майбутнє. Саме цікаве у цієї арени ще попереду. Оскільки тут створено абсолютно все для проведення змагань будь-якого рівня. І першими грандіозними подіями стануть матчі Євро-2012 та його апофеоз – фінал турніру.

• До початку Євро-2012 залишається декілька місяців. Які почуття ви переживаєте? Почуття гордості за своїх колег та товаришів по команді, яким вдалося в найкоротший термін реалізувати такий грандіозний проект.

• Що ви можете сказати про термін реконструкції – чи все було виконано так, як було заплановано? Зараз стадіон закінчений повністю. Спочатку ми дуже хотіли відкрити НСК «Олімпійський» 24 серпня, на День Незалежності, як подарунок до 20-ліття Незалежності України. На жаль західні партнери з покрівлі нас трішки підвели. Трішки – це на два місяці. Відповідно терміни зсунулися, але це не критично.

Це знаменна подія для України не тільки як господині чемпіонату Європи з футболу 2012 року, а у цілому для історії нашої незалежної країни.

• Часто схожі об’єкти по мірі проведення реконструкції швидко зростають у ціні. У цьому сенсі «Олімпійський» не став винятком? Можна сказати, що став. Почнемо з того, що на «Олімпійський» не було навіть розроблено проекту. На момент появи команди Януковича в уряді

документів взагалі не було на повне проектування. Не було ні розрахунків, ні кошторису. Маючи досвід з «Донбас Ареною», я одразу прикинув, що стадіон коштуватиме приблизно 550 млн. доларів. Так воно і вийшло. Я хочу сказати, що стадіон у Варшаві, який на 15 тисяч менший, ніж у Києві, коштував 635 млн. доларів. Тобто у нас цілком нормальні ціни. Але за українськими законами необхідно озвучувати ціни, коли уряд приймає рішення, тільки по готовим проектам. Тому проект зростав паралельно зі стадіоном, видавалися креслення, проводилася державна експертиза. Таким чином ніякого зростання не було. Можна порахувати, розділити вартість стадіону на кількість місць – 70 тисяч, вийде приблизно вісім тисяч доларів за місце. Це цілком прийнятно.

• До речі про місця. Одна із самих насущних тем у плані майбутнього Євро – квитки на матчі. Їхнє розповсюдження, реалізація... Взагалі квитки – це виключно прерогатива та обов’язок УЄФА. Як відомо, УЄФА вже провів первинний розпродаж

квитків, розповсюджуючи квитки через Інтернет, в тому числі в Росії. Тепер, що стосується тих квитків, які продаватимуть вже після жеребкування, тобто коли буде зрозуміло, який матч буде в фонді обміну УЄФА, що створений спеціально. Слідкуйте уважно за сайтом uefa.com, який має і російськомовну версію, там все зрозуміло, точна інформація щодо змін, по обміну квитками між країнами за додатковими квотами.

• Не квитком єдиним живе уболівальник. Що ви можете сказати з приводу готелів та розміщення загалом? Є дві групи гостей нашої країни, як класифікує їх УЄФА. Зрозуміло, що це спортивні команди, журналісти, спонсори УЄФА – це так звана родина УЄФА. Для їх прийому все готово на сто відсотків. Залишається ряд три- та чотиризіркових готелів, які потрібно відкрити для усіх бажаючих.

Що залишиться українським платникам податків від чемпіонату Європи, так це сучасна інфраструктура як у повітрі, так і на землі Витрати та доходи • Стандартне, але обов’язкове питання – скільки коштуватиме українцям проведення чемпіонату Європи? Прямі витрати держави на будівництво двох стадіонів у Києві та Львові становлять близько 700750 мільйонів доларів. Все інше – інфраструктурні проекти, які мають опосередковане відношення до Євро. Тобто, я хочу сказати, що так чи інакше їх потрібно було будувати у будь-якому випадку. Якщо взяти, скажімо, готельну інфраструктуру, то тут весь тягар витрат понесли представники бізнесу, які будують готелі.

• Чи можна озвучити приблизні загальні цифри по витратах, як держави, так і бізнесу? Ні. Зараз це зробити неможливо. Перші підсумки будуть підведені в середині травня наступного року, коли будуть здані останні об’єкти, що пов’язані з чемпіонатом Європи. 12

• Чи існують з приводу цього якісь ризики? По термінах здачі ніяких ризиків немає.

• Як відомо, терміни та графіки підготовки до Євро-2012 спочатку, м’яко кажучи, не витримувались. Як вплинуло форсування цього процесу на витрати? Певна річ, самим прямим чином. Скажу так, якщо б спочатку терміни були дотримані, то все можна було б зробити дешевше приблизно на чверть. Це величезні суми. Нагадаю, що Україна отримала чемпіонат Європи у 2007 році. Потім був тривалий період політичної нестабільності. Вже пізно нарікати на попередній уряд, але багато речей не було виконано навіть у проектах, що дуже ускладнило подальшу роботу.

• Витрати, витрати... Але хотілося б поговорити і про доходи. Скільки заробить держава Україна та середньостатистичний українець на Євро? Це популярна тема – підрахунок того, скільки ми заробимо на Євро. Що залишиться українським платникам податків від чемпіонату Європи, так це сучасна інфраструктура як у повітрі, так і на землі. Візьмемо, скажімо, залізниці – це швидкісний рух поїздів між чотирма містами. Якщо брати до уваги світові стандарти, то такий залізничний пасажирський рух, який буде організовано в Україні, називається прискореним – це 160-180 кілометрів на годину. Якщо говорити про технології дійсно швидкісних поїздів – 250-300 км, то для цього потрібно будувати абсолютно нові магістралі. Це неможливо зробити за один-два роки. Проте, сьогодні українці та гості нашої країни отримають комфортабельні умови. В принципі, зі Львова до Києва можна дістатись за 4,5 години, до Харкова – за три з копійками, це швидше, ніж на літаку, ніж з Києва доїхати до Борисполя, якщо враховувати реєстрацію. Таким чином, напрямок Київ – Харків виграє у літака навіть у такому розумінні. П’ять з половиною годин до Донецька – далеченько все-таки, 700 з гаком кілометрів. У першу ж чергу на турнірах подібного роду заробляє малий та середній бізнес. Все, що пов’язано з перевезенням, готелями, ресторанами і так далі.

• А як же держава? Так, і держава – завдяки надінтенсивній експлуатації аеропортів.

Фінал зі збірною України! • З приводу аеропортів. УЄФА у першу чергу звертає увагу на авіаційний транспорт... Тому у всіх чотирьох містах, де пройдуть матчі Євро, усі чотири аеропорти нові – побудовані з нуля. У Борисполі були термінали, але головний термінал також побудований з нуля. Львівський аеропорт, Харківський і Донецький. Так що тут ніяких проблем нема.

• Як щодо пропускної здатності? Проходження прикордонного контролю? У новому терміналі в Борисполі одночасно працюватимуть 80 так званих passport point. Тобто точки для проходження паспортного контролю. Трохи менше їх буде у донецькому, львівському та харківському аеропортах – по 60. Ми ні в якому разі не допустимо, щоб накопичувались серйозні черги.

• Оскільки ми говоримо в тому числі і про Бориспіль – звідти дорога до Києва знаходиться на реконструкції. Все йде за планом? Звісно. Терміни здачі намічені на грудень-січень, переносити які ніхто не збирається. До речі, якщо говорити в цілому, то, звісно, хотілося доріг зробити побільше.

• Існує думка, що деякі об’єкти Євро-2012 необхідні лише безпосередньо для Євро-2012 і у першу чергу це стосується готелів. Просто кажучи, що потім робити з порожніми номерами? Покажіть мені людину із бізнесу, яка вкладає гроші просто так. Є європейський та світовий досвід організації та проведення подібних турнірів, все пораховано, в тому числі і для готельного бізнесу. Можете мені повірити, що у Києві пустих готелів точно не буде. У столиці давно і досить гостро відчувається реальна нестача готельних номерів. Що стосується Харкова чи того ж Донецька, то там ситуація, звісно, складніша. Щоб вирішити її, необхідно просто регулярно проводити у цих містах різні спортивні та культурні заходи, насичувати бізнес-подіями. Тим більше, що там напрацьований подібний досвід, який необхідно збагачувати.

• Скажіть, власне майбутнє ви пов’язуєте більшою мірою з політикою чи бізнесом? Не буду заглядати у віддалене майбутнє, краще скажу, що зараз мій більш ніж конкретний орієнтир – це п’ятниця, 8 червня 2012 року, коли пройде церемонія

відкриття Євро-2012. Для мене принципово важливо, щоб після його завершення якомога більше гостей залишило Україну з хорошими враженнями та позитивними емоціями. Потрібно чітко розуміти, що проведення чемпіонату Європи у країні, по-перше, яка немає досвіду з організації турнірів такого масштабу, а по-друге, не маючи відповідної інфраструктури, несе в собі великі ризики. Тому у мене особисто, а також у всієї команди, присутня гордість за те, що нам вдалось їх уникнути.

Потрібно чітко розуміти, що проведення чемпіонату Європи у країні, по-перше, яка немає досвіду з організації турнірів такого масштабу, а по-друге, не маючи відповідної інфраструктури, несе в собі великі ризики • Скільки у вас триває робочий день? Після проблем із серцем лікарі настійно радили мені скоротити робочий день з 16-ти годинного хоча б на 10-ти годинний, але я не пам’ятаю, щоб пішов з роботи раніше половини дев’ятого вечора.

• Чим ви займаєтесь у вільний час, і чи є він у вас взагалі? Вільного немає, але я дотримуюсь того принципу, що зміна діяльності, як відомо, це найкращий відпочинок. У цьому сенсі мені дуже допомагає футбол і хокей.

• На яких матчах Євро-2012 ви дуже хочете побувати? Головне, щоб зайнятість не завадила бажанням співпасти з можливостями. Нічого дивного, якщо скажу, що хочу побувати на усіх матчах за участю збірної України, яка, сподiваюся, на «домашньому» Євро виступить більш ніж достойно і в турнірній боротьбі пройде якнайдалі. Вірю, що потенціал нашої команди дозволяє нам розраховувати на те, що українські уболівальники можуть побачити збірну України у фіналі чемпіонату Європи на полі НСК «Олімпійський».

• Яку оцiнку Ви можете дати НСК «Олiмпiйський» за пiдсумками матчу-вiдкриття УкраiнаНiмеччина? Вболівальники і футболісти мають дати йому оцінку. А загалом вийшло непогано. Після першого футбольного матчу необхідно організовувати інші футбольні змагання. Чим більше ми зіграємо матчів до чемпіонату Європи – тим краще. Тестові випробування будуть проводитись і цього року, і наступного навесні. Ми отримали гідний стадіон. Це – наша гордість. грудень 2011

the NSC Olimpiyskiy has a great future “Olimpiyskiy” is ready! • What means the opening of the NSC Olimpiyskiy personally for you Borys Viktorovych? This is an important event for Ukraine not only as a host country of the European Football Championship 2012, but for the history of our independent country in general. The NSC Olimpiyskiy has a rich and glorious history and I am convinced of an even more reputable future. The most interesting moments of this arena are still to come. After all, absolutely everything necessary for holding competitions of any level is created here. And the ﬁrst grand event will be Euro 2012 and its apotheosis that is the ﬁnal of the tournament.

• There are only a few months left till the beginning of Euro 2012. What feelings do you experience now? A feeling of pride for my colleagues and teammates who managed to implement such a grand project in the shortest possible time .

• What can you say on terms of reconstruction? Is everything done according to planned procedure? The stadium now is totally completed. Initially, we were keen on opening the NSC Olimpiyskiy on 14

August 24, on the Independence Day as a gift for the 20th anniversary of Ukrainian independence. Unfortunately, our Western partners that are dealing with rooﬁng let us down a little bit. A little bit it is for two months. Consequently, the terms have shifted, but it is not critical.

• Similar objects are often growing rapidly in price during the process of reconstruction the NSC Olimpiyskiy isn’t an exception in the case, is it? We can say that it is. Starting with the fact that Olimpiyskiy project hasn’t been even developed before. At the moment the Yanukovych team came to power there was no complete design document . There were neither cost estimation nor calculations. Having the experience with Donbass Arena I reckoned up immediately that the approximate cost of the stadium would be 550 million dollars. And so it happened. I want to say that the stadium in Warsaw the capacity of which is 15000 less than the one in Kyiv costs 635 million dollars. In other words our prices are quite normal. However, under Ukrainian law it is necessary to announce prices when the government takes decision only as based on existing projects. Therefore, the project developed along with the stadium, drawings were issued and state expertise was carried out. Thus, there was no

growth. One can calculate, divide the cost of the stadium on the amount of seats (70 thousand). We will get approximately eight thousand dollars per seat. It is quite acceptable.

