“MELAMPO” TABLE Design of a marble table for a clothes boutique in Berlin.

In June 2015 opened in Linienstrasse, Berlin Mitte, an italian boutique for woman design clothes. The designer, Mrs. Poletti, imported from Milan, her personal vision of a chic, modern and strong woman who likes to be surrounded by prestigious materials: silk, leather, feathers.... and gold, wood and marble. We’ve designed this geometrical table in order to respect the values of the brand and the space of the shop. Three powerful carved legs penetrate the slate of the table top, with no screws or glue. The joint is mechanical. The gravity strenght support the weight. The rounded shape is in opposition with

10

the squared details of the shop: frames, neon lights, piramidal shelfs, define the outline of the shop, broken suddently in the middle with the circle of the table.

MARKTPLATZ IN NEUSTADT, COBURG Landscape design competition for a square.

The large market is not working as a multifunctional space area: the slanted surfaces are squarish, only suitable for markets and festivals. The large, rectangular space is oversized compared with the adjacent facades and the park space is still not defined. The area in front of the church is incorporated in the green area around the church. The City Council finds the new functions developed at the ground floor connected directly with the new square, delimited with the church’s stairs. This “new”, revalued, space contribuite to the life of the square. The court surface is pressed down with a

long, partly in premises expiring staircase in the Extension of the town hall is formed. On the one hand arises because at the lower level, a variety of usable area, on the other hand the southern facades upstream city terrace. The staircase is characterized by traversing ramps (barrier-free) and seat levels and divided in the range of from Augustastraße incoming axis from Augustaplatz and then again broken by a long ramp. At the head side of the square, the town hall opposite, the conclusion of the course is a slightly wider terrace the conclusion of the course, with added space for the Fountain.

The transition from the square to the church park is formulated as a reference to the historical expression of the square as a distinct edge, preceded by a long bench facing the central space . The green area in front of the church shows up as soft terraced Park that can accommodate different services, as a green retreat area with views over the square for residents and visitors, as a children’s playground and finds its completion in the “Kirch Balcony”. The plane center of the square is available as a multifunctional space the trees. The tree grid of about 10m allows both the installation of market stalls and plen-

ty of space for the festivals. The north row of the trees lined up the parking spaces, which are accessibile via the traffic lane (shared space). The northern Row of trees serves as a kind of “border” between passable and not passable area. Before the adjacent buildings remains with 3-5m sufficient space for the prezones of the buildings etc. available for catering to stand. The center of the square with new court surface, trees and staircase changed in the first phase. In subsequent stages, the areas of the lane, immediately reaching the facade surfaces and can Expanded Kirch Park.

Gugghenheim Helsinki Design Competition Designing of the Guggenheim museum in Helsinki.

The Guggenheim Museum in Helsinki is a piece of architecture intended for people to enjoy the art.

seum connects the level of the harbour with that of park allowing for exhibition of large sculptures.

It doesn’t pretend to be an object of art, but rather an urban landscape responding to the Helsinki particular urban situation, its harbour, lines of exhibiting buildings and the topography of the adjacent park. The museum building is basically two stories high, arranged around a central atrium accessible from the small piazza.

Those who will come to visit the Museum should think that the building was always there.

Guest Flat in Dublner House Designing of an additional guest flat on the roof of a 60’s building.

The Dubiner House is a buildings of flats builted in 1963. It is a rapresentative element of the designig approach of Zvi Hecker in those years. In particular here the use of the geometry, with axes and shapes, is clear. The triangular-esagonal grid defines the spaces of the building, from the outside to the inside. This project contemplate the addition of a new volume on the roof, used as a guest flat and inculding some technical services already existing there. The strenght of the triangular grid keep define the costruction: following the existing walls of the roof and the three “arms”, the addiction fill the space in three longitudinal axes, two for

18

the guests flat and one for the techcnical utilities. The new addition is made by prefabricated bearing sandwich panels of the same dimension, placed following the main grid. The covering combines full covered area, for the flat, and particular textured areas, in the ending parts of the flat and in the “technical zone”. This particular texture is made alternating empty cover in correspondence of a panel, and filled cover for the skipped panel, as explained in the roof plan. On each “arms” of the new volume, will be placed solar panels on the south-easth side at the inclination of 40°.

