THE HIGH MARKET: PROGRAM The “High Market”, located in Guelph, Ontario, focuses on a holistic living experience providing users with spaces to live, shop, eat, exercise, entertain & hang. The market is designed to be accessed through all 360 degrees without the interruption of parking and service spaces, These spaces have been segregated to an underground structure that itself allows the creation of two different exterior levels through the manipulation of the site. The market space itself is designed to act as the heart of the building by tying up the various programmatic areas in the building through a grand, multi-story high open space. Divided up into two levels to support the diversity of products being sold, the market is then flanked by restaurant and retail wings to support its activities. Acting as a beacon to the west of the main entrance, a multi-story tower houses offices, educational spaces and restaurants at the very top. On the east side of the building, a 3 story class-A living space sits above one of the commercial wings, while towards the back of the building, an auditorium and a multi-story gymnasium serve the purpose of a human exhibition for health and active living.

The building connects the different areas in terms of space, program and typology through a variety of exterior and interior environments.

The existing site is divided into two different levels to provide a variety of exterior support spaces and to allow the introduction of parking and service areas below the programmatic spaces.

Service & Parking spaces are segregated to street adjacent areas and underground spaces in order to reduce their effects on the walkability and enjoyment of the diverse programmatic areas.

The building’s glass clad façades are oriented towards the sun to passively heat the building in the cool climate of Guelph, Ontario.

The market’s roof structure is designed to collect water and passively support the residential and commercial spaces with the reduction of external grey water necessities.

SAVANNAH PIERS The concept of Savannah Piers serves as a model neighborhood for the existing Historic Downtown Savannah to follow in the future. Some driving forces in our concept development include the intregration of water into the city, redefining the historic ward system and sustainability. The ward system is a major design influence currently within Savannah, we plan to improve the current standard and influence the rest of Historic Savannah. This urban area would be useful and attractive to all demographics, including but not limited to; local residents, tourists, students and staff of all business types.

SAVANNAH PIERS: PROGRAM Savannah Piers serves as a model neighborhood for the existing Historic Downtown Savannah to follow in the future. The development includes four residential building blocks that conform two reimagined modern wards housing a variety of retail spaces, amenities and residential units. On the Sotheast corner of the development, a beacon acting as the entrance to the Savannah Piers provides an enjoyable covered exterior area along with a small office block for use by city officials. On the Southwest corner, the largest edifice in the development withholds a major parking structure that sits below a commercial hub that connects to the new Savannah Cultural Center on the water. As transitional elements in the center of the development, stand alone buildings serve for professional and educational purposes while connecting the residential blocks to the extending piers into the Savannah River.