• By the way, speaking about the seats! One of the vital topics in the light of the forthcoming Euro 2012 is the tickets for the games,.., their distribution, selling… In general, tickets are solely the prerogative and responsibility of UEFA. It is known that UEFA has already held

Expenditures and income • Standard, but compulsory question – how much it will cost Ukrainians to hold the European Championship? Direct state costs for building two stadiums in Kyiv and Lviv constitute about 700-750 million dollars. All the rest are infrastructure projects that have indirect relationship to Euro. I want to say that in any way event it was necessary to build them. Take, for example, hotel infrastructure, where the whole burden of expenditures is incurred by the representatives of hotel businesses.

• Is it possible to announce approximate total figures of expenditures for both the government and business? No, now it is impossible. The ﬁrst results will be summarized in the middle of next May when all the projects for the European Championship will be fully commissioned.

• Are there any risks in this case? There are no risks what concerns deadlines. 16

• As it is known, terms and Euro 2012 preparation schedule, to put it mildly, were not met at the beginning. Did the process of speeding up have any impact on expenditures? Obviously, it had a direct impact. What I want to say is if terms were met from the beginning, we would do it cheaper on about a quarter. These are huge amounts. Let me remind you that Ukraine received the European Championship in 2007. At that time we were suﬀering prolonged period of political instability. It is too late to blame the previous government, but many things have not been implemented even on projects that made it diﬃcult for the future work.

• Costs, costs... but I would like to discuss income as well. How much will Ukraine and an average Ukrainian earn during Euro 2012? Is this a popular topic, calculation of the amount that we are going to earn during Euro? Modern infrastructure both in the air and on land will be left to Ukrainian taxpayers after the European Championship. Let us take, for example, railroads, high speed traffic among four cities. The world standards show that such railroad passenger traffic that will be organized in Ukraine is an accelerated one, that is 160-180 kilometers per hour. Speaking about technologies of really high-speed trains, 250-300 km/h, then it is necessary to build completely new railways and this is impossible to implement for one or two years. Nevertheless, today Ukrainians and visitors to our country can rich any city with comfort . Generally it will take 4,5 hours to get from Lviv to Kyiv, to Kharkiv it is approximately three hours that is faster than by plane, than from the centre of Kyiv to Boryspil, registration including. Thus, the direction Kyiv-Kharkiv wins even here as compared to plane. What concerns Donetsk it is five and a half hour, a bit far but it is more than 700 kilometers. First of all, small and medium business will earn on such tournaments, and everything that is connected with transportation, hotels, restaurants, etc.

• What earns the state? The state will also earn thanks to high overexploitation of the airports.

the ground up. There were terminals in Boryspil, but the main terminal in Boryspil was built from the ground up as well. Lviv, Kharkiv and Donetsk airports. So there are no problems at all.

• How about crossing capacity and border control? In the new Boryspil terminal there will function 80 so-called passport points, i.e. points for passport control. 60 will be in Donetsk, Lviv and Kharkiv airports respectively. We cannot allow people crowding in large queues.

• As we are talking about Boryspil, the road from there to Kyiv is under reconstruction, is it according to the plan? Of course, December-January deadlines are not going to be shifted. By the way if to speak generally we wanted to make more roads.

We need to understand that holding European Championship in our country, firstly, not having any experience in organizations of tournaments of such scale, and secondly, not having proper infrastructure, carries great risks • There is an opinion that some objects of Euro 2012 must be done for the Championship purposes only and it concerns primarily hotels. In other words, what can be done with empty rooms in hotels later? Show me a businessman that wastes money without any purpose. There is a European and world experience in organizing and conducting of such tournaments, everything is counted, including hotel industry. Trust me, there will be no there will be no empty hotels in Kyiv. Great lack of hotel rooms could be felt in the capital long time ago. It is more complicated with Kharkiv or Donetsk, but in order to solve this problem it is necessary to carry out different sports and culture events, business events regularly. Moreover, they have already gained the experience needed that should be enriched. 18

• Do you connect your personal future with politics or business? I will not look into the distant future, it is better to say the main guideline today for me today is Friday, June 08 2012 when the opening ceremony of Euro-2012 will be held. It is extremely important for me that after the ending of this event as many as possible people were leaving Ukraine with good impressions and positive emotions. We need to understand that holding the European Championship in our country, ﬁrst of all without having any experience in organizing tournaments of such scale, and secondly, without having proper infrastructure, carries great risks. So, I personally and the team are proud of the fact that we managed to escape them.

• How long lasts your working day? After heart problems my doctors highly recommended me to shorten my working day from 16 hour day to at least 10 hour one , but now I cannot recall a moment when I left earlier than 9.30 PM.

• What do you do in your free time? And do you have it in general? No, I don’t. I stick to the principle that the change of an activity is known to be the best holiday. In this sense football and hockey helps me a lot.

• Which Euro 2012 matches are you keen to watch? I hope that business will not interfere with the desire that coincides with possibilities. It is not surprising If I say that want to watch all the matches with the Ukraine national football team, and I hope that our team will perform the best during home Euro and will move as far as possible in the tournament fight. I believe that potential of our team allows us to expect that Ukrainian fans will be able to see the Ukraine national football team in the final of the European Championship on the field of the NSC Olimpiyskiy.

• Please give your estimate of the NSC Olimpiyskiy according to the results of opening friendly match between Ukraine and Germany. It is fans and players who should give an estimate, though in general everything went well enough. It is necessary to organize other football competitions after the ﬁrst match. The more matches will be played before the European Championship the better. Test events will be hold both this year and next spring. We got a stadium that is worth to be proud of.

Скажіть чесно: враховуючи Ваш колосальний будівельний досвід, в тому числі у сфері спортивних об’єктів, чи не став київський стадіон чимось особливим? Боюсь Вас розчарувати, але ні. Як, втім, і будь-який інший об’єкт. Будівництво – проста і не така вже й весела справа. Цікавого тут мало. Наша робота – це звичайна рутина, чітке виконання відомих операцій та норм. Так, були складні моменти, хоча б з тим самим дахом, коли доводилося докладати екстразусиль, щоб укластися в термін. Але, в цілому, в нормальному будівництві все однаково і дуже просто, якщо є робоча документація. Просто парадокс цього об’єкту полягає в тому, що ми, прийшовши на нього, робочої документації не отримали! Це був нонсенс якийсь. Попередня команда взагалі поставилася до справи, м’яко кажучи, недбало. Я був вражений, коли ознайомився з результатами їхньої роботи – як можна було практично рік працювати «з коліс», не маючи ніяких чітко прописаних 20

орієнтирів? Нам довелося пристосовуватися на ходу. Плюс ми змушені були перепроектувати стадіон відповідно до вимог УЄФА. Певна річ, з’являлися нові терміни, певна річ, відбулося подорожчання об’єкта.

• До речі, в пресі було чимало публікацій саме про збільшення вартості НСК. Це якось впливало на Вашу роботу? Ніяк. Ми просто робили свою справу. Взагалі, наша преса чомусь у будь-якій темі шукає негатив. Це найприкріше, тому що в той час, коли велика кількість людей з усіх сил працює на благо країни, журналісти, замість того, щоб нас підтримати, вникнути в наші складнощі, порадіти рекордним термінам будівництва, почали шукати до чого б придертися. Критикувати, звичайно, можна і потрібно, це стимулює до удосконалення процесів. Але критика повинна бути конструктивною і професійною. А титанічна праця людей на об’єктах повинна бути висвітлена у ЗМІ та оцінена суспільством.

• І все-таки – яка причина збільшення кошторису? Кошторис збільшувався тому, що в кілька етапів підходила нова документація. Було так: спочатку ми по стадії проекту порахували вартість майбутніх робіт. Потім приїхали представники УЄФА і, щоб відповідати усім вимогам, довелося багато чого додавати та переробляти. Звісно пішли зміни, з’являлася нова документація, перераховувалися ціни і відбувалося подорожчання. І все це поступово, відразу цього зробити ніяк не можна було. І тому ми три рази приймали новий титул і новий бюджет. При цьому наш стадіон не найдорожчий. Варшавська арена, наприклад, помітно дорожча, хоча і менша на 20 тисяч. А преса все одно пише: «Олімпійський» – дорожче всіх! Тут політики «підливають масла у вогонь», висловлюючи своє бачення цього питання, незрозуміло чим обґрунтоване. Починають називати несусвітні цифри витрат під мільярд. Наші політики у своїй більшості не хочуть брати на себе відповідальність за свої неправильні рішення, але завжди готові критикувати інших заради свого піару, поки тема актуальна. При цьому цікаво, що публікації у західній пресі на тему «Олімпійського» дуже доброзичливі.

• Тобто, захід віддає належне Вашій роботі? Більш ніж. Знаєте, вони ж там так не працюють! Іноземці не вірили, що ми встигнемо здати до кінця року НСК, та ще й львівський стадіон на додаток, для них такі терміни неймовірні. Ось чесне

• Екстремальні терміни робіт, напевно, вимагали якихось жорстких методів впливу на людей? Складне питання. Спочатку відставання було занадто велике. Знаєте, мені останнім часом постійно доводиться працювати як кризовому менеджеру. Я прийшов, на об’єкті купа проблем, команди немає… Отже, мені потрібно набрати команду і в найкоротші терміни побудувати об’єкт. Тому, певна річ, в такій ситуації вибудовується жорстка вертикаль управління процесом. Хтось на цьому шляху, так би мовити, відстав – люди не витримували ритму, темпу, завдань, які перед нами стояли, людей довелося звільнити. Так що на фініші багатьох вже немає з тих, хто прийшов на старті. Це життя, тут нічого не поробиш. Усім, хто залишився в проекті до кінця, я вдячний. Виділяти нікого не буду, думаю, що уряд відзначить гідних. Списки відзначених осіб при будівництві стадіону ми подали до Кабміну, сподіваюся, їх затвердять.

• Скільки може прослужити оновлений «Олімпійський»? Йому зараз дають 30 років на спокійне майбутнє... Він може прослужити і більше. За будівельними нормативами, він може спокійно функціонувати і через 100 років. Питання в іншому. Ми ж не знаємо, що буде через 100 років. І навіть – через 30. Можливо футбол буде іншим або технології будуть інші. Сама чаша стадіону простоїть 100 років, це не питання, саме стільки закладається для споруд із таких матеріалів. Найголовніше – це IT-технології, той самий комплекс послуг, які всім подобаються і які визначають якість і сучасність об’єкта. На цьому стадіоні закладені кілометри кабелю для того, щоб можна було нормально працювати при нинішньому технологічному навантаженні. Якщо відбудеться революція в IT-технологіях, то на «Олімпійському» можна буде дуже швидко привести всі системи у відповідність до нових реалій. По кабелях, що укладені при реконструкції, можна буде подати будь-яку інформацію – я не грудень 2011

кажу про такий розвиток технологій, коли кабелі взагалі не знадобляться, що, звісно, теж можливо.

• Чи є якась робота з виконаних, яка викликає Вашу особливу гордість? Що вдалося найкраще у процесі реконструкції? Та як сказати ... Я сприймаю цей проект в цілому. Перед нами стоїть завдання провести Євро-2012 в Україні. Ось це завдання – все, а не по частинах – ми повинні виконати. Перший етап з введенням у дію двох нових стадіонів закінчений. До кінця року ми здаємо аеропорти. Потім – вся різноманітна інфраструктура: спортивні бази, гуртожитки, готелі, дороги, транспортні розв’язки, вся служба забезпечення: волонтери, стюарди і так далі, служба безпеки... Це величезний комплекс завдань. Це програма, яка передбачена для того, щоб провести належним чином Євро-2012. Її виконання в цілому – ось що буде оцінюватися. А НСК «Олімпійський» – всього лиш частина проекту, хоча і дуже важлива.

• НСК «Олімпійський» будувався не тільки для футболу... Звичайно, і в цьому його унікальність у порівнянні з іншими проектами

Ми робимо головну арену країни такою, щоб готувати на ній наших спортсменів – легкоатлетів, майбутніх чемпіонів, які зможуть прославити Україну!

українських спортивних арен останнього часу. Скажімо, «Донбас Арена» – суто футбольний стадіон, більш камерний, там немає бігових доріжок, людина наближена до футбольного поля. Але НСК має вражаючу легкоатлетичну інфраструктуру, і на ньому можна буде проводити легкоатлетичні змагання світового рівня! Ми робимо головну арену країни такою, щоб готувати на ній наших спортсменів – легкоатлетів, майбутніх чемпіонів, які зможуть прославити Україну!

