Burkard Meyer Suurstoffi 22 Lucern 2015-2016 execution (BIM) 2 architects 30’000m 2
The office building Suurstoffi 22 was a competition, and at the moment the execution phase is going on. The building is a hybrid structure (wood + concrete), and it will be the highest wood construction building in Switzerland. Two concrete cores, with services and staircases, and the wood façade define the vertical structure, and hold the wood beams system of the ceiling. The project is composed by two volume of different height, which fit together in a unique machine. The floor plans are pretty flexible, defined just by the structure, in order to give a wide range of possibilities to the users.
At the ground floor are located all the public activities, like the foyers and a restaurant.

Burkard Meyer Suurstoffi Baufeld 1 Lucern 2015 Competition 1 architects, 1 intern 40’000m 2
The competition provides the design of the new department of the “Technical School of Luzern”, and in addition office spaces (20%) and a residential part for student dwellings (20%). Based on a previous Masterplan that defines the volumes and urban strategy, it has been decided to locate the school in the main building, offices in a secondary volume, and the student flats in the tower. The service blocks, with the auditoriums (8) have been placed in 3 main cores –gray-, as also structural concept, defining a central area –yellow- for all the representative space, and enabling to free the whole surface along the façade, where classrooms and laboratories are located, allowing a certain flexibility and continuity in the space arrangement.

Burckhardt+Partner Klybeck Areal Basel 2013-2014 Masterplan 3 architects, 1 intern 300’000m 2
Klybeck is today an industrial area in the north side of Basel. The site has an intrinsic high potential, due to the presence of infrastructures, green areas, direct access to the water; and at the meantime is in a startegic position in Basel itself, in the middle between the City and the new urban development of 3Land. The project will join these two urban sides, and simultaneously a new Promenade will connect the natural elements of the site. Besides the required program, the aim is to maintain some industrial buildings, DNA of the area, and testimony of the preexistence.

Burckhardt+Partner Nationl Suisse office building Basel 2013 Competition_1.price 2 architects, 1 intern 6’400m 2
The new office building for “National Suisse” completes an ensemble around the headquarter of the company (historic building of Basel). This ensemble creates the new NationalSuisse Campus, where the vis-à-vis situation between the project and the headquarter, will define the main entrance of it. The building rises up next to an existing building, whose structure, plans and heights will be kept. The 2 buildings work together, and the new facade will unify everything in a unique system. The project contains offices underneath, and penthouses at the top floor.

Nissen&Wentzlaff Haus Tommy Reinach (Basel) 2010 Execution Internship
A private house for a couple in Reinach, sourrounding of Basel. The building is a simple concrete volume, that finds the best orientation in the site, and opens itself to the south and the garden through two big windows. The outside rought brown concrete contrasts with the white color of the inside plaster, which gives the spaces a sobriety, emaphasized also by the clarity of the space distribution. The living area is a unique central room, with kitchen, livingroom and gardarobe. On the sides the sleeping rooms of the two spouses, with bathrooms and special rooms.

Renato Rizzi architetto Do not Fear Center Krakow 2007-2008 Competition internship
The multifunctional“Do Not FearCenter, will be the new spiritual pole of Krakow. The site is a periferical area of the city, and is an artificial plateau of 1,6 kmq, a sediment of stone, that was in the past quarried from the Crakow salt mine. The project is completely hypogeous, it doesn’t change the city skyline, but finds its origins in the ground, in the tradition. The project is composed by a church, a main square above, a theatre and all the services for piligrims. The shape of the elements has got a strong religious connotation, and also a reference in the several fortresses that surround the historical city.

Diploma Miller&Maranta Train station for the city Varese -IT- 2010 Accademia Arch.Mendrisio
The aim of the project is to unify the two existing train stations of Varese. The two train lines run on two different height levels, with a gap of 7 meters, due to the morphology of the ground. An heavy concrete roof running at the height of 12 meters, covers and connects togheter the two stations, and exploiting the natural gap, creates underneath different spaces with several atmospheres. The buiding itself with its shape, designs two new green areas, one facing the old city, the other the new-city on the hill, permitting to sew up two sides of Varese, giving also the city a new public space.

Atelier Miller&Maranta New library for the city Basel 2009 Accademia Arch.Mendrisio
A new library for Basel, in a strategic point of the city, close to the german train station. Respecting the urbanistic rules, the building is a long volume with two main levels. The ground floor is an open space, like an old covered city market, point of social interactions. This space with fragile pillars holds the upper part, an heavy machine, case of culture and knowledge: the library. The project is a unique structural machine, where the structure divides and organizes the spaces, and produces at the same time visual and spatial connections.
