GLOBE AIR CARGO Bulgaria

Swiss WorldCargo has recently re-established its partnership with ECS Group GSSA, Globe Air Cargo Bulgaria

Globe Air Cargo Bulgaria hires additional team member, dedicated to work with Swiss WorldCargo

Common goal: Strong focus and expertise on high-value cargo into and out of Bulgaria

Since June 1st, Swiss WorldCargo has resumed its partnership with Globe Air Cargo Bulgaria. The long-standing local partnership dates back to 2008, and has now been re-awaken to work closely again. In view of a closer collaboration, Globe Air Cargo hired an additional team member, who will be dedicated to work closely with Swiss WorldCargo.

The two companies have rekindled their dormant, 16-year contract which sees the leading GSSA in Bulgaria carry out sales, booking, messaging, operational supervision, post-flight activities and claims, on behalf of Switzerland’s prestigious national air cargo carrier.

“Globe Air Cargo was proud to represent Swiss WorldCargo when it first began cargo operations in Bulgaria back in 2008, and we are more than delighted to welcome them back after a six-year gap. In fact, our joint contract was never terminated during all this time, which goes to show the value that trust and reliability create in a partnership,” says GLOBE AIR CARGO Bulgaria Managing Director, Tania Mlechenkova. “It was clear from our initial face-to-face tender meeting, 16 years ago, that our two companies share a strong common interest in providing exceptional customer service through longterm stability and expertise. That is the credo we follow.”

Swiss WorldCargo operates an A220 service between Zurich and Sofia, offering Bulgarian freight forwarders attractive connections across Europe, North and South America, and the Far East. The carrier has specialised in high-value, care-intensive and temperaturesensitive cargo such as Valuables, Perishables, and Pharmaceuticals, alongside its X-Presso transportation solution.

“Special cargo shipments require particular care and professional attention. Globe Air Cargo has the expertise to handle these needs efficiently and precisely. To further strengthen our capabilities, we’ve recently added a fully-trained team member, ensuring even more dedicated support for Swiss WorldCargo.” Tania Mlechenkova states.

“Our expertise in transporting shipments that require extra care and the high quality of our services is reflected in the high quality work of the partners we collaborate with. This is also the case for Globe Air Cargo, who allows us to keep providing our cargo customers in Bulgaria with the extra care treatment they are accustomed to. We are glad to re-establish our partnership with Globe Air Cargo for a continuous and consistent service to our customers.” says Gieri Hinnen, Head of Cargo Global Sales at Swiss WorldCargo.

Airbus and European partners demonstrate collaboration between helicopters and unmanned systems

Marignane, 10 October 2024 - Airbus Helicopters and its partners have conducted a full scale demonstration of a manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) system developed as part of a project funded by the European Union and code-named MUSHER. The demonstration took place in France and Italy from 30 September to 9 October and involved multiple manned helicopters and unmanned systems connected to a single MUM-T network.

“Operating helicopters and unmanned aerial systems in concert provides valuable additional mission capabilities such as increased situational awareness with UAS sharing video in real time for improved decision-making, all while preserving critical assets and resources,” said Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters. “The success of the MUSHER demonstration is a major step forward for our ambition at Airbus which is to field MUM-T capabilities by bringing European industrial know-how together for the benefit of military and civil customers,” he added.

The experiment was led by Airbus, which deployed the H130 FlightLab as a manned platform and the VSR700 unmanned aerial system (UAS) on a DGA test range. Meanwhile, Leonardo performed the demonstration with a helicopter and an optionally piloted vehicle.

Thales, coordinator of the MUSHER project, provided a supervision station and a mission debriefing station. Space Applications Services was in charge of the mission preparation station. Indra led simulation activities in preparation for the demonstration, while ONERA provided studies on crew workload.

The MUSHER demonstration consisted of various scenarios involving the different aircraft flying simultaneously in France and in Italy.

The missions were based on concepts of operations defined by the ministries of defense of France, Italy and Spain. One scenario, for example, showcased UAS and manned helicopters for an anti-piracy mission. The UAS was initially conducting a surveillance mission. Once it spotted suspicious activity on a boat, the manned helicopter joined the scene and took full control of the UAS in preparation for an intervention.

The in-flight testing aimed at demonstrating levels of interoperability (LOI) 2 to 4, from directreceipt of UAS data by the manned helicopters and the ground station, to the control and monitoring of the UAS from the helicopters. The demonstration also served to prove that manned helicopters and UAS from different companies and different countries, operating in distant areas, could be integrated within a single MUM-T system.

