We have chosen a beautiful city of Lviv to be the scene of our wedding. For many reasons, really… partially because it’s were we spent a lot of time during our business trips as emotionally unattached colleagues, partially because it’s were Polina’s parents live, but mostly because it’s a great place to have a bit of a party and a bit of a tradition. So…the venue. Not to spill too much of the beans, the wedding will take place in the small hotel right in the city. Depending on where you choose to stay, we will pick you up and deliver to the hotel in time for the party. Climat. Lviv's climate is humid continental with mild winters and warm summers. In general, over the past 100-120 years, temperatures in Lviv has a tendency to increase.
Floors. Ukrainians consider the floor on the ground to be the first floor and so one. Money. You’ll have no problem finding currency exchange points. According to the new law you need to show your passport or ID to exchange money. (ignore it if you are Ukrainian, we are pretty sure you’ll find your way around without help) We are thinking about your comfort, so we have pre-approved few hotels to fit you all. But be sure NOT to do it two hours before your flight, as during this time of year they hold a big jazz festival in Lviv with many people coming, so the reality is that you might have to sleep on the street… All the rooms in the hotel where we will be having a wedding are already booked. As the hotel is very small, we will keep the rooms for the best men and bride’s maids, as well as close family. Safety. Lviv is, in fact, a rather safe place. As in most cities, flashing large amounts of cash can cause trouble. Wallets are known to disappear in public transport crowds, so guard your pockets at all times. Being very drunk and/or loud on the street is always a good way to attract unwanted attention, especially from the new police.
Shops opening hours. Most shops and supermarkets are opened from 9:00 to 20:00. Also, in the city there are enough 24/7 grocery stores.
Alcohol. In Lviv, to drink light alcoholic beverages you must be at least 18 years old, strong alcoholic beverages - 21 years old. On the streets and in public places it is forbidden to drink alcohol, otherwise you risk to have problems with the police. You can buy alcohol and tobacco in shops only from 10.00 (10 am) to 22.00 (10pm) but in bars you can drink any time.
