Flipping Books Using ISSUU to create an electronic book with turning pages Books that you create using ISSUU are available to anyone so do not use any confidential or sensitive information.

Before you begin

Before you begin, you should create an account at www.issuu.com. Your text and pictures should be organised in a word processor in the way you want it to appear.

Convert to pdf This has now to be turned into a pdf. If your word processor doesn’t let you do this, you can use an online Word-to-pdf service. PDF Online and PrimoPDF work well but there are many others available. In PDF Online, select Doc2PDF. Browse to the file you want to convert. Choose a name for the converted file and enter your email address. Your pdf will be emailed to you.

issuu.com Now go to ISSUU.com

Select Upload Document.

Browse to your pdf.

Enter your email address.

A large file may take some time to process.

Various pieces of information about your file have to be entered. This information allows others to search for it.

Embedding your book Remember that anything that goes on ISSUU becomes public property.

When the book has been created it will appear on your ‘shelf’ in ISSUU.

Select the book and then select Edit on the menu bar.

Select Embed on the menu bar and then Customise & embed wizard. This screen lets you make changes to your book. You can leave everything as it is if you want.

Copy the code from the Embed code box.

The code can be embedded into a website or blog. This guide will deal with embedding into a blog

Go to your blog and add a new post. Select the HTML tab and paste the code in.

In your blog the post should look like this –

Clicking on the image will let you view the book full screen.

Some blog themes will not show the book cover but only a link. When you click on the link in the post, a new window will open with the book displayed.

To improve the look of the post, you might prefer to insert a picture (probably the book cover) and link from there. To do this, you insert your picture into the post and create a hyperlink from the picture to the book on ISSUU First, go to your ISSUU shelf. Open the book. Copy the url.

Select the picture on your blog. Select CTRL+K which allows you to enter a hyperlink. Paste the copied url.

Now clicking on the picture will open the book. This looks much better.