MUSHER is a project launched in the frame of the European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP) launched by the European Commission in December 2021. The project aims at developing a generic European MUM-T system that can operate robustly in multiple environments (civil, military or mixed), whilst reducing the crew’s workload and delivering maximum capacity in operation.

MUNICH AIRPORT

Munich Airport: A gateway to excellence in global connectivity

Munich Airport, one of Europe’s busiest and most efficient aviation hubs, continues to evolve and expand to meet the demands of modern air travel. The airport serves as a critical gateway not only to Germany but also to the broader European and global markets. As travel patterns shift and passenger numbers rise, the introduction of the New Pier at Terminal 1 project marks a significant milestone in the airport’s ongoing development.

The new pier at Terminal 1 of Munich Airport is progressing rapidly: after the exterior façade was completed last year, the interior fit-out is currently making great strides. Construction is scheduled for completion at the end of 2025. Extensive testing will still be carried out before commissioning. The new pier will bundle the non-Schengen traffic of Terminal 1 and will become the new home for American Airlines, British Airways, Delta Airlines, Emirates, Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways, among others.

“The expansion ensures that a high quality of stay and service will be offered in all handling areas in the future. With the attractive new lounge areas, we will then bring about a leap forward in quality in Terminal 1, which will open up long-term development

prospects at our airport for the airlines that operate here and will thus guarantee the competitive edge and future viability of Munich’s premium hub,” says Jost Lammers, Chief Executive Officer of Munich Airport.

Approximately 360 meters long, the pier extends into the western apron and covers around 95,000 square meters, including an area in the current Module B Arrivals area that will serve as the central entrance to and exit from the new building in the future. Almost all orders for construction work have already been placed. Munich Airport is investing a total of EUR 665 million in the project.

The building has six stories. Three of them are intended for passengers and check-in: Level 03 with bus gates, immigration controls and baggage reclaim, Level 04 with a marketplace and departure gates, and Level 05 with the arrivals area as well as passport control and security checkpoints. Up to twelve smaller aircraft or six wide-body aircraft can be positioned simultaneously at the Terminal 1 extension. Access to the pier is via a centralized security checkpoint area. The ten checkpoints are equipped with state-of-the-art CT technology, which is already in use in Terminal 1 Module D and Terminal 2.

The building is equipped with energy-efficient facilities and system technology. In addition to the ecologically high-quality central energy generation at the airport campus, this also includes the air treatment systems, which are equipped with highly efficient heat recovery systems.

“For passengers, the increased amount of space in combination with the technological innovation brings a significant enhancement in efficiency, service and comfort. Terminal 1, now 30 years old, will be stateof-the-art in every respect and optimally equipped for future challenges in the non-Schengen area,” says Nathalie Leroy, Chief Financial Officer and Director of Infrastructure at Munich Airport.

The improved quality of stay will also be visible in the commercial areas of the Terminal 1 extension. Retreats with a high level of comfort, individual offerings such as children’s playgrounds and exhibition areas make the pier a feel-good place. The theme of “Bavarian Soul” runs through the premises like a common thread and presents the airport as Bavaria’s calling card. The centrepiece will be a central marketplace for all non-Schengen traffic. A large walk-through duty-free area and numerous catering and retail units with a wide range of products will be created on a total area of 5,200 square meters.

“With the ‘Bavarian Soul’ concept, we are establishing a new passenger experience in the future pier. We are creating a pleasant atmosphere for travellers with premium brands, a friendly ambiance and timeless interior design – everything that Munich Airport stands for,” says Jan-Henrik Andersson, Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Security Officer at Munich Airport.

As Munich Airport embarks on the New Pier of Terminal 1 project, it reaffirms its commitment to excellence in air travel. This initiative is a testament to the airport’s forward-thinking approach, ensuring that it remains a premier destination for travellers worldwide. With its focus on capacity, passenger experience, sustainability, and economic growth, the New Pier is poised to elevate Munich Airport’s status as a leader in the global aviation landscape. As we look to the future, the enhancements brought about by this project will undoubtedly shape the way we travel and connect across the globe.

The new, compact non-Schengen pier T1E will make Terminal 1 at Munich Airport an attractive hub for flight connections around the world. The over 340-meter-long transparent pier provides space for six new wide-body aircraft or 12 smaller aircraft positions and, thanks to its flexible structure, the new passenger gate can easily adapt to changing requirements and increasing passenger numbers in the future.