• Що дасть НСК «Олімпійський» Києву та Україні, крім фіналу Євро? Я думаю, це буде візитівка міста. Адже стадіон вийшов дуже гарний, правда? Цей силует буде працювати на впізнавання Києва. У столиці і так багато всіляких образів, відомих у всьому світі, але, сподіваюся, що наш стадіон додасться до них. Щоб, як тільки його зображення з’явиться на екрані, весь світ відразу міг би казати: «Ось це місто Київ!» Стадіон будувався насамперед для любителів футболу. Всім іншим він може бути байдужий, а сам Євро з його заторами та іншими проблемами – навіть дратувати. Але, звичайно, ефект новизни спрацює, і в перший рік на трибуни нового «Олімпійського» ходитимуть багато людей. А надалі, доведеться дуже сильно працювати, щоб цих людей на трибунах утримати. І в цьому я бажаю успіхів «Олімпійському»!

• Можете охарактеризувати новий стадіон у трьох словах? У трьох не вийде, скажу в чотирьох: надія на стадіон «Олімпійський»! Це надія на те, що ми побачимо перемоги нашої збірної на цьому стадіоні у фіналі Євро-2012.

• Volodymyr Heorhiyovych, we congratulate you on launching the NSC Olimpiyskiy, the reconstruction of which was led by your agency! Tell me honestly, with all your tremendous experience in construction work, including sports facilities, has Kyiv stadium become something special? I’m afraid to disappoint you, but it hasn’t.. As however any other object. Construction is simple and not so funny thing. There isn’t much interesting about that. Our work is an ordinary routine, precise performance of certain operations and regulations. Yes, there were difficult moments, even with the roof, when we had to put an extra effort to finish everything in time. But, in general, in the normal construction everything is the same and very simple, if you have the engineering documentation of course. Just a paradox of this object is that when we came there, we didn’t get all necessary documentation! It was nonsense. Previous team in general was really negligent. I was amazed when I learned the results of their work – how could they work for almost a year from “wheels” with no clearly defined targets? We had to adapt on the move. Plus, we also had to redesign the stadium to the requirements of UEFA. Naturally, there were new terms and of course the facility became more expensive. грудень 2011

Has long-term experience in management and construction of the administrative, housing and sports facilities, among which are the reconstructed RSC Olympiyskiy (Donetsk), Donbass Palace hotel (Donetsk), Donbass Arena and NSC Olimpiyskiy elite class stadium . He was awarded the title of the «Honoured builder of Ukraine» for high quality implementation of the regional and Ukrainian projects.

• By the way, there were a lot of publications just about increasing the value of the NSC in the press. Has it influenced on your work somehow? No, it hasn’t . We were just doing our job. In general, our press for some reason is always looking for negative things in everything. It is the most oﬀensive thing, because at the time when many people are working hard for the good of the country, journalists, rather than to support us, to understand our diﬃculties, to enjoy record-breaking time of construction, started looking for something to cavil at. Of course it’s possible and even necessary to criticize, it stimulates processes of improvement. But criticism should be constructive and professional. And all titanic work of people on objects should be covered in the mass media and evaluated by our society.

• And yet, what is the reason of increasing the budget? The budget increased due to the fact that new documentation was coming on diﬀerent stages. How was it? Initially, on the project phase we calculated all the costs of future performance. Then came

the representatives of UEFA and in order to comply with all their requirements, we had to add a lot of things. Naturally, there were changes, a new documentation was made, we had to recalculate prices and so the rise in prices occurred. And it all was made gradually; we just weren’t able to do it at once. And that’s why for three times we got a new title and a new budget. At the same time, our stadium is not the most expensive one. Warsaw Arena, for example, is considerably more expensive, although only for 20 thousand. And the press still writes: Olimpiyskiy is the most expensive! Here also our politicians “pour oil into ﬁre”, when expressing their views on this issue,without any reasonable basis. They start to call the utter numbers of costs, just about a billion. Our politicians mostly do not want to take responsibility for the wrong decisions they made, but they are always ready to criticize others for their own PR, while the “theme” is actual. At the same time it’s so amusing that the western publications are very positive about Olimpiyskiy.

• So the Western countries appreciate your work? More than that. You know, they do not work in this way! Foreigners did not believe that we would ﬁnish the NSC in time before the end of the year, and even the L’viv stadium in addition to that. For them such terms are really unthinkable. That’s my word of honor: till the last day they did not believe that we would actually hand over the L’viv stadium, I’m serious about it.

• Perhaps extreme periods of work required some tough methods to influence on people? It’s a diﬃcult question. Initially the slippage was huge. You know, I recently had to work constantly as a crisis manager. When I came,

on the object there were a lot of problems, there wasn’t a real team – so I had to find a team and as soon as possible to build the object. So, naturally, in such a situation a tough vertical process management should be created. Someone along the way is behind – people could not stand the rhythm, speed, tasks that were in front of us, such people had to be released. So at the finish there aren’t many of those who came at the start. It is a life, there’s nothing you can do with it. I’m really very grateful to those who stayed in the project till the end. I wouldn’t like to distinguish no one, I think that the Government will note those who deserve it. We have already submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers the lists of notable people who had taken part in the construction of the stadium; I hope those lists would be confirmed.

• How long can operate the reconstructed Olimpiyskiy? It is now given 30 years for a peaceful future... It can serve even more. According to building regulation, it can safely function even in 100 years. The question is in another layer. We do not know what will happen in 100 years. And even in 30 years. Maybe football will be different, or the technology will be different. The bowl of the stadium itself will stand for 100 years; really, it is an average time for all constructions of such materials. IT technologies are the most important, the set of services that everyone likes and that determine the quality and modernity of this object. At this stadium are laid miles of cables in order one can properly with the current process load. If there is a revolution in IT technology, then on the “Olimpiyskiy” all systems can be changed into compliance with new realities. Via cables, laid in the process of reconstruction, it will be possible to submit any information – I’m not talking about the development of technologies when cables won’t be necessary, of course, and it is also possible.

• Is there any work done, you are proud of most of all? What has been the best in the reconstruction process? Well, how to say... I take this project in general. In front of us there is a very important task to hold Euro 2012 in Ukraine. So we should fulfill this task up to the end, not partially! The first stage of the commissioning of two new stadiums is finished. By the end of the year we are commissioning airports. Then all extensive infrastructure: sports facilities, dormitories, hotels, roads, the entire service – volunteers, stewards,

and so on, security, transport interchanges ... It’s a huge range of tasks. It’s a program that is provided in order to hold Euro 2012 properly. Its performance as a whole is the thing that will be estimated. The NSC Olimpiyskiy is only a part of the project, although a very important one.

• The NSC Olimpiyskiy was built not only for football purposes... Of course, and it is its uniqueness compared to other projects of Ukrainian sports arenas in recent years. For example, Donbas Arena is a pure football stadium, more restricted, there are no treadmills, and a person stays closely to the football field. But the NSC has an impressive athletics infrastructure, and thworld class competitions can be hold there! We make the main arena of the country for such purposes in order to train here our sportsmen – athletes, the future champions who will glorify Ukraine!

• What will the NSC Olimpiyskiy bring Kyiv and Ukraine except the Euro 2012 final? I think it will be a city signature piece. After all, the stadium is very nice, isn’t it? This silhouette will work on the recognition of Kyiv. Kyiv has already many images that are known around the world, but I hope that our stadium will also be added to them. That as soon as its image appears on the screen, the whole world would immediately say: “This is the city of Kyiv!” For the rest ... The stadium was built primarily for the football fans. For everyone else it may be indifferent, and the European Championship itself, with its traffic jams and other problems could be even annoying . But, of course there will be an effect of novelty work and there will come a lot of people at the stands of the new Olimpiyskiy in the first year. In the future, we will have to work very hard in order to keep there all these people. I wish Olimpiyskiy great success in this!

We make the main arena of the country for such purposes in order to train here our sportsmen – athletes, the future champions who will glorify Ukraine! • Can you describe the new stadium in a few words? I can’t do it in a few words, but in more ones: hope for the Olimpiyskiy stadium! It is a hope that we all will see the victory of our team on this stadium in the final of Euro 2012. грудень 2011

Залишалося тільки підняти ванти та змонтувати мембранні секції. 4 листопада НСК «Олімпійський» відвідав виконавчий директор УЄФА Девід Тейлор. «Я вражений тією роботою, яка була проведена на НСК «Олімпійський» за такий короткий період. Це щось дивне. Коли стадіон буде завершений, ми усі будемо ним пишатися. Це буде дуже красива споруда», – сказав бувалий Тейлор. Так завершився рік, який в історії реконструкції об’єкту став переломним. Питання – буде стадіон на початок Євро чи ні – вже не стояло. Починався останній рік реконструкції.

На нижньому ярусі старі залізобетонні конструкції складок замінили на нові. При цьому кут нахилу збільшили на 15 градусів для більшого комфорту глядачів під час перегляду матчів. Складки верхнього ярусу, окрім демонтованої західної трибуни, повністю реконструювали та зміцнили. Восени 2009 року довкола арени розпочалось будівництво зони обслуговування уболівальників та комерційних площ, а також підготовчі роботи для зведення об’їзної дороги з естакадою. Проте темпи виконання робіт залишались невисокими. У 2010 рік НСК «Олімпійський» вступив зі значним відставанням від графіків. Вже у березні 2010 року все змінилося. За 9 місяців, що пройшли з початку року до введення стадіону в експлуатацію, сталося стільки подій, що описати їх всі просто немає можливості. Тому дамо хронологію тільки найважливіших. Січень: НСК «Олімпійський» побудований на 70%. Усі роботи на об’єкті йдуть чітко за графіком. Повністю виконано скління контуру стадіону, всі приміщення всередині стадіону опалюються та освітлюються. Березень: У головної спортивної арени країни з’явився директор з експлуатації. На цю посаду призначено Володимира Генінсона. Березень: Встановлено вантову систему покрівлі. Конструкція за допомогою 160 гідродомкратів піднята на висоту 34 метри. Квітень: Готовність стадіону НСК «Олімпійський» складає 84%. Про це заявив генеральний директор головної арени Євро-2012 Володимир Барковський. Квітень: Готова об’їзна дорога з естакадою біля НСК «Олімпійський». Шляхопровід, розташований в південно-східній частині стадіону, з’єднав вулиці Еспланадну та Димитрова і забезпечив доступ до об’єкту з усіх боків. Травень: монтаж «парасольок» – прозорих куполів підвісних конструкцій-розпорів, через які відбувається освітлення арени. Червень: на першому ярусі північної трибуни НСК «Олімпійський» встановлені перші глядацькі сидіння. Над північною і південною трибунами змонтовано два відеотабло площею 103,36 м² – одні з найбільших в Європі. Обидві відеопанелі спочатку зібрали на землі, а потім підняли і закріпили під вантовою конструкцією даху на 6 тросах. 23 червня 2011 року на вантовій системі даху НСК «Олімпійський» розстелили перший з 80 секторів мембранного покриття. Липень: Під дахом НСК «Олімпійський» почали встановлювати прожектори освітлення поля й трибун. Завершено установку системи звукового обладнання. Вона складається з акустичних підсистем під покрівлею стадіону і підтрибунних гучномовців. Паралельно, в червні-липні йде процес монтажу поля. Серпень: монтують диво інженерної техніки – дах арени, один з найбільших в Європі. Встановлені жовто-сині крісла. У розпалі польові роботи. На вже улаштовану систему опалювання і дренаж поклали шар щебеню, піщаний і піщано-дерновий шар, які передували рулонному покриттю поля. На легкоатлетичних доріжках укладено чотири шари – це відповідає вимогам Міжнародної федерації легкої атлетики. На День Незалежності, 24 серпня 2011 року, були запущені в роботу відеотабло. Майже 800 рулонів з трав’яним покриттям загальною площею 8395 м² привезли зі Словаччини в 10 холодильних камерах. 8 вересня Борис Колесніков відрапортував: НСК «Олімпійський» готовий на 95%. Завершуються роботи з установки крісел в бізнес-секторі. Останні тести і перевірки.

Жовтень: готовність – 100 відсотків! Листопад: Перший матч на НСК «Олімпійський». Збірна України демонструє чудову гру проти однієї з кращих команд світу – збірної Німеччини. Почин вдався якнайкраще!

Sports Heart of the Country

he story began in August 2008 with the signing of the contract with the German architectural bureau GMP. And on August 14 Kyivmiskbu” began dismantling of concrete structures of stadium first tier. The process got moving and now it remained only to stick to the schedule. Оn December 1, 2008 they began the construction activities, but we could hardly stick to the schedule I doubt If I may say “we could”. Years 2008-2009, actually became a preparatory period for the construction of new generation arena. During this time the both tiers of the stadium western stands were completely dismantled. The foundation for VIP-zone building was laid with comfortable sky boxes and the necessary infrastructure (facilities for teams, room for honored guests, the press center, shops and restaurants). Old concrete structure folds were replaced with new ones. Their angle increased to 15 degrees in order to provide spectators more comfortable watching of matches. The upper tier folds, all but dismantled western stand, were fully renovated and strengthened. In autumn 2009, the construction of fans service zone was begun around the arena as well as preparatory work on bypass and overpass roads construction. However, the pace of the works remained low. The NSC Olimpiyskiy entered 2010 with considerable delays.

