Architectural Model \Solar Decathlon\ The task was to develop a 1:25 architectural model for the Solar Decathlon 2014 competition. The solar powered house prototype is being developed at VIA University College in Horsens, Denmark and Universitat Jaume I (UJI) in Castell贸n, Spain. It will be presented in 2014 in Versailles, France.

Architectural Model \Solar Decathlon\ The concept was a modular design that can be stacked horizontally or vertically, acting like a brick. It can be built as a standard single house or a block of flats formed from several “brick-houses. The house itself would also be built from separate independent modules. As it has a suspended pier foundation, the house can be built in one place or be disassembled and be moved to any other location.

Passive Multi-storey Housing \2nd Prize\ The task was to design a new energy efficient and affordable multistory building, with 1 and 2 bedroom apartments as well as a penthouse. The apartments were to be made with young residents in mind, with multiple modular arrangements and large windows. I worked on the overall concept, exterior and interior design, Outline Posters, General Plans, Elevations and Renderings.

\Spa\ Summer House The project comprises of a summer house developed on a flat sloped terrain in connection to the beach. Because of this, the goal was to give the design a “spainfluence”. On both sides of the house there are canopy lounge areas with washing facilities as well as a barbeque. The zones are divided by semi-transparent curtains.

\Forest\ Summer House Inspired by the previous “Spa” summer house, a new design was developed with a forest influence. The rusted stone brick walls are flanked by an angled roof, which extends on the wood plank terrace. The backyard has sail-like dining zones and a camping area for further out-door activities. The canopy lounges are also present.

Drawing Office /Interior Design/ The project was to convert a floor in an old building to a new office. It was destined for a small architecture firm with two drawing tables, meeting room and a reception. Staff facilitates such as a canteen, wardrobe and toilets were also necessary. Glass tables were used to give the impression of space.

2.Storey Single-family House /Concept I/ The clients wished for a modern design with renewable energy from the sun and geothermal heating. This concept proposed a simple and functional design where the glass South façade receives maximum sunlight and the north façade is ‘buried’ in the steep terrain, preventing heat loss. The eastern terrace features a roof system with integrated photo-voltaic panels.

2.Storey Single-Family House /Concept II/ A more developed concept of the “half-buried” design. The high sloping terrain allowed for a two storey design where the groundfloor is ‘buried’ below the site. In the back, the slope continues downwards, allowing for big windows with view to the natural surroundings. Simple, hard angles were used to enforce the modern look, with wood and dark gray accents.

Renewal Project The project required retrofitting a 60’s multistory building to the modern living and energy standards. It will have rentable spaces aimed at young people. The apartments had to be modern and spacious.

The design focused on integrating the building with its surrounding but updating the materials and style. The main three approaches were to keep it inexpensive, sustainable and coherent. The result is an evolution rather than a total redesign, with clean sharp form and colors that blend in the surrounding environment.

The property was built in 1968 by the “Østerbo” Vejle housing association. It is 6 storeys high and has 50 apartments.

The old roof is demolished and replaced with a duo pitched roof.

Interior space is extended with floor to ceiling bay windows for each apartment

Exterior space is extended by new and larger balconies.

The balconies are reshaped to avoid monotony and set a rhythm in the building design

Elevators for disabled are added on the North Façade. Made to contrast with the rest of the building and break the horizontal lines of the windows.

The roof is converted to a terrace based on a green roof system. Access is provided through the extended staircase.

Country house \Round house\ The project was to develop a modern-day ‘villa’ on a large terrain, featuring riding rings, horse stables, a swimming pool and a tennis court. The design adopted the shape of the terrain, which was a subtle curve. This extended to the patio as well. The wall materials have very little heat-loss, making it a low energy building.

Kindergarten /Bachelor project/ The project is an institutional development for new-born children and toddlers up to six years old. It features a large rectangular one storey space with a multitude of rooms. The interior is designed with many corners where children can hide and corridors that can serve as ‘multi-rooms’ depending on the occasion. The many rooms of the building are ‘united’ by the large sloping roof.

The classroom space is divided by the staff offices through a large corridor in the middle. In the center of the building, the common eating area is the “heart” of the building where all the children and staff meet.