Its reduced and deliberately restrained design is aligned with the existing airport buildings, translating their central elements into a modern design language. The glass structure extends homogeneously from the existing terminal and rests on a recessed base above the runway. The glazed exterior facade, especially at nightfall, appears immaterial and weightless, offering fascinating glimpses into the building’s interior to all arriving and departing passengers, even from the plane.

Generous retail and dining areas, lounges, and light-flooded waiting zones inside the new pier based on the design by slapa oberholz pszczulny | sop architekten, JSK Pszczulny & Rutz Architekci, SSF Ingenieure, and Schüßler-Plan – will make traveling at Munich Airport a special experience.

Princess Juliana International Airport, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Traffic and Telecommunication, has announced the upcoming launch of an automated border control system.

As part of an ongoing reconstruction project that includes the fully renovated airport, this system will modernize the way passengers enter and exit St. Maarten, ensuring enhanced security, efficiency and a seamless travel experience.

The project involves the introduction of a digital entry form, besides biometric integration in the future. Starting October 8, travellers will be required to visit www.entry.sx and complete their document ahead of travel, as the form should be completed prior to checking in for a flight.

In future, this system will allow passengers to use their biometrics to clear through border control. Later phases of the project will introduce Advance Passenger Information Systems and Passenger Name Record Systems to improve traveller risk management performed by the Immigration and Border Protection Service. This solution will meet all General Data Protection Regulation standards and data privacy protection for travellers and will eventually be extended to general aviation visitors.

Minister of Justice Lyndon Lewis said, “This project aims to streamline the passenger registration process by introducing the necessary digital equipment, along with a user-friendly website where individuals entering the country can conveniently register their information beforehand and be processed by Immigration. By providing this digital platform, the Ministry of Justice will have the necessary tools to carry out their vital duties more efficiently, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our nation.”

It launched on October 8, 2024, the website will serve as a critical resource for passengers entering St. Maarten. Additionally, the Arrival Hall opened on October 15, 2024.

Princess Juliana International Airport officially opened its state-of the art terminal building. On October 7, 2024, Constructor Ballast Nedam International Projects officially handed over the key to the newly completed arrival hall and baggage reclaim area. This marks a major step forward in the airport’s ongoing redevelopment.

Following the handover, the airport’s staff will begin the final preparations for the opening, which includes thorough cleaning and setting up services such as customs, immigration, and baggage handling. These efforts are essential to ensure the brand-new arrival area is fully operational and ready to welcome all arriving passengers to the island of St. Maarten.

The new arrival opened its doors to passengers on October 15, 2024. This momentous occasion

signified the end of the use of the Temporary Arrival Facility tent, which has served the airport during the construction period.

Princess Juliana International Airport would like to express its sincere gratitude to Ballast Nedam International Projects for their dedication and hard work on this project. The airport also extends its thanks to all stakeholders and the community of St. Maarten for their patience and support throughout this phase of redevelopment.

To celebrate this remarkable achievement, the airport will host an official reopening ceremony for the terminal building on November 14, 2024. Details of this event will be shared in the coming weeks.

The new Arrival Hall features:

Improved baggage handling systems for faster and more efficient luggage retrieval.

Streamlined immigration and customs processes designed to minimize waiting times.

Enhanced passenger facilities aimed at providing a more comfortable and seamless arrival experience. Prioritising a Seamless Travel Experience

Throughout the construction phases, PJIAE has ensured that ongoing airport operations remain unaffected. Travelers continue to enjoy a smooth and hassle-free experience, with uninterrupted services.

Commercial Director Michiel Parent states: “We’re almost there now. In less than a month from now, all passengers can enjoy the new arrival hall. I’m incredibly proud of what our team has accomplished. We’re now looking forward to our grand opening in November this year.”

This pivotal hub not only connects global travellers to the wonders of Sint Maarten but also to its neighbouring jewels. They remain committed to providing exceptional service, ensuring paramount safety, and nurturing the regional prosperity that marks their shared success story.

RESTORING A PRINCESS

1.4 million passengers may be considered a drop in the bucket to major hubs and vacation destinations worldwide. However, to Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIAE) in St. Maarten, it’s a welcome number that has sparked excitement in the country’s tourist-driven economy. The island has become a hotspot for cruisers and weekenders and a plane spotter’s paradise thanks to Maho Beach’s proximity to Runway 10. With the completion of its new Departure Hall, the airport has fulfilled its promise to deliver a passenger experience unlike any other in the Caribbean, featuring high-end services tailored to meet growing passenger needs and desires in their experience.