But everything changed in March 2010. The New Vice Prime Minister responsible for Euro 2012 Borys Kolesnikov (later on – Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Infrastructure) strongly stated in the press: in the near future the reconstruction of the NSC Olimpiyskiy would be stuck to the schedule. This task was fulfilled. The works were carried on around the clock. In summer tthe steel columns that hold the membrane roof were placed. In autumn the assembling of aunique cable-stayed system coverage began. On October 4, 2010 the last element of external compression rings was set that unite all 80 columns in a single stadium construction. It remained only to raise it and mount diaphragm section. On November 4, UEFA Executive Director David Taylor visited the NSC Olimpiyskiy. “I am astonished by the work, which was held at the NSC Olimpiyskiy in such a short period. It is something unbelievable. When the stadium is completed, we will all be proud of it. It is a very beautiful building,” – Taylor said. In such a way the year which was crucial in the history of reconstruction. : The question – will the stadium be ready at the beginning of the Euro or not – was no longer raised. 2010 �e Year 2011 January 2011: Olimpiyskiy is ready for 70%. All the project works are performed accurately according to the schedule. The glazing of the stadium contour is completed; all the premises inside the stadium are heated and fully operational. March 2011: The main sports arena of the country got its Operations Director. Volodymyr Geninson was appointed to this position. March 2011: Cable-stayed roof system installed. The construction was lifted to the height of 34 metres with the help of 160 hydraulic jacks. April 2011: The NSC Olimpiyskiy stadium is ready for 84%. It was stated by the Director General of the main Euro 2012 arena, Volodymyr Barkovskyy. April 2011: The bypass road and the overhead road near the NSC Olimpiyskiy are ready. The overpass located in the southeastern part of the stadium connected two streets: Esplanadna and Dimitrova, providing the access to the object from all sides. May: The installation of “umbrellas” – transparent suspended domes of suspended brace structures, used for the arena lighting. June: The first spectator seats were installed on the first tier of the north stand at the NSC Olimpiyskiy. and then lifted up and fastened on 6 cables under the cable-stayed roof system. 23 June 2011, the first of the 80 sectors of the membrane coating was spread out on the NSC Olimpiyskiy cable-stayed roof system. July: Installation of floodlight projectors for the pitch and stands beganunder the NSC Olimpiyskiy roof. Installation of sound system was completed. The system consists of loudspeakers under the stadium roof and the ones installed under the stands. Along with that, the process of pitch assembly takes place in June and July. August: Mounting of an engineering miracle, the arena roof, one of Europe’s largest stadium coverings. Installation of yellow and blue seats is completed. On Independence Day, 24 August 2011, the video screens were put into operation. The giant screens were broadcasting the video greetings for the 20th anniversary of Ukrainian independence. September: The process of laying the natural turf started. Nearly 800 rolls of grass carpet covering the area of 8395 m2 in total was brought from Slovakia in 10 refrigerating chambers. 8 September, Borys Kolesnikov (Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Infrastructure) reported: the NSC Olimpiyskiy is 95% ready. Мартін Блекман: «НСК «Олімпійський» – це досконалий інструмент»

Директор компанії GMP Мартін Блекман розповідає про особливості архітектурних стилів, внутрішній вміст реконструйованої київської арени та церемонію її відкриття, про те, які звуки можна добувати за допомогою «Олімпійського» та багато іншого.

Структурний порядок • Для початку розкажіть, будь ласка, трохи про вашу компанію. Компанія GMP вже майже півстоліття проектує найрізноманітніші будівлі, які побудовані і в даний час споруджуються в Європі, Азії і Південній Америці. До переліку наших робіт входять різні проекти і будівництво торгових центрів, готелів, конгрес-холів та предмет нашої особливої гордості – це будівля Центрального вокзалу у Берліні. У нас за плечима багато десятків реалізованих проектів та ідей, просто величезний досвід роботи в своїй сфері.

• Торгові центри та конгрес-холи... Але чому – стадіони? Ми прийняли новий виклик, коли Німеччина отримала право на проведення чемпіонату світу з футболу 2006 року. Наші архітектори розробили і запропонували свої варіанти реконструкції та будівництва німецьких стадіонів перед світовою футбольною першістю. Це були сміливі і разом з тим зручні рішення, які викликали позитивний відгук. Ми спроектували три стадіони – у Франкфурті, в Кельні і, що на мою думку дуже символічно – це олімпійський стадіон у столиці Німеччини. Всі роботи викликали повне схвалення і підтримку з боку ФІФА, а потім і всіх інших футбольних і не тільки інстанцій.

• Це був цікавий досвід? Не тільки цікавий, а як виявилося згодом, настільки вдалий, що викликав довгостроковий розвиток цього напрямку. Після цього ми спроектували три стадіони для чемпіонату світу з футболу 2010 року в ПАР у Кейптауні, Дурбані і Порті-Елізабет, а потім почалася робота по трьох проектах для чемпіонату Європи 2012 року. Нами розроблено проекти стадіонів у Варшаві, Катовіце та Києві. Це не рахуючи ще десятка великих і не дуже спортивних об’єктів, які пройшли, так би мовити, через наші руки. 32

• Як вважаєте, чому був обраний саме ваш проект реконструкції НСК «Олімпійський»? Думаю, що наше бюро виграло тендер на реконструкцію з кількох причин. По-перше, завдяки нашому авторитету, по-друге, оперативності і, по-третє, оригінальності та простоті. Наша концепція реконструкції була відправлена до Києва і отримала схвалення з українського боку.

• Якої архітектурної філософії дотримується ваше бюро і як це було відображене у проекті стадіону в Києві? Наш ідеал полягає в пошуку і знаходженні форми, що має особливий зміст і проходить крізь час. Ми намагаємося уникати експресіоністських деталей, які є лише похідним від художнього капризу, що не має функціональності. Для наших концепцій актуальні такі керівні принципи архітектурного розуміння, як простота, різноманітність і однаковість, самобутність, структурний порядок. Фахівці іноді називають «нова простота» чи крайній пуризм. (Для довідки. Пуризм – напрям в живописі та архітектурі XX століття, який прагне при створенні своїх творів до естетичної ясності, точності, достовірності в зображенні. Метою є створення простого, функціонального живопису та архітектури, в яких естетичне з’єднується з механічним світом подібним світу машин. Найбільш раціональним вважається використання точного з’єднання геометричних орнаментів. Ідеальною пропорцією у відображенні вважається золотий перетин. Декоративність і манірність відкидаються.) Все це повною мірою знайшло своє відображення у проекті НСК «Олімпійський».

Відповідальність і надійність • Які його особливості ви можете назвати? Враховуючи всі фактори та вимоги, ми відмовилися від глобальних перетворень і глибинних змін, запропонувавши облагородити будівлю та одягнути її у скляний фасад, а сам стадіон накрити унікальним дахом зі скловолокна і надміцної матерії. Нахил нижнього ярусу збільшити, на верхньому ярусі додати VIP-ложі, а місця для глядачів зробити ширшими та зручнішими і зберегти місткість у 70 тисяч глядачів, як того вимагають норми. Своєрідний фасад у поєднанні з мембранним дахом робить цей стадіон найкрасивішою урбаністичною спортивною спорудою у самому центрі міста. Це нова віха у архітектурній історії Києва.

• Як пройшли три роки реконструкції? Над реконструкцією НСК «Олімпійський» трудилася високопрофесійна команда, якій вдалося завершити цей грандіозний проект у визначені терміни, та виконати це було дуже і дуже непросто. Була здійснена просто колосальна робота на найвищому рівні в досить непростих умовах обмеженого часу, що, втім, ніяк не вплинуло на якість та кінцевий результат.

• Що можете сказати про українських партнерів, з якими співпрацювали? Так-так, не можу не відзначити наших українських партнерів, які працювали у цьому проекті спільно з нашою компанією, їх професіоналізм, відповідальність і надійність. В процесі реконструкції їх знання та досвід виявилися просто безцінними. В цілому у нас склалися довірливі партнерські, можна навіть сказати, дружні стосунки. Саме вони стали тією основою, яка дозволила належним чином організувати усі процеси, форсувати події і завершити роботу, що, підкреслю, було дуже і дуже непросто. Можна навіть сказати – майже неможливо, якби не постійний діалог та співпраця між усіма задіяними у цьому проекті сторонами. Особливо хочу відзначити департамент з інфраструктури, усіх відповідальних за підготовку об’єкта та керівника.

• Як вам церемонія відкриття стадіону? Шоу-презентація арени показала, що НСК «Олімпійський» – це унікальна споруда, яку можна використовувати для найрізноманітніших спортивних і масштабних розважальних функцій. Думаю, в майбутньому на цій арені пройде ще чимало приголомшливих заходів, якими будуть пишатися жителі такого чарівного міста Києва і всі громадяни прекрасної країни, як Україна.

• Відомий філософ, до речі, ваш співвітчизник, Фрідріх Вільгельм Йозеф фон Шеллінг сказав, що архітектура – це застигла музика. На вашу думку, яка музика застигла в просторі НСК «Олімпійський»? Насамперед хочу підкреслити, що це дуже вдале порівняння архітектури і музики, яке мені до душі. Дуже. Що стосується НСК «Олімпійський», то особисто мені цей об’єкт бачиться досконалим інструментом для добування найрізноманітніших звуків і прекрасних мелодій.

Martin Bleckmann, Director of GMP Company explains about the peculiarities of architectural styles, the internal content of the reconstructed Kiev arena, about opening ceremony, about “sounds” that can be retrieved from the “Olimpiyskiy” and many others.

Structural order • To start with tell us, please, a little bit about your company. Almost half a century company GMP has designed a variety of buildings that were built and are currently being built in Europe, Asia and South America. The list of our works includes a variety of projects and constructions of shopping centers, hotels, congress-halls. We are especially proud of the building of Grand Central Railway Station in Berlin. Dozens of completed projects and ideas are on our account, thus a huge experience in this ﬁeld.

• Shopping centers and congresshalls... But why stadiums?

We took a new challenge when Germany won the right to host the FIFA World Cup 2006. Our architects have designed and oﬀered their own options of reconstruction and construction of German stadiums for world football championship. Those were brave and at the same time suitable solutions which met positive response. We designed three stadiums in Frankfurt, Cologne, and “Olimpiyskiy” stadium in the capital of Germany that is very symbolic, in my opinion. All works evoked full approval and support of FIFA and other bodies.

• Was it an interesting experience? Not only interesting. It turned out so successful that it has led us to long-term development in this direction. We designed three stadiums for the FIFA World Cup 2010 in South Africa in Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth, and then we started our work upon three projects for the European Championship 2012. We have developed projects of stadiums in Warsaw, Katowice, Kyiv. I even don’t take into account dozens of large and not very large sportfacilities that also have been designed by us.

• How do you think, why your project was selected for the reconstruction of the NSC Olimpiyskiy? I think that our coumpany has won this tender for reconstruction because of several reasons. First of all, it is thanks to our authority, secondly, to eﬃciency and, thirdly, to the originality and simplicity. Our concept of reconstruction was sent to Kiev and received approval by the Ukrainian side.

• What architectural philosophy does your company follow and how is it reflected in the draft of Kiev stadium? Our ideal is to seek and ﬁnd the forms that have special content and pass through times.

Faces of project

We try to avoid expressionistic details, which are only derivatives from artistic caprice and have no functionality. For our concepts, following guiding principles of architectural understanding, the relevant characteristics are: simplicity, variety and consistency, originality and structural order. Specialists sometimes call it “new simplicity” or extreme purism (For the record. Purism is the direction of art and architecture in the XX century seeking to create works in aesthetic clarity, exactness, authenticity of the image. The aim is to create simple, functional art and architecture, in which aesthetic combines with the mechanical world similar to the world of machines. The most rational is believed to be the usage of the exact junction of geometric ornaments. The ideal proportion of representation is considered to be the golden section. Ornamentality and mannerisms are rejected). All this is fully reﬂected in the draft of NSC Olimpiyskiy.

Responsibility and reliability • W h ich of the special features of NSC may you highlight ? Considering all the factors and requirements, we refused global transformations and deep changes. We offered to improve the building by “dressing” it in a glass facade and covering the very stadium by unique roof made of glass fiber and ultrastrong material. Besides, we offered to increase the slope of the lower level, to add sky boxes on the upper level and to make seats for the spectators wider and more comfortable, preserving the capacity of 70 thousand spectators as it is required by the regulations. Peculiar facade in combination with membrane roof of the stadium make the stadium the most beautiful urban sports facility in the heart of the city. This is a new landmark in the architectural history of Kiev.