“Istituto di Maria” Renovation of a school building in holiday home.

The project is about a recovery of an old High School for fabrics used up to 60’s and owned by the Church . The new buyer’s chose is to assign it a holiday house with 5 apartments: two per floor and one in the attic. The exterior of the building looks very monolithic , with a prismic shape made of stone, scanned regularly by openings and pilasters; only the impressive central staircase complete with a dormer window on columns, characterized differently this view. The existing structure is highly degraded, opting for a stiffening through the addition of a new scale central reinforced concrete on which will rest the new coverage with dormers. The

20

interior layout was no longer conforms to living spaces so providing a total redistribution of the environments and the addition of minimal overhanging balconies , however, that do not alter the character of the building . In fact, the exterior will be kept intact, with no changes to the shape , maintaining obviously the external masonry flaking . The central staircase outside is confirmed as the main entrance to the building but this time will be cleared through the dormer overhead and then full of his volumetric projection .

SASSI’S HOME Restructuring of a barn in a private residence.

Recovery of an old barn used as stables on the ground floor and garage and upstairs in stock with attached storage. Conversion to residential desired by the owner did not require major changes to the building: the barn has been retained to become tavern, the ground floor garage and warehouse have become an integral part of the new residence. Here have been obtained two bedrooms, a kitchen and a living room on the first floor, an attic usable with the lounge on the ground floor and a bathroom laundry room and a cellar. A highlight of this project is that it has kept the traditional character of the barn at

22

the same time modern look in detail and content. The great lights of the barn remain large windows for the living and sleeping areas, and the stone wall remains in the inside creating a warm and traditional spaces.

“Z.T.T.L.” ZONE Competition of ideas for the redevelopment of the central area of “Via Roma”.

The goal of the rehabilitation is to give an identity to the old town. The proposed solution provides a unified design for the two squares for the front of the former town hall and the park area of the theater. The floor is divided into three different functional types and materials (“stripes”) : the first, smaller width, is characterized by the presence of trees , lighting and electrical outlets in the floor disappeared and the second, intermediate width , identifies paths of soft mobility ( pedestrians and cyclists ) , and the third , larger , identifies the areas of relationship and the socializing. In a broader view , these paths become integral parts

24

of larger systems of connections between peripheral and central areas . In the vicinity of the park, the circular area adjacent to the school and with a weak urban significance, has been converted into an arena, the circle has become the reservoir of an arena that will be used for outdoor performances or projections. Another element characterized the project hypothesis is the porch, which standardize the fronts of shops present on Via Roma, providing a covered walkway. The basic element of the “portico” is composed of a tubular metal structure 4 meters high so as not to obscure the windows. On this structure engages a roof made of

semi-transparent colored polycarbonate panels supported by a metal frame . At the former Town Hall and the former knitwear factory Palmieri the project includes two multi-purpose halls . The proposed architectures are “Open Offices “, or interior spaces brought outdoors. Both are grafted onto existing structures , the fountain in front of the former Town Hall and the magnolia tree overlooking the former knitwear factory , incorporating them. These spaces are intended to be “ Hub “ , a network of places where entrepreneurs, creative professionals can supply useful reports, be inspired by the work of others and identify market opportunities in a continuous virtuous circle.

VIA ALBONE 2 Interior desig project for a private house.

The interior design project involved the design of the main rooms of the house. The living room, the “pivot” of the house, was divided into two functional spaces through a glass wall that comes alive with the words and notes of the owner. The colors chosen for the walls and the furnishings are chocolate brown and sage green: these colors are reflected in the curtains, the furniture elements and in the walls that need to have “character.” The kitchen takes up the brown living room and remains neutral in most of the components, only a wall-board will be the animated part of the dining area. Although the study upstairs sees a wall full

of color on the bottom and the metal sheets fluttering to the entrance; was here reused an old wooden table that in contrast to the other pieces of furniture creates an appealing contrast but not excessive.