Materna IPS played a pivotal role in the transformation process of Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM): installing signature Self-Bag Drop (SBD) systems has enabled more open space while reducing queuing and ensuring a safe, secure, and hassle-free journey throughout the sophisticated, state-of-the-art facility. This new design for the airport has been carefully thought through with the SXM Management and Design Team.

While SBD is not a new concept in North American airports, implementing SBDs in a common use environment is new. “Common Use Self-Service, or CUSS, is the norm in airports across Europe and Asia, but we never understood why North America was the exception to the concept,” says Chief Operating Officer Daniel Dunn, “especially in airports where real estate is limited and passengers are demanding more amenities, more services, more solutions to better their experience. CUSS is the answer to that demand.”

Every square meter of space matters inside SXM, and this highly adaptive technology allows multiple airlines to share its use while still providing

opportunities for customized functionality in line with each airline’s unique requirements including, a multitude of languages, various orders of instruction, and identity confirmation, all encompassed in each Airlines own identity. Currently, Air France/KLM, American Airlines, Delta, and Spirit passengers can take advantage of the Common Use SBD’s, with an additional five airlines joining by the end Q4 2024.

“Materna IPS is honored and proud to partner on such a critical operation with PJIAE and its airline partners. It’s been remarkable to witness this transformation making SXM the most innovative airport in the Caribbean,” said Gary McDonald, President of Materna IPS Americas. “We look forward to continued innovation at this crucial tourist hub and you do not need to ask me twice to take any potential customers to this stunning Island!”

The time it now takes to drop a bag is so short passengers can enjoy even more time at Airside enjoying the fabulous SXM facilities. SBDs are starting to transform and enhance the passenger experience all over North America, with the added benefit of also improving baggage hygiene in the baggage handling system.

The integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) categorizes distinct pieces of baggage based on previously learned shapes. This essential information influences the decision-making process regarding the suitability for checking or conveyance of a specific item. If it is determined that an item cannot be conveyed, passengers are instructed to use a special luggage tub – something that commonly occurs with backpacks characterized by loose straps recognized by Materna IPS’s advanced software.

The SBDs are also equipped with a security instruction system. If a passenger attempts to

interrupt the SBD whilst it is in progress, then an alarm will sound, and alert local personal.

Materna IPS extends its gratitude to all stakeholders and partners for their support throughout this exciting innovation implementation. Committed to this partnership with PJIAE, Materna IPS will continue providing a world-class travel experience and contributing to the economic development of St. Maarten. From the Airports perspective, “Any modification that aids in optimizing the transit of passengers and bags is certainly a victory for us,” states the airport’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Brian Mingo. “Furthermore, we take pride in acknowledging that advancements facilitated by Materna IPS have streamlined passenger experiences henceforth ensuring a seamless journey for our travelers.”

As for what’s next for Materna IPS following the golive? “We are in this for the long haul,” says McDonald. “Our teams are actively discussing diagnostics, maintenance schedules, employee training, and everything the team on the ground needs to ensure the passenger can utilize the technology without issue. We will bring five more Airlines live this year and I have no problem asking for staff members to work in SXM, who would not mind a trip down to a beautiful island with sunny beaches and breathtaking views- of airplanes, of course!”

SACRAMENTO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Elevates passenger experience with strategic initiatives

The SMF’s enhancements reflect Sacramento’s growth and aspirations, connecting the city with the global community.

Sacramento International Airport (SMF) stands as a crucial gateway not just for California’s capital region, but for travellers from around the globe. As the airport continues to evolve, it reflects the growth and aspirations of Sacramento itself, transforming into a hub that connects the city’s rich history, diverse culture, and economic potential with the wider world.

In an era where environmental consciousness is paramount, Sacramento International Airport has taken commendable steps toward sustainability. Initiatives such as solar energy installations and water conservation efforts reflect a commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. These measures not only help the environment but also position SMF as a forward-thinking airport that prioritizes sustainable practices – a message that resonates with both travellers and residents.

Sacramento International Airport (SMF) has broken ground on a new 5,500 space parking garage east of Terminal B, on the site of the recently closed Hourly Lot. The state-of-the-art parking garage will include a passenger guidance system for parking, reserved parking, electric vehicle charging and desirable close-in, covered parking.