• How did three years of reconstruction pass? Thanks to the high professional team the reconstruction of NSC Olimpiyskiy was

done in time, but it was extremely difficult to meet the schedule. Tremendous job at the highest level was carried out in rather difficult conditions of limited time that, however, did not influence the quality and final result.

• What can you tell us about the Ukrainian partners with whom you cooperated? Sure, I want to mention our Ukrainian partners. They have jointly toiled with our company at this project. I want to stress their professionalism, responsibility and reliability. Their knowledge and experience were invaluable during the process of reconstruction. In general, we have established a trusted partnership, even friendly relations. That formed the basis, which allowed to organize all the processes properly, to speed up events and complete the work, which, let me stress again, was very, very diﬃcult to fulﬁll. I can even say that it was practically impossible if not an ongoing dialogue and cooperation between all involved parties of the project. Especially, I want to note the Department of Infrastructure, all persons responsible for the venue preparation and also general manager.

• Did you like the opening ceremony? Arena grand opening —event that proved that NSC Olimpiyskiy is a unique facility, which can be used for a variety of sports and large-scale entertainments. I think in the future many amazing events will be held on this arena and residents of this beautiful city of Kiev and all citizens of this beautiful country of Ukraine will be proud of that.

• Friedrich Wilhelm Joseph von Schelling, well-known philosopher, by the way your compatriot, once said that the architecture is a frozen music. What kind of music has frozen in space of NSC Olimpiyskiy? First of all, I want to emphasize that this is a very good comparison of architecture and music that I like very much. As for NSC Olimpiyskiy me personally see this object as a perfect instrument for retrieving a wide variety of sounds and beautiful melodies.

Вечір, який завжди з тобою!

An evening that will always be with you! 8 жовтня 2011 в історії спортивної України залишиться як день епохальний. Відкриття стадіону світового рівня запам’ятають усі, кому пощастило бути на трибунах оновленого НСК «Олімпійський». Повернімося ще раз в цей історичний день, згадаймо, як це було.

19:00 Початок церемонії урочистого відкриття було призначено на 20:00. Але підступи до «Олімпійського» стали заповнюватися людьми за кілька годин до шоу. Надто великим було бажання побачити виставу, від якої чекали незабутніх емоцій. Навколо стадіону кружляли

ті, хто ще не втратив надії купити «зайвий квиточок». Хоча вже в середині дня було зрозуміло, що це – затія безнадійна. Охочих подивитися церемонію виявилося на порядок більше, ніж міг вмістити стадіон. На Київ опускалися м’які осінні сутінки. НСК поступово запалював свої вогні. ніби іскристі трапи інопланетного корабля. Пройшовши ланцюг дружньо налаштованих стюардів, ми ступили на одні з цих зоряних сходів.

19:30 Свято продовжилося всередині. Сервіс підкреслював елітний рівень стадіону. Усміхнені дівчата з фастфудів, уважні стюарди, просторі коридори перед входом на трибуни – коли потрапляєш сюди, почуваєш себе включеним в особливий всесвіт зі своєю системою цінностей. Ти відірваний від звичних турбот, ти живеш у особливому, святковому ритмі. А зовні, з іншого боку скляного фасаду мерехтіло місто, яке цього вечора вперше милувалося своїм новим дивом. І нас прийняла чаша стадіону. Біло-жовто-сині кольори сидінь дивно гармоніюють з кремовими тонами даху. Світло плавно розподіляється по всьому периметру. Табло іскряться всіма своїми 4,4 трильйонами кольорів. А на полі, точніше – на спеціальному пластику, що укрив його, йде діловита метушня. Останні приготування до шоу, в очікуванні якого нетерпляче гудуть трибуни.

20:00 Рівно о восьмій шоу стартує. Різноколірні промені прожекторів перехрещуються всередині арени – і починається барвиста історія про те, як в степу біля Дніпра виникло велике місто, як нелегко доводилося його

мешканцям, як вони долали труднощі, що випадали на їхню долю, – і як раз за разом Київ повставав з попелу ще величнішим! Драматургія, хореографія, сценарій, організація шоу – все органічно сплетено воєдино в цьому спектаклі, за яким трибуни стежили, як зачаровані. Просто приголомшувала світлова підтримка – того вечора всі могли переконатися, яку феєрію здатна видати система прожекторів «Олімпійського»!

Просторі коридори перед входом на трибуни – коли потрапляєш сюди, почуваєш себе включеним в особливий всесвіт зі своєю системою цінностей А коли на полі шоу жителі Києва отримали перемогу над триголовим драконом – символом усіх недругів «матері міст руських», від печенігів до монгол – над стадіоном запустили феєрверк. Прокреслюючи вогняні лінії в потемнілому небі, піротехнічні заряди малювали складні візерунки, злітали ввись і різко падали вниз, розсипалися гронами іскор. Але це було ще далеко не все!

Відкриття

Черепанової гори – місце спортивне, і перша арена для футболу та інших видів спорту тут з’явилася ще у 1923 році. Стадіон змінював контури й імена, його називали на честь різних партійних діячів і скасовували ці постанови. Але незмінною залишалася його сутність: розташований біля Черепанової гори стадіон залишався головним в Україні. Тут українська команда вперше стала чемпіоном СРСР – у 1961 році, до захвату киян, «Динамо» вирвало «золото» з рук москвичів. 14 роками пізніше київська команда декласувала тут мюнхенську «Баварію», ставши найсильнішим клубом континенту. 21:00 Настав важливий момент. Перед 60-тисячною аудиторією з’явився Президент України Віктор Янукович. Глава держави був лаконічний, сказавши про головне: «Поздоровляю вас з відкриттям одного з найбільших і найсучасніших стадіонів Європи. Успішна реконструкція «Олімпійського» стала показовим проектом іміджу України. Сьогодні свято усієї країни, адже спортивний стадіон – це подарунок усім громадянам, в першу чергу дітям і молоді, серед яких ростимуть майбутні чемпіони. Євро-2012 переконала світову громадськість, що з Україною можна мати справу». Подякувавши усім, хто мав відношення до реконструкції «Олімпійського», Президент оголосив стадіон відкритим. І перед першими відвідувачами «Олімпійського» з’явилися артисти – циркачі з двох всесвітньо відомих італійських труп. Сучасний цирк – це ж, передусім, яскраве акробатичне шоу, а не традиційне «шапіто». Зовсім інший жанр і зовсім інше візуальне враження. Свобода, політ, яскравий образ – ось що таке сучасний цирк. Усьому цьому масштаб і атмосфера НСК «Олімпійський» відповідали якнайкраще. Артисти піднімалися вгору, до «неба» «Олімпійського», до його унікального хвилястого даху. Вони спускалися до землі разом з величезним червоним серцем і м’ячем Євро. Усе шоу італійців буквально світило любов’ю, силою і красою. Це було дуже красиво. Але наставав час пісні.

публікою. Ну а «Червона рута» Ані Лорак викликала шквал овацій на трибунах – виявилось, що цю пісню 70-х люблять навіть ті, хто народився набагато пізніше! Публіка була вже гарно «розігріта» перед концертом головної зірки вечора.

Усе шоу італійців буквально світило любов’ю, силою і красою. Це було дуже красиво 22:00 Декілька хвилин тиші. Публіка чекає. Запалюється світло – і над стадіоном звучить: «Ladies and gentlemen. SHAKIRA!» Сцена спалахує вогнями – і на ній гості «Олімпійського» бачать світову зірку, яка останнім часом частенько прикрашає футбольні події вищого рівня. Так, це – Шакіра, колумбійська богиня, яку чекав Київ, і яка із задоволенням відгукнулася на пропозицію стати першою зіркою арени світового рівня. І сотні любителів музики кинулися до сцени, де тут же виник імпровізований (хоча це й передбачалося) танцпол. Звичайно, це був вдалий вибір. За мелодикою репертуару, за темпераментом, за характером Шакіра дуже близька слов’янському менталітету. Напевно, тому й реакція на її виступ була такою шаленою. І сама Шакіра виявилася дуже «контактною» зіркою. Навіть витягнула на сцену декількох дівчат, запропонувавши «розділити» її танець. А коронним номером, звичайно, стала футбольна Waka Waka, почувши яку, «Олімпійський» захоплено заревів. І музика щільно заповнила увесь простір оновленого стадіону. Шакіра закінчила виступ, попрощалася з публікою трьома мовами та покинула сцену. І в цей момент над «Олімпійським» спалахнув фінальний феєрверк. Ми вже встигли покинути чашу стадіону – але з Троїцької площі піротехнічні «квіти» над відкритою ареною виглядали, напевно, ще ефектніше, ніж зсередини. Так закінчилося свято, якого чекали всі та яке перевершило всі очікування.

19:00 The start of the grand opening ceremony was planned for 20 o’clock. However, the people began ﬁlling up the approach to “Olimpiyskiy” as early as several hours before the show. Too great was their wish to see the performance which was supposed to produce unforgettable emotions. Those who had not yet lost the hope to buy a “spare ticket” were going round the stadium. Though, it was as plain as the nose on people’s face that this was a hopeless venture. There appeared much more people wishing to see the ceremony than the stadium could hold. Mild autumn evening shadows were sinking onto Kyiv. Gradually, NSC was putting its lights on. The darker it was getting the more showily it looked. The lighted stairs looked like a sparkling ramp of an aliens’ spaceship. Passing by the chain of friendly securities, we stepped onto one of these starlit stairs.

19:30 The holiday continued inside. The service justiﬁed the elite level of the stadium. The smiling girls from the fast-foods. The attentive stewards. The spacious passages on the way to the stands – when you are here, you feel involved in a special universe with its own value system. You are detached from usual problems and living in a special holiday rhythm. And outside, on the other side of

the glass façade, the city was ﬂickering; that night it was admiring its new miracle for the ﬁrst time. And we came into the stadium bowl. The white, yellow and blue seats wonderfully match the creamy roof. The light is smoothly distributed around the whole space. The scoreboards are sparkling with all their 4.4 trillion colors. And on the pitch (on the special plastic that covers it, to be exact) one can see businesslike fuss. These are the last preparations for the show, which causes impatient buzz on the stands…

Dramaturgy, choreography, scenario, show organization – everything combined in this performance, and the stands were watching it as if enchanted. The light support was highly impressive – that night everyone could ensure what fairy the spotlight system of “Olimpiyskiy” could show!

The exquisite colour of “Olimpiyskiy” is the best “frame” for our Olympic pride And when the stage Kyiv inhabitants threw down the three-head dragon, the symbol of all enemies of the “mother of the Russian cities”, from the Pechenegs to the Mongols, the stadium saw great ﬁreworks. sports venue, and the first arena to host football and other competitions in Kyiv appeared here as early as in 1923. The stadium was changing its shapes and names, it was called in honour of the various Communist Party leaders and then these rulings were abolished. However, the essence remained unchanged: the stadium situated near the Cherepanova Mountain remained the major one in Ukraine. Here, a Ukrainian team became the champion of the USSR for the first time – in 1961 Dynamo snatched the “gold” from the hands of the Muscovites to the joy of the Kyivans. Fourteen years later, the Kyiv team declassed the great Munich Bayern thus becoming the strongest club in the continent. The film carried the audience through almost nine decades and ended with an emotional moment delighted for the stands – Michel Platini is announcing that Ukraine and Poland has won the right to hold the Euro-2012 Football Championship. The lights are put on again – and the audience sees the parade of the young footballers dressed in uniforms of sixteen best football teams of Ukraine. The last are the leaders of the national football, Dynamo and Shakhtar. The Kyiv audience demonstrates its tolerance and friendliness by welcoming the both squads with almost equal enthusiasm. And there came performing artists anticipated with a special feeling, the circus performers from two world famous Italian companies. The modern circus is rather a bright acrobatic show than the traditional circus chapiteau. A completely different genre and a completely different visual impression. 22:00 Several minutes of silence. The audience is waiting. The lights put on and the people hear: Ladies and gentlemen… SHAKIRA! The stage flares up and the guests of “Olimpiyskiy” see the world star that lately has very often been giving her performances at the high level football events. Yes, this is Shakira, the Columbian goddess, whom Kyiv has been waiting for and who has gladly accepted the proposal to become the first world level star at the arena. And hundreds of music fans rushed to the stage, where the extemporary (though forecast) dance floor appeared at once.

Sure, it was a successful choice. In the melodics of her repertoire, the temper and the character, Shakira is very close to the Slavonic mentality. Maybe, that is why the feedback of her performance turned out to be so hot. Shakira herself proved to be a very “sociable” star. She even drew several girls to the stage and offered them to “share” her dance. But the blowoff of the performance was the football theme Waka Waka, and while hearing it, “Olimpiyskiy” roared. And the sound filled the entire territory of the renewed stadium densely and powerfully. Shakira ended and said good-bye to the audience in three languages. Then she left the stage. And at that very moment, the final fireworks lit up the sky over “Olimpiyskiy”. Двічі українська команда вела в рахунку з перевагою у два голи, проте залишилася задоволена нічиєю. М’ячі у ворота німецької збірної відправили Ярмоленко (28), Коноплянка (35) та Назаренко (45). А поцілити по воротах українців вдалося Крооcу (38), Рольфесу (65) та Мюллеру (77). Враження від футбольного відкриття НСК «Олімпійський» устами його учасників і головних героїв.

