Introduction Andrew Bebee is a graduate from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln’s Landscape Architecture Program with a focus in Horticulture. Andrew has a diverse work experience within the Landscape Architecture field including conceptual design, construction documentation, public meeting facilitation, landscape installation, and landscape maintenance. Being a Nebraska Native, growing up next to a wooded area, and spending time at his grandparent’s farm has fostered a strong connection to the land and the Midwest.

Table Creek Network Recreation Restoration Resilience a comprehensive look at nebraska city’s trail system
_________________________________ The Table Creek Network will connect a strong community together with an alternative transportation system. With the integration of public art, education, and landmarks, residents and visitors can discover the cultural richness and historic trees while supporting the local economy. Geographic Location The Table Creek System is two streams running through Nebraska City. These streams are an integral part of the development of Nebraska City. The two creeks drain from the Western agriculture land, through the bluffs, and into the Missouri River in the East. They separate the city into 3 main portions and are a barrier that has been spanned by numerous bridges. Both channels are deep wtih very steep slopes down to the water with high potential for erosion. Bioremediation The history of the site is largely industrial and river transportation based. These industries typically have a negative impact on the local environment due to possible contamination from industrial waste. To increase the health of the land and water, the damaged soil needs to be repaired by a biological process called bioremediation. By introducing amended soils and plants, the biology of the soil will be restored and over time will help to cleanse the soil and water.
Walk & Bike Nebraska City can improve pedestrian experience by providing a streetscape that is walkable and able to be navigated safely and efficiently by pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. Trail System + Open Space The floodplain corridor and a connection to downtown by Central Avenue offers a unique opportunity to connect a trail system through the site and integrate Open Spaces through out. Open Spaces can function as public spaces, flood relief, wetlands, or habitat. People and Corridors Recreational use is enhanced by the continuous nature of environmental corridors. This extends the quality of hunting, fishing, canoeing, hiking, and even touring by bicycle or motor vehicle where parkways exist. Beyond the features already mentioned, environmental corridors may also contain historic sites and structures, and scenic vistas. Environmental corridors are in effect a composite of the best remaining elements of the natural resource base. Protection and proper management of the resources found within them helps prevent serious environmental problems. Fish and wildlife, songbirds, native plant distribution, and even clean water are all dependent upon movement through environmental corridors—and upon the vital functions they perform.

Middle Blue River Community Reclamation Collaboration planning with the community and specialized partners
_________________________________ “The Blue River is a vibrant, resilient river corridor in a protected water shed. It boasts healthy and forested riparian corridors, with abundant habitat for wildlife. It connects people to the outdoors, with hiking and links to a regional network of trails and greenways and connections to rural assets. The river is a jewel in a world class city, and centerpiece of a revitalized neighborhood
Geographic Location
The Blue River is a 39.6 mile long river that runs from the rural lands of the Kansas Prairie to the North into Missouri and Kansas city. After snaking through Eastern Kansas city, it empties into the Missouri River. Much of the river is naturalistic and under developed for recreation or stormwater management. The lower portion, in an industrial district, is channelized, coated with concrete and regularly mowed grass.
Flooding and Channelization
Water Quality
Upper Watershed Water Quality is high until it’s sewage treatment plan on Indian Creek. The lower half continues to deteriorate due to the industrial uses along the river. Fishkills, from low dissolved oxygen levels and frequent chemical spills, are common in the lower half of the river.
NPS RTCA Project
From 2015-2016, the National Park Service has partnered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Heartland Conservation Alliance, and Mid America Regional Council (MARC) on the Middle Blue River “Renew The Blue” Project. Mapping and educational materials were produced for 4 community meetings in high impact neighborhoods. These meetings will help to guide future projects and include the community in the entire design process. Stakeholders have expressed a frustration with city projects, due to lack of true community involvement
NPS RTCA Project
Major Flooding of the Blue River has occurred in 1927, 1928, 1951, 1961, 1993, 1998, and 1977. 1961, The Channelization of the Blue River began to mitigate begins.
“There is a need to publicize recreational opportunities and improve access to these natural areas. There is also a need to increase public awareness and appreciation for these resources to promote advocacy for watershed streams.” - Missouri Department of Conservation

PSU Athletics Masterplan Connection Excellence Tradition creating state of the art training and competition venues for student athletes
_________________________________
PSU - 2016 Athletic Master Plan Geographic Location State College, Pennsylvania
Connection Pennsylvania State University’s athletic facilities are spread throughout campus, separating the teams to their own corners of campus. This makes it difficult for students to connect with those outside of their sport and for the teams to share facilities. Having a more unified athletic district would increase the students experience on campus and reduce unnecessarily redundancies. Excellence PSU’s athletic teams are competing at a high level and their facilities need to reflect the passion and presige of the teams, coachs, and fans. New practice, training, and competition venues would boost the image and everyday experience of the Athletics department and the University. Tradition The long traditions on campus can be honored and amplified by reinforcing the existing work ethic and school pride with the renovation of historic facilites like
Beaver Stadium and constructing new facilities like the natatorium. These new structures would integrate into the existing campus design language and highlight the transporation Loop. Open Space The placement of new or expanded facilites in the Master plan has a distrbutive synergy with the alignment of open space and existing landscape types. Landscape types are expanded into the athletics District hrough the expanded use of streatscapes, open plaza areas, and connective paths. Streetscapes help to further define The Loop and work to bridge the divide between campus and the athletics district. the plazas work to bring campus character, demonstrated elswere on campus, into the new public spaces at the front doors of these athletic facilites and connect fibers of campus. Opensapces will work with the existing landscade vocabulary of campus, promoting pedestrian corridors, plazas, and streetscapes, replicating the feeel of campus into the district. Tailgating The life blood of the football team is the fans and their pre-game tailgates. The gameday experience could be further enhnaced by organzing vehicles and integrating more openspace for tents and people to enjoy the day without the inerferenace of vehciles.
