAMT Studio, is a New World-Old World mashup. Daughter of a French mother and American father, she was born and raised in The Netherlands. A Design Academy Eindhoven graduate, she also holds a Masters from Rhode Island School of Design. After stints in Paris, San Francisco, and Boston, she now works in New York.

While developing her own projects, she also worked at IDEO and Puma.

Alissia’s transcontinental background is reflected in her fluidity and fluency of her designs. Attuned to the latest design innovations, trends, and materials, she infuses her work with her own unique, charismatic personality

Her designs are savvy, sophisticated, and witty: the archetypical Acrylic Diamond Ring rendered in candy-colored acrylic and precious metal, ceramic plates folded in easy-to-hold shapes, Handful of Plates, a Hand mirror that transposes the viewers face over an iconic image of feminine beauty.

This uncanny ability to tweak expectations has delighted design cognoscenti and consumers alike.

In Milan, byAMT Studio will show: 01_Inspired by a Milk Stool The image of crooked slats in a weathered picket fence impelled Alissia Melka Teichroew to explore the idea of asymmetrical pieces supporting each other. She found a similar kind of irregularity and balancing act in the old-fashioned one-legged milk stool. She merged the two concepts into this playful and innovative series

02_Jointed Pieces Jointed Pieces is a work in progress. Normally, a ball joint is unable to be manufactured in one piece using previous techniques like injectionmolded plastics or ceramics (it usually has to be made with separately molded pieces). ‘Jointed Pieces’ questions that problem, and finds that 3-D printing is the best way to manufacture complex forms.

Eric Berthès graduated from Ecole Boulle and ESDI (Strate College) in Paris and created his own studio in 2000. First he developed designs for home electronic devices for brands such as Packard Bell and Babyliss.

He then dedicated his creativity to luxury goods applying the knowledge he had once learnt in Boulle. Thanks to collaboration with l’Orfèvrerie d’Anjou, a traditional pewter manufactory, Eric’s contemporary designs with this old fashioned material, contributed to lead them into a modern era. After assuming the role of art director for the brand, Eric then designed an innovative collection of pure and modern objects including buckets, champagne saber and coolers, knives.

Eric now works regularly with luxury brands to create products and public spaces, such as bars and VIP corners in high end clubs (Karement Chivas in Monaco). He also designed «the triBullet» champagne casing as a tribute to James Bond for Bollinger in 2008. More recently, he created «the iTam Tam» stool/iPod dock, a china collection for Revol, a coffee service for Ercuis Raynaud, and bioethanol Chimneys. In 2010, Eric has projects with La Cornue, Ricard and Rigaud.

At last, always looking for pure envishapes that can enhance our environment Eric Berthes is permanently furnideveloping his own pieces of furniture, out of brands boundaries as the Doonut edited by Branex Design.

Creating an atmosphere of peacefulness, sculpting progress and creativity, to hold in thin air a sleek surface where anyone wishes to sit behind and focus on stimulating projects…. That’s the idea behind Carbonized, the desk Eric Berthès will perform for Meet my Project in Milan 2010.

FX Balléry is born in 1977 in the French Jura. After studying sciences, he chose to go in 1996 to the École Supérieure d’Art et de Design in Reims to become a product designer.

After winning the «Comité Colbert Jeunes Talents Award» by designing a bag for Chanel «le compagnon de voyage», he started his collaboration with Issey Miyake’s perfumes. The same year, he discovered the Royal College of Art while doing a workexperience at Ron Arad’s studio in London.

In 2000, having his degree in hands, he moved to England to do a master class in «product design» at the prestigious Royal College of Art. During two years, he enhanced his vision and practice of design by comparing

his ideas and methodology with other students from all around the world.

He won for the second time the «Comité Colbert Award» by creating a picnic set for Hermès and increased the number of studies for his clients and sponsors as BPI, Yves Saint Laurent Beauté and Pernod Ricard.

Back to Paris, he founded his studio FX Balléry Design which activity varies from product design to furniture design, packaging, merchandising, interior and industrial design.

FX Balléry is born in 1977 in the French Jura. After studying sciences, he chose to go in 1996 to the École Supérieure d’Art et de Design in Reims to become a product designer.

After winning the «Comité Colbert Jeunes Talents Award» by designing a bag for Chanel «le compagnon de voyage», he started his collaboration with Issey Miyake’s perfumes. The same year, he discovered the Royal College of Art while doing a workexperience at Ron Arad’s studio in London.

In 2000, having his degree in hands, he moved to England to do a master class in «product design» at the prestigious Royal College of Art. During two years, he enhanced his vision and practice of design by comparing

Jochem de Wit looked to the forgotten parts of the city for reference, using the chaotic and random nature of the materials. ‘for me messy urban life isn’t a doomsday scenario but rather a reason for confidence in unforeseen opportunities and a positive way of life’. the pieces are made from materials which are not necessarily clean or new like glass, clay and concrete. the result gives the individual designs a feeling of place, evoking the city streets. de Wit also explained that the intention of the project is to not be flawless, since he believes a scratch on an object is a signal of life, not a blemish.

Lindsey Adams Adelman was born in New York City in 1968. Her current work is a culmination of endlessly making things with her hands as a little girl, to receiving a BA in English Literature, to working for the Smithsonian, to finding her way to RISD to earn a BFA in Industrial Design.

An ongoing interest in combining the hand-crafted with the machinemade, the sensual with the practical, and the feminine with the masculine consistently marks her work. Adelman founded the company Butter with David Weeks in 2000 where they designed simple products for the home until 2005.

Since then Adelman has focused on her own line of hand-blown glass lighting as well as an ongoing series of drawings painstakingly crafted with strands of human hair.

The collective work has been included in the Cooper-Hewitt Design Triennial and Design Miami and has received awards from the ICFF Editors, ID, and Blueprint. It has been published in numerous magazines and books. Lindsey lives with her husband Ian and their son Finn in Brooklyn.

In Milan, Lindsey Adelman will show: The new collection for Milan 2010 conveys notions of awkward nature and the passage of time using lighting as the medium. Adelman continues to combine modernist, precisely machined fittings with organic, laborintensive mouth-blown glass in this group of locally built-to-order light sculptures. This body of work explores the concepts of aging beauty manifested visually in vintage patinas, cracking ancient gold foil, and sandblasted layers of glass, to reveal a warm glow beneath.

Zaven is a studio founded in 2004 by Enrica Cavarzan and Marco Zavagno, with headquarters in an ex-industrial space in Marghera, Venice.

Zaven carries out research into the crossover between communication, design and art, creating projects at an international level for graphics, product and exhibition design.

The studio’s energy lies in its creating partnerships and developing ideas in different fields, looking for the differential that is important for every single project in the diversity of experiences.

In Milan, Zaven will show: At Meet My Project Zaven presents a table lamp with LED technology, reinterpreting the lamp shade in its classical sense, minimizing its volume in order to contain the modern source.

The mass is concentrated at the base of the lamp to make it solid and stable. On the contrary the stem and the shade are designed slim and lightweight