Перед грою «Нагнітання обстановки йде колосальне перед грою з Німеччиною. Це вже відчувалося задовго до матчу. Враховуючи відкриття стадіону, багато хто думає, що цей матч – визначальний. Олексій Батьковський: шоу керували з НАСА

Генеральний продюсер церемонії відкриття НСК «Олімпійський» Олексій Батьковський, він же головний режисер, автор ідеї, сценарію і композитор шоу, розповідає, з якими труднощами довелося зіткнутися, розкриває деякі секрети минулого дійства та пропонує заглянути за його лаштунки.

Організація • Олексію, скільки часу зайняла підготовка церемонії відкриття? Близько року. Шоу надзвичайно довго придумували, міняли шість або навіть сім разів, якщо можна так сказати, його образ. Безпосередньо на репетиції, що я хочу особливо підкреслити, у нас залишався всього місяць. Це враховуючи, що ми нікого з волонтерів не звільняли від навчання, а тому не могли репетирувати цілодобово.

Збиралися о п’ятій-шостій вечора та працювали три години. Згідно зі всіма стандартами й правилами за таку кількість репетиційного часу просто неможливо зробити таке масштабне унікальне шоу. Але з нашими людьми – можливо. Порівняймо: відкриття Олімпійських ігор у Пекіні репетирували півтора року. У Дубаї й Делі репетиції відкриття стадіонів тривали майже рік. Без усякого пафосу можу сказати, що ми поставили, напевно, світовий рекорд швидкоплинного вирішення надзвичайно складного завдання, яке нам поставили.

Opening

• Тобто, загалом часу насилу вистачило... Ось вам конкретні приклади. Коли в липні ми дзвонили іноземним колегам, щоб замовити, скажімо, звукове чи світлове обладнання, вказали всі необхідні специфікації та дані й дуже просили доставити якнайшвидше. Вони не розуміли й дивувалися такому поспіху – адже до шоу ще цілий рік і два місяці? А коли чули, що захід у жовтні цього року, то найпоширенішим словом у відповідь було «сrazy». «Шоу такого масштабу так швидко в світі не робить ніхто. Ви за що взагалі беретеся», – запитували вони, либонь, вважаючи нас за аферистів. Але в нас країна молода й швидка на підйом.

• Чи виникали в ході підготовки якісь непередбачувані обставини? Насамперед, багато часу й нервів забрала Шакіра, а точніше її оточення, котре, між тим, зірвало раніше контракт у Грозному в президента Чечні Кадирова. Найскладніше в організації шоу для нас полягало в тім, що за місяць до шоу всю розробку перекроїли. Спочатку сцена мала стояти в центрі поля та мати зовсім іншу конфігурацію, під яку вже готували всі матеріали, декорації та спецефекти. Але ось з’являються люди Шакіри, ставлять нам ультиматум, і ми фактично почали все з нуля. Проте ми однаково пишаємося тим, що «довезли» Шакіру до України, виконали всі її вимоги, які зазначені в райдері, аж до дрібниць, включаючи всі джипи, номери в готелях, бутерброди з ікрою й таке інше. Щоб там не було, вона зірка світового рівня, яка виступила в нас. А за неї, ще раз повторюся, багато чого вирішують її менеджери, які просто хочуть показати свою вагу.

• Окрім Шакіри, все пройшло в «штатному режимі»? Ні, виникали й інші надзвичайні події, і чисто технічні проблеми, але завдяки нашій професійній команді, яка може працювати днями й ночами, ми викрутилися, і загалом все пройшло на високому рівні. А так нам ще дуже не пощастило з погодою, через яку ми, по суті, не змогли провести останню репетицію. Але й це ще не все. Якщо розкривати деякі секрети, то, наприклад, за шість годин до початку через дощ згорів пульт керування вежею, яка унікальна сама собою. Полагодити вдалося в останній момент тільки завдяки особливим талановитим хлопцям з Харкова. Такі наші люди. Якщо б ми робили це з американцями або німцями, запевняю, що був би провал. Але наші здатні на все й виграють усі!

• Останню ніч перед відкриттям… …особисто я не спав. А втім я ще від 23 вересня спав по три години на добу, і разом зі мною за таким самим графіком працювала практично вся команда.

Керування • Олексію, чи можна трошки заглянути туди, звідки координували все шоу? Центр керування розташовувався на величезній пультовій, котру ми назвали пультова НАСА. Під її керуванням перебували численні комп’ютери, які управляють світлом, проекціями, екранами, звуком, піротехнікою, камерами й так далі й таке інше. Такий собі космічний центр, де в надзвичайно жорсткому графіку та ритмі трудилася наша міжнаціональна команда. Нам допомагали німці, росіяни, бельгійці. Говорити, що хтось один тримав, умовно кажучи, головний джойстик, не можна. Це робилося комплексно, а хтось один, може, й має нести відповідальність. грудень 2011

• Як склалося враження, публіка залишилась задоволеною... Знаєте, дуже відомі люди в країні, які часто їздять по світу й мають можливість бачити найрізноманітніші подібні заходи, підходили до мене й, не знаючи, хто насправді робив шоу, говорили: «Це зробив Голівуд…» Виходить, не соромно за країну, а це найголовніше. З другого боку, мене здивувала подальша реакція нашої преси, яку тільки й цікавив той шматок згорілого поліетилену. Чомусь ніхто не сказав, що це взагалі було унікальне для нашої країни шоу. Яку кількість людей до нього залучали та в які стислі строки його організували. Ніхто не сказав – молодці ті, хто танцював, співав, літав над полем і брав участь у побудові на ньому грандіозних фігур. Хто все це придумав й організував. І зрештою, спасибі, що впоралися й за Україну не соромно.

• Який епізод шоу схвилював найбільше саме вас? Усе, що було пов’язане з літальними конструкціями. Було надзвичайно приємно співпрацювати з артистами, яких поставили на ці сцени. Вони відгукнулися, приїжджали на всі репетиції, пропонували свої ідеї, писали пісні, заздалегідь готувалися до генеральних прогонів. Одним словом – професіонали.

Ідея проста: показати Україну сучасною, модною, модерновою країною. Зі своїм багатим національним колоритом та історією, але дуже сьогоденною

Дійство • Що можете сказати про волонтерів, які брали участь у шоу? Всі вони – молодці! Відпрацювали на славу і з надзвичайним задоволенням. Я бачив, що в них під час роботи горіли очі, а це найголовніше. По суті, доля шоу була зокрема в їхніх руках. Адже будь-яка дрібниця, навіть, умовно кажучи, вчасно невивезений віз, може зіпсувати загальне враження. Усього ми залучали біля 2500 волонтерів, і всі вони отримали заохочувальні призи у вигляді запрошень для своїх родичів і знайомих.

• Знову таки, якщо не таємниця, хто представляв Кия, Щека, Хорива і їхню сестру Либідь? Це хороші хлопці – музиканти з ансамблю «Дніпро», які погодилися, до речі, безкоштовно, зіграти ці ролі. Просто я знав, що вони дуже сумлінно, трепетно ставляться до таких понять, як Батьківщина, Україна. У шоу також брали участь артисти з нашого київського театру «Берегиня», з Київської академії мистецтв. Усім – навіть звичайним людям з вулиці – хто приходив до нас і виявляв бажання допомогти (а самі зробити таку пам’ять про відкриття НСК «Олімпійський» ми не могли), намагалися не відмовляти.

• У церемонії відкриття брала участь велика кількість дітей, а було досить холодно... Не без цього, але ми старалися зігрівати їх, чим могли. Спонсори, які взагалі ставилися до учасників шоу дуже тепло, постійно привозили гарячий чай і їжу. Годували дуже смачно та в необмеженій кількості.

• Висловлювалася думка, що ті фігури, які вибудовували на полі сотні людей, не завжди були зрозумілі. Хіба що з нижніх рядів нижнього ярусу. З верхніх і найголовніше в телеверсії все було ясно та зрозуміло. Насамперед ми мусили орієнтуватися на ту багатомільйонну аудиторію, яка перебувала біля екранів телевізорів. На жаль, доводилося мимоволі жертвувати інтересами деяких глядачів на стадіоні. Адже навіть сидячі в нижніх рядах відвідувачі могли, можна сказати, дихати повітрям шоу, а телеглядачі мали отримувати чітку візуальну картинку. Розуміння цього було від початку.

• Як би ви означили загальну ідею шоу церемонії відкриття НСК «Олімпійський» декількома словами? Насправді ідея проста: показати Україну сучасною, модною, модерновою країною. Зі своїм багатим національним колоритом та історією, але дуже сьогоденною. Готуючись, ми дотримувалися трьох гасел – модно, сучасно й креативно. У відведений термін ми спробували це зробити. 56

the show was controlled at NASA center The General Producer of the NSC Olimpiyskiy opening ceremony Oleksiy Batkovsky, being also the chief stage manager, the author of idea, scenario and show compositor, tells about the difficulties he had to face, discloses some secrets of the past event and offers to take a look behind “his scenes”.

Organization • Oleksiy, how long did it take you to prepare the opening ceremony? For about a year. It took a long time to think of the show; its image, if you like, was changed for six or even seven times. And we had only a month right for rehearsals, I would emphasize that. This considering that we did not free anybody of volunteers from their study and that’s why we couldn’t rehearse around the clock. We gathered at ﬁve – six p. m. and were working for three hours. According to all standards and rules it is simply impossible to make such a large-scale unique show during such a period of rehearsal time. But with our people – it really is. Just to compare: the opening of the Olympic Games in Beijing had been rehearsed almost for a year and a half. Rehearsals for opening of stadiums in Dubai and Delhi were under way almost for a year. Without any pathos I would like to say that probably we have achieved a world record in ﬂuidity while solving the most complicated problem set to us.

• That is to say you had a great lack of time… Here are some actual examples. When in July we phoned our foreign colleges to order, say, some audio or light equipment, upon giving speciﬁcation and all necessary data in a mandatory manner we demanded the shortest delivery terms. They did not understand and were very surprised about such a hurry; after all there was a whole year and two months before the show? And when they heard that the event would be in October this year the most common word was “crazy”. 58

Opening

Nobody in the world makes the show of such a scale so fast. “What do you actually put your hands in?”, – they used to ask, considering that we are probably crooks. But our country is young and inventive.

• Did you face any force-majeure circumstances during preparation? First of all, Shakira took a lot of time and nerves, and to a greater extent, her surrounding, which, by the way, earlier had defeated a contract in Groznyy at the Chechnia President’s Kadyrov. The greatest complexity of show organization was in the fact that by a month before the show the whole working-out was remade. Initially the stage was to be in the field center and of completely another configuration, and all materials, decorations and special effects had been already prepared for it. But here we have Shakira’s people with an ultimatum, and actually we started everything from nothing. Nevertheless, we are still proud to have “given a ride” of Shakira to Ukraine, to have met all her requests specified in the rider, up to the last comma, including all jeeps, hotel rooms, sandwiches with caviar and so on and so forth. One way or another, she is a world celebrity and she performed at our place. And I’d like to repeat once more that her managers, who want just to show their significance, decide many things instead of her.

• Was everything “as planned”, except for Shakira? No, there were also some other emergencies, and purely technical problems, but due to our professional team capable of working day and night,

we wriggled out, and in general everything was at the level. Also we were very lucky to have a good weather, which actually prevented us to hold the last rehearsal. But it is not all. To disclose some secrets, for example, six hours from the beginning the rain caused failure of the control board operating the boat being unique by itself. We managed to eliminate the failure at the last moment only due to our talented fellows from Kharkov. Such our men are. If we would do that with the Americans or the Germans, I’m sure, it would be a collapse. But our men are capable of anything and win everything!

• The last night before opening… …personally I had insomnia. However, starting from September 23 I had only three hours for sleeping in a day, and practically all the team was working together with me according to the same schedule.

Management • Oleksiy, can we take a glance at the place realizing coordination of the whole show? The control center was in the huge control room, which we used to call NASA control room. It realized control of numerous computers providing operation of light, projections, screens, sound, pyrotechnics, cameras and so on and so forth. A kind of cosmic center, where our international team was working according to a very strict schedule and at high rate. The Germans, the Russians, the Belgians helped us. This is not to say that one person was holding, so to say, the main control joystick. It was in

complex, but someone may and must bear responsibility.