“VIA TURRI: THE NEIGHBOURHOOD AS A REGENERATIVE OPPORTUNITY FOR THE CITY. Thesis project: urbanistic and architectural renovation.

The problems that emerged from the urban study is a discontinuity in the connecting paths , a high population density and a strong typological and morphological heterogeneity. The project aims to bring integration and

to the public to support the needs of the private . The activities are distributed on the spaces of relation, easily recognizable. Two buildings were designed in this thesis : the first one that overlooks the Via Emilia, consisting of an abutting three volumes and a “tail“, connected by a walkway to the distribution system, and the second, that bounds the new square at the end of Via Paradisi, composed of a cue and a high tower . On the ground floor of both buildings have glass modules with functions of commercial and social center .

The compact and static nature of the residential blocks , is contrasted with the lightness and dynamism of a container primitive in form and matter: a wooden fence that surrounds the entire volume of residential buildings. The project reconstructs morphologically, through different types of buildings, the circuit connections and relationships that are the basis of the district and provides a unified design of cities such as track for possible future interventions . THE HOME OF THE HERBALIST Design of a herbal-medicine faculty in the university campus of Parma (IT)

The project, located in the campus of Parma, was to predict the location of a new faculty of herbal medicine. It was thus chosen to relate to the existing Faculty of Pharmacy. Has been designed a long corridor /central square from which brach the various functions. We have 3 large greenhouses containing succulent, citrus and tropical plants . On the opposite side 3 blocks provide the student residences on the ground floor and greenhouses containing aromatic plants and medicinal plants on the top floor , so as to be close to the students, the block ends with the herbs laboratories. The large building block is then continued

36

at the ends by two other buildings : the restaurant/canteen which includes the consumption of fruit and plants produced by the same faculty of herbal medicine , and on the other side the tea room, a glass case that serves as a meeting center. The entire project involves careful research of the flora to be located on-site , it has been cataloged and divided by species and type , in order to collect all the main species and an important center of research and national landmark .

“HI-RURAL” Design competition for the more beautiful house in the world.

The object of the design is a two-family dwelling . Were therefore considered the environmental and architectural traditions of the place to make the building characteristic of the genius loci . The two houses relate to the theme of the rural house , it was formally decomposed to create such an innovative and “beautiful” contemporary creation. In particular, the rural house has been maintained the building material: the brick . The brick has become a symbol of the load-bearing structural part of the building , in particular, forms a cross which “ supports “ the stairwell and the elevator. The rest of the

40

residence is enclosed by glass walls white and transparent . The texture of the brick was used to form a layer of “skin” that revolved around the ‘ building , a kind of sheath that protects the house , without ever touching it , but instead standing by side. The effect we want to create is a soft light and transform that is often found in barns. The plots are selected 6: cross gratings , gratings straw, grilled strips, grilled with a list of brick and knife side by side or orthogonal gratings and “ arrow “ .

“VERDE PO” Center of artistic experimentation.

The functional destination chosen is a center for the fine arts. The entrance is right at the beginning of the campus, tucked away from the staircase, facing on a small square . The residences are composed by small houses, in the real figurative sense, with one bedroom and a bathroom; they look out toward the river, to take from it light and “ inspiration.” The library is part of the real campus square : it is an extension of the museum / warehouse and it is inspired by the shapes. The library is spread over two full-height floors, divided in “modules“ from the stairs . The high transparency of the library al-

lows to see the library as a building of passage and communication between the old and the new . The auditorium is simply made up of two spaces: the exhibition hall, resembling the ancient hypostyle halls and absolutely transparent , and the real auditorium. The “Po” River laboratories are the “elements of culture “ of the shore as the library : all the rooms are , like in a museum , connected in succession and overlooking the river and are inspired by them . Nature also serves a vital role , it is in fact around, above and inside the laboratories through the gardens as a “ Roman domus .”