“Today’s groundbreaking is another important step to realize the SMForward vision and deliver tangible improvements for our community,” said Congresswoman Doris Matsui. “This new parking

garage will greatly expand capacity while going above and beyond to make the facility convenient and technologically cutting edge.

I’m proud to champion the work of our airport – and we are only continuing to push the envelope to keep it the national gold standard for years to come.”

The Terminal B parking garage is a key component of SMF’s ambitious $1.3 billion SMForward capital program, aimed at upgrading the Airport’s infrastructure to meet the demands of increasing passenger traffic while enhancing customer comfort and accessibility. The project is expected to be completed in Fall 2026.

“Increasing close-in garage parking capacity is the number one opportunity we have to improve the guest experience at SMF,” said Cindy Nichol, Director, Sacramento County Department of Airports. “With passenger numbers projected to surpass 13 million this year, Sacramento International Airport is committed to meeting our travellers’ needs into the future.”

Economic Impact and Job Creation

The new parking garage will not only enhance the traveller experience at SMF, but it is also an investment in the future of the greater Sacramento region. The project will support approximately 1,000 jobs during its construction, contributing to economic growth. It will also utilize labor under a Community Workforce Training Agreement (CWTA) creating opportunities for the local workforce, supporting small businesses, and ensuring the economic benefits extend throughout the community.

The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors approved the $229 million design-build contract in July. Locally owned Otto Construction, which built the Terminal A parking garage, will be the contractor. The project has a total budget of $390 million and is a significant milestone as the first design-build project in Sacramento County’s history. The project team includes International Parking Design, in collaboration with Otto Construction and McClone. We believe this garage will serve as a stunning gateway for travellers arriving in Sacramento County.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Sacramento International Airport Terminal B Parking Garage features 5,530 parking spaces across six levels. The entry and exit plazas are located on the south side of the garage and serve as the primary external access points for vehicles. Dedicated circular entry/exit helix ramps on the garage’s southern side facilitate internal vertical vehicular circulation.

The new structure is seamlessly connected to an existing stair and elevator tower for pedestrian circulation, providing access to a bridge leading to Terminal B on the fifth level of the garage. A dedicated pedestrian walkway runs from south to north along the east side of the garage on every level, improving wayfinding and enhancing the user experience.

The east façade features a custom perforated metal panel design that reflects the landscape of Sacramento County, thoughtfully created to minimize long-term maintenance. The new stair and elevator towers share similar architectural elements with Terminal B, such as curved roofs, tilted curtain walls, and complementary cladding materials, ensuring a cohesive design.

4. Could you describe a recent successful collaboration or project with Northrop Grumman that showcases Spirit Electronics’ capabilities and contributions?

ASIC Time-to-Market and Legacy Support: Spirit’s Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) programs provide design, foundry, test and assembly support for custom ICs. Our customers have worked with Spirit to create ASICs in recent years to streamline their time to market. Spirit has also added foundry services for ASIC manufacturing at Texas Instruments fabs. Not only does this offer highquality foundry access, but we support technology nodes in the 65-nm range and higher essential to defense applications and high power. Application specific designs will dictate foundry selection; Spirit remains committed to US Fabs specifically. Our customers choose our ASIC solutions to continue manufacturing support for legacy technology as well as new designs.

Distribution and Logistics:

As an authorized distribution channel, Spirit provides the full range of components on a customer’s bill of materials. We tailor our distribution channels to provide logistics solutions (3PL) to many of our aerospace customers. We have collaborated with customers on supplier-managed inventory programs (SMI), storage & binning management, and forecasting assembly needs in advance to have inventory on hand and to secure pricing amid market challenges. Spirit has adapted to the shift away from standard Long-Term Agreements to more logistical 3PL and SMI programs to meet the changing needs of our suppliers and customer demands.

MIL-STD-883 Testing:

Spirit supports Mil-Std-883 screening and Source Control Drawings (SCD) to qualify military programs that come through our doors. Our diverse testing expertise sets us apart from other test labs and providers in the industry, as we create the test software and hardware for each customer-specific component and remain the test leader in the complex devices of FPGA, HyperFlash, DDR and microprocessors. Our customers, especially in New Space and satellite applications, often require chip performance above and beyond the data sheet

specifications. Spirit designs a test program to meet the exact performance thresholds required by the end application to expedite the qualification process while ensuring performance for the customer’s end product.