• As far as can be judged by the audience, it was satisfied …. You know, very famous people in the country travelling around the world a lot and having a possibility to see the most various similar events came up to me, not knowing in fact who made the show, and told that it was done by Hollywood. It means that there is no shame for the country and it’s the most

Representation • What can you say about volunteers participating in the show? They are all great fellows – what else? They worked very well and with great pleasure. I saw that their eyes were sparkling while working and this is the most important. The show destiny was essentially in their hand also. Because any triﬂe, even, so to say, a wagon not removed in time may impair general representation. About 2500 volunteers were engaged in general and they all got recognition gifts in form of invitation cards to their relatives and friends.

• Who represented Kyi, Schek, Khoriv and their sister Lybid, if not a secret? They are some good fellows – musicians from “Dnipro” ensemble, who agreed, by the way, to play these parts free of charge. I just knew that they treat such notions as Motherland, Ukraine very consciously and reverently. The show was also participated by artists from our Kyiv theatre “Bereginya”, from Kyiv Academy of Arts. We tried not to refuse to everybody, even to a common man of the street coming to us and expressing the desire to help us, and to get such a memory of the NSC Olimpiyskiy opening.

The concept is simple – to show Ukraine as an up-to-date, fashionable, modern country. With its rich national coloration and history, but present-day important. From the other hand, I was surprised by the subsequent reaction of our press, which was interested only in a piece of burnt polyethylene called a fire. For some reason nobody said that for our country this show was actually unique. What number of people was engaged in it and what tight deadlines left for its organization. Nobody said: good fellows are those dancing, singing, flying above the field and participating in construction of grand figures thereon. No word about those, who invented and organized everything. And, finally, thank you that you’ve managed and for no shame for Ukraine.

• What episode in the show was the most exciting personally for you? Everything related to the ﬂying structures. It was especially pleasant to work with artists engaged in these scenes. They came forward, arrived to all rehearsals, oﬀered their ideas, wrote songs, prepared to general camera rehearsals beforehand. In a word – professionals. 60

• A great number of children took part in the opening ceremony, though it was rather cold… Not without that, but we tried to warm them as we could. Sponsors, who generally treated the show participants very warmly, were regularly taking hot tea ad food. Meals were very delicious and plentiful.

• There was an opinion that those figures built on the field by means of hundreds of people were not always understandable. Perhaps looking from the lower rows of the lower deck. From the top ones, and essentially, in tele-version everything was clear and understandable. In the first place we had to be oriented at the multimillion audience watching on the television screens. Alas, some spectators in the stadium had to be sacrificed. Because even those sitting in the lower rows had an opportunity to breath, so to say, the show air, but television viewers must get a well-defined visual picture. We initially had this conception.

• How would you express the general idea of the NSC Olimpiyskiy opening ceremony show in a few words? In fact the concept is simple – to show Ukraine as an up-to-date, fashionable, modern country. With its rich national coloration and history, but very present-day. During the preparation we has abided the three rules – stylishly, upto-date and creatively. We tried to do it on the given time.

The NSC Olimpiyskiy is the largest sports arena to host Euro 2012. Its total area amounts to 145.741 square metres, which is approximately equal to ﬁfteen Trafalgar squares.

За свою майже 90-річну історію головна спортивна арена країни 10 разів змінювала свою назву. Своє нинішнє ім’я НСК «Олімпійський» отримав у 1996 році. Таким чином, київський стадіон приєднався до неофіційного клубу олімпійських арен, куди входять споруди в Амстердамі, Берліні, Парижі, Римі, Токіо та ще в 20 містах світу. The country’s major sports arena was renamed 10 times during its almost 90 year history. The NSC Olimpiyskiy received its present name in 1996. So, the Kyiv stadium joined the informal “club” of Olympic arenas, which includes the facilities in Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris, Rome, Tokyo and other twenty cities of the world.

У наступному році на «Олімпійському» пройдуть три матчі групового етапу, один з чвертьфіналів та фінал Євро-2012. The NSC Olimpiyskiy hosted the football tournament of the XXII Olympic Games in 1980 under the name of the the Republikansky Stadium. At that time, there were six group tournament matches and one quarterfinal. Next year, the NSC Olimpiyskiy will host three matches of the group tournament, one of the quarterfinals and the final of Euro-2012.

Пропонуємо вам десять історичних подій у 88-річної хроніці НСК «Олімпійський», які відбулися у цi ж мiсяцi – у жовтні та листопаді. In autumn the second birth of NSС Olympiyskiy took place. In October, it was the opening ceremony, in November – the first match played at the new field. Here are ten historical events in the 88-year history of NSC Olympiyskiy that occurred in these same months – in October and November.

Перша «динамівська»

First “Dynamo”

У листопаді 1927 року, з ініціативи громадськості, в Києві була організована футбольна команда «Динамо». Це був період, коли в столиці України вже змагалися за першість такі команди, як «Залдор», «Местран», «Севработнік», «Райкомвод», «Работпрос», «Шкіряник». Ось тоді-то такі палкі шанувальники футболу, як Барминський, Санніков, Мурашов, Терентьєв, Піропетій, Трофимов та інші, що згодом стали легендарними особистостями, вирішили організувати команду «Динамо». Новонароджений футбольний колектив спочатку виглядав не дуже переконливо. Але вже через рік, коли склад «Динамо» поповнився технічними футболістами інших команд – Ідзковський, Дишкант, Бойко, Бардадімом, Рейнгольдом – став міцнішим і змусив звернути на себе увагу. І ось у листопаді 1928 року на полі «Червоного стадіону» динамівці вперше поклали на лопатки найсильнішу тоді команду Києва – «Залдор». Перша гучна перемога «Динамо»!

The football club “Dynamo” was created by public initiative in Kyiv in November 1927. It was the time, during which such teams as “Zaldor”, “Mestran”, “Sevrabotnik”, “Raikomvod”, “Rabotpros”, and “Shkiryannik” were competing for the first prize. Just then, such ardent football fans as Barminskiy, Sannikov, Murashov, Terentiev, Piropetiy, Trofimov and others, who later became legendary individuals, made a decision to organize the “Dynamo” club. At first the newly born football group didn’t look very convincing, but in a year, when such technical players from other teams as Idzkovskiy, Dishkant, Boyko, Bardadim, and Reingold were added to the “Dynamo” player list, it became more powerful and made itself recognizable. Namely “Dynamo” club pinned the strongest Kyiv club of that period “Zaldor” to the mat on the “Red stadium” field for the first time in November 1928. The first great victory of “Dynamo”!

28 жовтня 1943 року – День визволення України від німецькофашистських загарбників, коли радянські війська вийшли на сучасні кордони України. Лічені дні залишалися до визволення Києва. Глибоко символічно, що один з перших «мирних» указів керівництва республіки був саме про київський стадіон. Тодішній керівник Української РСР Н.С. Хрущов особисто поставив перед архітекторами та будівельниками конкретне завдання – приведення арени у відповідність з довоєнними проектами і з обов’язковим доопрацюванням. По-перше, доробити те, що не було вчасно зроблено (урядова трибуна, спортивний павільйон з колонадою, паркан тощо), а по-друге, вирішити питання освітлення футбольного поля для проведення матчів у вечірній час і встановлення сучасного табло. Налагодження мирного життя було нерозривно пов’язано зі стадіоном, який був урочисто відкритий вже в червні 1944 року. А в жовтні переможного 1945-го в Києві з розмахом пройшла Республіканська Спартакіада.

October the 28th is the Day of Deliverance of Ukraine from German-fascist occupants, when Soviet army forces came to the modern borders of Ukraine. Just a few days were left before freeing Kyiv. It is highly symbolical that one of the ﬁrst “peaceful” decrees of the Republican government dealt with the very Kyiv stadium. Then the Secretary of Ukrainian SSR N.S. Khrushchev personally assigned architects and constructors to rebuild the arena in accordance with pre-war projects obligatory improvements. First of all, it was required to ﬁnish whatever was not made in time (governmental stands, sport gallery hall, fence, etc.), then, lighting of the football pitch and a modern scoreboard must be arranged for holding matches at night. The establishment of peaceful life was closely connected with the stadium, which was solemnly opened in June 1944. Kyiv hosted a grand Republican sports contest in victorious 1945.

17 жовтня 1961 року київське «Динамо» в матчі з харківським «Авангардом» добилося потрібного для себе результату (0:0), який приніс команді зі столиці України перші золоті медалі чемпіонату СРСР. Показово, що це був перший випадок в історії чемпіонатів Радянського Союзу, коли звання чемпіона країни вибороли не представники Москви. За офіційними даними, на тому пам’ятному матчі, який проходив при досить рідкісному для тих часів штучному освітленні, на переповненому «Республіканському стадіоні імені Н.С. Хрущова» свою улюблену команду підтримували 67 000 уболівальників (при тому, що місткість стадіону складала близько 50 тисяч глядачів). Після закінчення зустрічі на трибунах арени трапилося і зовсім щось небачене: в прозорому повітрі теплого осіннього київського вечора засвітилися тисячі вогників. Це уболівальники, святкуючи перше «золото», майже разом запалили з газет міні-факели. Народилася ще одна знаменита динамівська традиція.

“Dynamo” got the necessary score (0:0) playing against Kharkiv “Avangard” on October 17 ,1961. This result brought the team from the capital of Ukraine first golden medals of the USSR championship. It was significant, because it was the first time in the championship history of the USSR, when champion title was won not by Moscow team. According to the official information, 67 000 “Dynamo” fans came to overcrowded Khrushchev republican stadium (which could only hold 50 thousand visitors) to support their favorite club. When the match was over something much unexpected happened in the stands of the arena: thousands of lights glittered in the transparent air of warm fall Kyiv evening. These were fans, which almost simultaneously made minitorches out of newspapers, celebrating the first “gold”. Thus another famous Dynamo tradition was born.

У 1966 році було розпочато другу генеральну реконструкцію стадіону, в ході якої будівля була розширена і добудований другий ярус трибун, що було основою всього проекту. Другий ярус трибун вперше у світовій практиці був змонтований на оригінальних залізобетонних двоконсольних ригелях. Двохярусна чаша трибун стадіону була розрахована на унікальну для Радянського Союзу тих років кількість глядачів – усього 100 062 місця! Також був побудований репортерський комплекс над верхнім ярусом західної трибуни, де на високих опорах були змонтовані коментаторські кабіни, а також побудовано трамплін для стрибків на лижах. Також було встановлено два нових електронних табло розміром 18х6 метрів: зліва відображалися час, дата та температура повітря, а праворуч – назви команд, рахунок матчу і автори забитих м’ячів. За планом здавали стадіон, в дусі традицій того часу, до святкування ювілейної річниці Жовтневої революції в листопаді 1967 року.

First one hundred thousand The second general reconstruction of the stadium was started in 1966, during which the stadium was widened and the second tier of stands was built, which was the basis of the whole project. The second tier was mounted upon authentic reinforced concrete double-cantilever beams, the ﬁrst time in the world practice. The two-tier bowl of stands was made to hold a unique for the USSR number of spectators –100 062 seats in total! The reporter section was also constructed over the upper tier of the western stand, where commentator cabins were built on the tall bearings, as well as the ski jump. Two new electronic 18х6 m scoreboards were also installed: the left one indicated the time, date and air temperature, and the right one – team names, the match score and the authors of the scored goals. According to the traditions of that time, the stadium was put into operation at the commemoration day of October revolution in November 1967.

Перший суперкубковий 6 жовтня 1975 року сталася одна з найзнаменніших подій в історії не тільки українського, але і всього радянського футболу. У цей день київське «Динамо» завоювало Суперкубок УЄФА, ставши найсильнішою командою континенту. У двораундової дуелі динамівці переграли знамениту «Баварію» Франца Беккенбауера, Зеппа Майера та Герда Мюллера. У першому матчі 9 вересня в Мюнхені кияни, не зважаючи на відсутність Веремєєва, Онищенка, Мунтяна та Матвієнка, здобули перемогу 1:0. У середині другого тайму після свого знаменитого сольного проходу забив Олег Блохiн. У матчі-відповідi кращий футболіст Європи 1975 року на полі київського Центрального стадіону відзначився двома забитими м’ячами. Фінальний свисток, який зафіксував переконливу перемогу динамівців, потонув в скандуванні трибун «Мо-лод-ці»!

