Switzerland to host Blockchain Hackathon in June to find real-life applications in the Blockchain In accordance with the announcement made on February 27, Switzerland will soon host a Swiss Blockchain Hackathon this year in an effort to help various firms and industries discover real-life applications of blockchain technology.

Reportedly, this is a three-day event which is planned by six prominent blockchain and IT firms in Switzerland namely Trust Square, Bitcoin Association Switzerland, CV Labs, Crypto Valley Association (CVA), Swiss Blockchain Federation and swissICT. The event is supposed to take place from June 21 to June 23, in the year 2019.


As per the reports, the blockchain industries organized this hackathon in order to simplify the use of blockchain technology in numerous industrial applications and also to find the real applications and business models of blockchain tech. This hightech event will probably attract nearly 200 business players from various countries and from Switzerland as well. Many prominent tech giants and heavyweight finance companies are joining with this hackathon event which includes Amazon Web Services, Accenture, PwC, Agroscope, Blockfactory, Six Digital Exchange, Cardano, and many others. Switzerland is already a recognized country as it has established itself as a blockchain and cryptocurrency-friendly country, it has a global center for virtual currencies which is called the “Crypto Valley” present in the canton of Zug. As per the annual report of State of European Tech from tech investment firm Atomico, the “Crypto Valley” of Switzerland was considered as one of the fastest-growing tech community in Europe. According to the reports, Daniel Haudenschild-the president of the CVA, recently stated that we need to amend our laws so it requires more communication with the lawmakers and the regulators. We should put efforts into making Switzerland an open and easy place for the companies who want to invest in blockchain projects.”


Earlier in the month of December, Ueli Maurer-the Swiss Minister of Finance specified that rather than a particular blockchain or cryptocurrency legal framework, Switzerland should alter the present rules to agree to the new technology and its business application. Reportedly, the government anticipates to plannning changes to six laws, which includes the civil code and bankruptcy law, this year.