Radiation Testing:

Radiation testing is a critical step for satellite, low-earth orbit, space, and other harsh environment missions. Testing exposes components to a controlled radiation source and then tests them for performance. Radiation testing ranges from radiation hardened to tolerant qualifications to guarantee a component’s performance under radiative stress depending on the expected exposure in the mission application. Spirit procures a range of high-reliability components from authorized manufacturers, prepares sample components, manages radiation beam time, and tests the components to either MILSTD performance for defense-grade qualification or to customer-specified performance for unique applications and missions. Radiation beam time is a supply chain constraint in the industry, with radiation sources being expensive to stand up, maintain, and operate. Spirit coordinates within the supply chain and with the Missile Defense Agency to access radiation sources for testing programs and meet demanding production schedules for our customers.

5. How does Spirit Electronics ensure the quality and reliability of the electronic components it supplies, especially for mission-critical applications in aerospace and defense?

Spirit Electronics does in-house testing to qualify our components. We own the lot until our customer receives it, taking full ownership of failures until the product is in their hands. Customers know that the parts they’re receiving are 100% problem-free.

The challenge of microelectronics counterfeit prevention is to detect fake OEM parts, but what if the part is an actual OEM’s part and yet still counterfeit? Not only is it possible, it’s common. The most counterfeited product in the global microelectronics market is not always a fake. Very often it is a true OEM original but has been altered and is not suitable for the full requirements of system performance and use in a critical military system.

Makers and distributors must manage their supply chain very tightly, perform in-house testing to qualify components, and assume full ownership of failures.

Control is the key: as the OEM guarantees supply chain and component integrity, OEMaccredited and OEM-authorized testing and screening assures that components are suited for their performance, that they are not altered, and that they are undamaged by improper testing and handling of the components post-sale by labs that may not have the proper diagnostic resources to even power up the devices as required. Testing the device according to the data sheet, verifying the operational parameters and function at speed or temperature, and the explicit description of the part is paramount. Short of all of these, the end product is at risk, with no recourse and no insurance. Clearly, that’s a risk not worth taking, especially when lives are on the line.

Spirit secures the supply chain for parts and services with our quality controls and procedures, counterfeit prevention program, cybersecurity monitoring, and warehouse inspections and controls, including ESD class 0 certification. Spirit maintains close relationships with OEMs through our authorized distribution channels. Our onsite inspection, testing, inventory control, and environmental protections ensure a secure supply chain and secure product care, custody and control. Our team supports our counterfeit prevention and cybersecurity programs across all roles and operations to protect our supply chain. We remain vigilant and proactive in implementing new industry protections and requirements to stay ahead of counterfeit and cyber risks.

6. What are some key challenges that Spirit Electronics faces in the current market environment, and how does the company address these challenges to maintain competitiveness?

The post-pandemic market has been challenged to meet demand for high-reliability production. Spirit has responded to the market by identifying supply chain choke points and rapidly expanding services to increase capacity and meet customer demands and timelines.

With a market shift to onshore semiconductor production, Spirit provides a made-in-theUSA supply partner for authorized components, testing, and assembly, managing export control and counterfeit prevention requirements to include a wider range of OEMs in a secured supply chain. We constantly improve our business practices and operations to meet requirements like cybersecurity. We plan to continue service and capacity expansion to meet the market demand. Our team is solution-focused, looking for innovative ways to meet customer needs, whether the challenge is allocation limits on supply or production fluctuations.

7. How does Spirit Electronics approach sustainability and environmental responsibility in its operations and product offerings?

Amid foundry consolidation, Spirit Electronics now offers foundry services supporting U.S.based manufacturing for analog and mixedsignal integrated circuits. Spirit’s foundry

access includes 45- to 130-nm technology nodes in 300 mm wafer fabs at Texas Instruments and other foundries. With corporate consolidation and long-lead-time pressures demanding greater capacity from existing fabs, Spirit’s foundry services open an accessible supply chain channel for ASIC manufacturing.

“Supply chain demands have remained high despite limited manufacturing capacity at the major American fabs,” explains Spirit CEO Marti McCurdy. “Our foundry services are an opportunity to manufacture ASICs using advanced processes in quality fabs to add agility to the supply chain and improve time-to-market.”

“Where most ASIC companies complete the design and outsource the rest, Spirit’s foundry services manage the manufacturing, packaging and assembly all under one American supplier,”

McCurdy says. “Adding foundry services allows us to vertically integrate all steps of the ASIC production process under one U.S.-based supplier,” McCurdy concludes. “This is a true end-to-end manufacturing service that delivers applicationready ASICs.”
