Andy Gaunt

Andy Gaunt MA BSc CertHE (Archaeology). With a lifelong passion for history and archaeology I work as a professional archaeologist in Nottinghamshire. I specialise in archaeological fieldwork including excavation, measured archaeological surveying, archaeological geophysics, fieldwalking and other techniques. I am also an expert in Geographic Information systems (GIS), and have undertaken a number of 3D visualisations based on data collected in the field. I am especially interested in sites relating to the medieval period. I have a fascination with medieval history and archaeology, this has resulted in a great deal of interest in medieval Sherwood Forest and life in medieval Nottinghamshire. I give talks on medieval Sherwood Forest & outlaws and villains, and I am working on producing a map of Medieval Sherwood Forest in GIS, and also a 3D reconstruction of the medieval landscape of parts of the forest.
