people When Andy asked me to write a few words on his book People I knew I was in for a treat. This talented humanist, whose photographs show a real empathy with his subjects has not disappointed. The work is not glib or cynical, a trait often found in some photographers these days. This work is classic in its delivery, showing all kinds of emotions by a photographer who really cares about humanity and how photography can draw us into other peoples lives. People follows in the tradition of the now famous exhibition curated by Edward Steichen at MOMA in New York in 1955; “The Family Of Man We, as fellow human beings, are drawn to the lives of others; we are fascinated by seeing how others live, work and play With People, Andy has delivered a really interesting peep-hole into worlds that many of us may never see in real life. Picture magazines and colour supplements used to do this on a weekly basis but sadly no longer carry the gravitas they used to. Documentary photographers however are still out there, working and doing what they do do best - telling stories through pictures. People is a book of stories, beautifully translated, by a very talented young man. Bill Jackson Photographer
