CUBE CONNECT blends public and private spaces while fostering community between public and private spaces. At ground level, a public park welcomes interaction and visually connects to exclusive resident areas, offering openness while preserving privacy. Within the building, communal spaces on alternating floors create opportunities for residents to form micro-communities, encouraging interaction among smaller unit clusters. A central pathway cuts through the site, providing easy access to a nearby bus stop and integrating the building into the neighborhood’s flow. Other spaces include a café, gym, and a multipurpose room, which provides spaces for engagement, serving both residents and the community.

Second Floor Plan
Proactive Outdoors is a youth center that aims to create a modern way of learning for students in the pasadena area. With high crime in the area we wanted to create a safe space for students from nearby schools to come and enjoy learning in an outside envioronment and enjoy spaces for activities. During the design process we prioritized the idea of movement shown mainly on the ground floor where there is access on any side of the Youth Center aiming to create a welcoming and safe environment.

The property is a subdivision of a two+ acre site. The grade elevation is 16 feet below the road level, on the West and North sides. North and East elevations have mountain views, with no direct sun on the north side; morning and early afternoon sun on the east side. Sunscreens will assist with direct sunlight. Solar panels are located on the roof with back-up power located in the garage. All HVAC equipment will be energy efficient rated.
A cistern is incorporated at the rear of the property to catch and store rainwater and grey water from the house, be recycled for irrigation. The property is located a narrow, private road and to avoid street parking the driveway is widened at the front for tem porary parking and the driveway length will allow for stacking when necessary.
To avoid disturbance of the natural quality and to conserve lot coverage the driveway is sloped to the garage located below the family room. The house is designed with three floors, the garage, laundry, lift and fitness room are located on the lower level.