Саме під час матчу на тоді Центральному стадіоні Києва збірна СРСР під керівництвом Валерія Лобановського 12 листопада 1975 року розгромила команду Швейцарії з рахунком 4:1 і забезпечила собі перше місце в групі і потрапляння по тодішній системі розіграшу відразу до чвертьфіналу чемпіонату Європи. У складі господарів поля на радість численних глядачів голи забивали Коньков, Онищенко (двічі) та Веремєєв. Як з неприхованим ентузіазмом відзначала спортивна преса тих років, «Радянська збірна грала в цій зустрічі з великим натхненням, і зусилля її не залишилися без нагороди» (газета «Радянський спорт» від 13.11.1975), а також «Збірна СРСР за рік перевірила себе в ряді відповідальних матчів, переконалася, що здатна перемагати і в середу навіть без натяку на бояз-

First Super Cup One of the most important events in the history of not just Ukrainian, but rather all the Soviet Union football, took place on October the 6th, 1975. This was the day when “Dynamo” Kyiv won the UEFA Super Cup and became the best team of the continent. The famous “Bayern” of Franz Beckenbauer, Sepp Maier and Gerd Muller was outplayed in the tworound duel. Despite the absence of Veremeev, Onishchenko, Muntyan and Matvienko the Kyiv club achieved the score of 1:0 in the ﬁrst match in Munich on September 9. Oleg Blokhin scored a goal after his famous solo passage in the middle of the second time. The best European football player of 1975 distinguished himself by 2 scored goals on the pitch of Kyiv central stadium during the return match. The ﬁnal signal that determined the convincing victory of the “Dynamo” club was drowned by the stands’ chanting “Well done”!

�e first tournament It was the match at the Central stadium of Kyiv, when the team of the USSR under the command of Valeriy Lobanovsky crushed the Switzerland team with the score of 4:1 on November the 12th, 1975 and got the first place in the group that assured its getting right to the quarterfinal of Europe Championship according to the tournament system. Kyiv players Konkov, Onishchenko (twice) and Veremeev scored goals to the joy of numerous spectators. As it was said by the written media with unhidden enthusiasm, “The Soviet team played this match with great inspiration, and its efforts were rewarded” (the “The Soviet sport” newspaper of November the 13th, 1975), and also “The USSR team tried itself in a number of important matches during the year, became sure it could win, and started acting in its usual manner with no sign of fear or nervousness on Wednesday. So, the main task of the year for our team was successfully accomplished” (“Football-Hockey” Weekly # 46, 1975).

Перший історичний 12 жовтня 1994 року був проведений матч, в якому збірна України набрала перші історичні очки: в скарбничку рейтингу країни в цілому, та у відбірковому циклі до чемпіонату Європи 1996 року зокрема. У тій пам’ятній зустрічі на полі столичного Республіканського стадіону українці під керівництвом головного тренера Йожефа Сабо зіграли внічию 0:0 з командою Словенії. На матчі були присутні лише вісім з половиною тисяч глядачів, що втім, не дивно, враховуючи складний період становлення, який тоді переживала незалежна Україна. Свою ж першу перемогу, причому більш ніж упевнену, «жовто-блакитні» отримають у наступному матчі, який, до речі, пройде на поки ще Республіканському рівно через місяць.

First historical The match, in which the national team of Ukraine scored its first historical points in the country rating and the qualifying cycle of the European championship of 1996, was held on October the 12th, 1994. In that memorable match the Ukrainian team under the command of the head coach Yozef Sabo played in a draw 0:0 with the Slovenian team on the field of the Republican stadium. There were only 8.5 thousand spectators present at the match, which was not surprising, taking into account the difficult times that an independent Ukraine was coming through. The “yellow and blue” team gained a very confident victory in the next match, which, by the way, was hosted by the still Republican stadium exactly in one month. 76

У холодний, вже по зимовому морозний, вечір 25 листопада 1998 року київське «Динамо» на НСК «Олімпійському» обіграло в непростому поєдинку грецький «Панатінаїкос», поставивши ефектну крапку в розіграші групового турніру Ліги чемпіонів. Поступаючись після першого тайму з мінімальним рахунком, феноменальна команда Лобановського зуміла здобути вольову перемогу з рахунком 2:1 і фактично забезпечити собі перше місце в групі Е. Попереду у київських динамівців, яких у тому сезоні Ліги чемпіонів 1998-1999 років називали «відкриттям турніру» і «феноменом Лобановського», ще буде сенсаційна перемога в протистоянні з мадридським «Реалом» і вихід в півфінал, в якому вони тільки по чистій випадковості поступилися мюнхенській «Баварії». Той вихід «Динамо» в півфінал Ліги чемпіонів і до сих пір є кращим результатом українських клубів в європейських кубках.

On the cold, almost winter frosty evening of November the 25th, 1998 “Dynamo” Kyiv scored a diﬃcult victory over Greek “Panathinaikos”, showy ﬁnishing the qualifying group tournament of the Champions League, at NSC Olimpiyskiy. After losing with a minimal score in the first half the phenomenal team of Lobanovsky managed to gain a determined victory 2:1 and actually got the first place in the group Е. “Dynamo” Kyiv club, which was called “the breakthrough of the tournament” and “Lobanovskiy phenomenon” during the season of the Champions League 1998-1999, was awaiting a sensational victory over “Real” Madrid and getting to the semifinal, where it lost to “Bayern” Munich by sheer accident. This semifinal “Dynamo” participation is still the best result for Ukrainian teams in Champions League.

Перший грандіозний 8 жовтня 2011 року – епохальна подія в новітній історії НСК «Олімпійський». Урочиста церемонія відкриття стадіону після його грандіозної реконструкції, яка перетворила Національний спортивний комплекс в суперсучасну, універсальну і багатофункціональну спортивну арену для проведення і футбольних матчів, і легкоатлетичних змагань міжнародного рівня. Крім цього, НСК «Олімпійський» заново відкриває свої двері для грандіозних музичних шоу світового масштабу. Свого часу тут вже виступала легендарна рок-група Deep Purple, почавши саме звідси своє знайомство з Україною. Відносно нещодавно «Олімпійський» приймав знаменитого співака Джорджа Майкла. Зараз про своє бажання заспівати на новій арені однією з перших заявила українська співачка Міка Ньютон, яка зайняла четверте місце на «Євробаченні-2011» Ну і відкриття оновленого НСК «Олімпійський» було відзначено великою кількістю сюрпризів, про які читайте в цьому ж номері.

Визначним фактом можна вважати перший гол на оновленому “Олімпійському”, який у ворота суперників забили саме господарі!

November the 11th, 2011 – is the crucial date in the history of NSC Olimpiyskiy and Ukrainian football in general. The ﬁrst game of the Ukraine national football team took place at the reconstructed stadium. The Ukrainians played a friendly match with the Germany national football team that day. A surprisingly interesting and dramatic match ended with the score 3:3. A determining fact one may consider that it was the home players who kicked the ﬁrst goal to the opponents’ gates at the reconstructed Olimpiyskiy!

October the 8th, 2011 is an epoch-making event in the modern history of NSC Olimpiyskiy. This was the date of the official inauguration ceremony of the stadium after its grandiose reconstruction, which made the National sport complex to be a state-ofthe-art universal and multifunctional sport arena that is able to host football matches and track and field events on the international level. Besides that NSC Olimpiyskiy again welcomes grandiose music shows of the international scale. By the way, the legendary band “Deep Purple” had this stadium as their first concert ground in Ukraine, and a well-known singer George Michael has recently performed here too. One of the first singers to declare her intention to perform on the new arena was a Ukrainian Mika Newton, who took the fourth place in Eurovision-2011... But the very inauguration of NSC Olimpiyskiy, as it is already wellknown to everyone, had a lot of ‘star’ surprises planned. You may read about them in the current issue.

Нова реальнiсть The new reality

«Поринь у гру!» – під таким девізом пройшла неординарна подія, організована 3 листопада НСК «Олімпійський» та Американською торговою палатою в Україні. Місцем проведення чергової зустрічі Капітанів індустрії (глав компаній-членів Палати) був обраний Олімпійський дворик головної спортивної арени України. Саме там, крім неформального спілкування топ-менеджерів міжнародного бізнесу, що працюють на українському ринку, відбулася презентація оновленого спортивного комплексу після його реконструкції.

апітани індустрії мали можливiсть стати участниками трьох екскурсій, котрi познайомили гостей VIP рівня з оновленим НСК «Олімпійський», продемонстрували весь потенціал та можливості багатофункціональної арени після її модернізації. На початок, гостям показали найбільш мальовниче місце арени – Олімпійський дворик. Далi була конференц-зона, де гості оглянули малі конференц-зали, і Холл Чемпіонів. Кожен із залів забезпечений за останнім словом техніки сучасним звуковим і мультимедійним обладнанням. Холл Чемпіонів – це навiть бiльше, нiж щось особливе. Можливість його зонування залежно від концепції події, дозволяє провести в ньому захід будь-якого формату и перетворює його на справжнє диво. Далі гості попрямували в зону гравців. Актуальності екскурсії додавало те, що рівно через тиждень ці ж стіни приймали збірну України перед відповідальним матчем – першою грою на оновленому НСК «Олімпійський»! Для того, щоб посилити момент «занурення в реальність», екскурсантам було запропо-

новано розділитися на 2 команди і вийти на поле так, як через кілька днів вийшли збірні України та Німеччини. Наступний етап екскурсії – презентація унікальної мембрани, гордості оновленого «Олімпійського», а також iнших елементiв стадiону – газону ігрового поля, бігових доріжок, табло та інших цікавих об’єктів. Гості протестували сидіння бізнес-сектора, власноручно перевіривши їх «антивандальні» якостi і рівень стійкості покриттів. Досвід довів якість сидінь – і гості піднялися в галерею 1 ярусу. У лаунж-зоні 2 рівня гостям розповіли про можливість проведення тут спеціальних заходів, після чого всіх запросили відвідати Президентський панорамний скай-бокс і сусідню ложу на 24 місця. Це був потужний фінальний акорд, найвища точка екскурсії. НСК «Олімпійський» по-справжньому зачарував гостей, дозволивши їм зануритися в світ великого спорту і видатних масштабів.

“Get in the game!” – under such a motto an extraordinary event was organized by NSC Olimpiyskiy and the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine on November 3rd. Olimpic Court, one of the most beautiful places of the main sports arena was chosen to hold the regular meeting of Captains of Industry (Heads of the member companies, of the Chamber). Exactly there a presentation of renewed sports complex after its reconstruction took place, beside the informal communication of international business senior executives presenting the Ukrainian market today.

VIP guests were familiarized with the renewed NSC Olimpiyskiy, they were also demonstrated the full potential and possibilities of multifunctional arena after its modernization. At the beginning the visitors were shown the most picturesque arena’s place – Olympic Court. Conference zone, where the guests saw over the small conference halls, and Champions Hall were the next ones. Each hall is equipped with the up-to-date sound and multimedia equipment. Champions Hall is even more than something special.. It can be zoned depending on the event concept that allows to host the event of any format and turn it into a real miracle. Then the guests went to the players’ zone. of “immersing in reality” visitors were proposed to be divided into 2 teams and enter the pitch in the same manner as in a few daUkarainian and German national teams would do. The next tour stage was the presentation of a unique membrane, pride of the renewed “Olimpiyskiy” as well as other interesting stadium elements – pitch , running tracks, giantscreens and other interesting objects. Guests tested seats in the business sector, personally checking its “antivandal” quality and the level of covering hardness. Experience proved the quality of the seats,and the guests went to the gallery of the 1st tier. In the lounge zone of the second level guests were told about the possibility of holding the special events and then all of them were invited to visit the Presidential panoramic sky box and the adjacent box for 24 guests. It was a powerful ﬁnal chord, the highest point of the excursion. Особливою популярністю протягом Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kiev користувалася освітня програма від головних світових fashion-експертів, до якої кожен охочий міг долучитися безкоштовно. Лекції Валері Стіл (доктора наук Єльського університету, директора нью-йоркського музею Інституту технології моди) і Крістофера Брюарда (кураторa лондонського музею Вікторії та Альберта, директора Единбурзького коледжу мистецтв) показали, що інтерес до теми моди зростає все більше і потреба в інформації від професіоналів світової модної індустрії в Україні тільки збільшується. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kiev виконує місію просування і розвитку молодих дизайнерів, тому покази на малому подіумі зайняли рівноцінне місце в програмі події. В рамках програми Pretenders також були представлені LAN’, Roman Lazar та інші молоді дизайнери. Це перша подія на території оновленого міжнародного спорткомплексу «Олімпійський» з моменту його відкриття. The most successful during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kiev was the free extensive educational program of the world’s top fashion-experts. Lectures by Valerie Steele (PhD at Yale University, director of the Museum of the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York) and Christopher Breward (curator of Victoria and Albert Museum, London, Director of Edinburgh College of Art) have shown that interest in the topic of fashion is growing more and the necessity of information from professionals of the world fashion industry in Ukraine is increasing. 11 lectures were held during three days and delivered by international experts of the fashion world. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kiev fulfills the mission of promotion and development of young designers, so the shows on small podium took an equivalent place in the event program. The collections were presented by Ruslan Panchuk, Yulia Ivanskaya, Yasya Hmenko, Dina Linnik for It’s Me, Kseniya Olefirenko, Olha and Victoria Borovik, Ruslan Corsinov and Yuliya Korpacheva.
