FEMINATION By Aneta Chabibulina

FEMINATION Aneta Chabibulina Paintings interpreted by Aneta Chabibulina & Pierluigi Orati 2010-2013 ITALY-LITHUANIA-DENMARK

ABOUT THE ARTIST Aneta Chabibulina is rooted in the wild and pure Baltic land but she is a cosmopolitan, a citizen of this earth. The influence of Baltic places, at the same time terrestrial and fabulous, gloomy and relaxing, cold and mild, is clearly present in her art. Born in 1983, under a certain Soviet influence, thus not dried up from this but rather inspired from the historical changes of these times. There is a strong imprinting in her works of art and a certain train of thoughts linking her paintings. The Eros is constantly present at different degrees and the feminine aspect is central, not forgetting the masculine counterpart, present even when absent. The contrast between strong colours and soft atmospheres and between soft colours and strong topics is also a characteristic of Aneta’s works of art, like a chemical formula that from time to time gives a different powerful reaction to eyes and soul of the public. Surely slightly influenced by some recognized past genius in the field of art, Aneta’s paintings are original and striking.

FEMINATION

SCRAMBLED FEMININITY Oil on canvas 50X70X1.8 2010 ITALY Scrambled Femininity presents a search for a balance between the archaic instincts of a feminine reproduction and a masculine fight for survival. The rules of the modern society are containing femininity and asking for masculine, strong behavior and efforts in order to achieve respect and targets. The pain aroused by the conflict between external and inner demands lead the artist Aneta Chabibulina to be consolated by Frida Khalo’s art. The lost expression in the subject’s eyes and the bumping veins, the passive exterior and the inner turmoil are expressing the moment before reaction. What should be the action: obeying to the boundaries of societal expectations or listening to your inner self?

FEMALE WARRIOR Oil on canvas 40X50X1.8 2010 ITALY Probably one the most explicit messages expressed in the art of Aneta Chabibulina, Female Warrior is an anthem to the role of the modern woman in the society. The painting aspires from the famous Liberty Leading the People created by Eugène Delacroix. The subject here goes forward leaving the past behind. In her hand she carries a portfolio as a weapon and raises a red dress as a flag of femininity, she hides herself behind the helmet to protect her inner self. It presents the societal expectations to woman who supposed to be at the same time sexy and strong, feminine but not weak, naked but ready to wear her dress for the elegant party, mother and business woman.

FERTILIZATION Oil on canvas 40X80X1.8 2010 ITALY This image might be considered one of the “strongest” paintings created by Aneta Chabibulina. The message is also striking. Hung dimension between Tanathos and Eros. In the upper part of the painting is a clear light, life, sex organ, well visible and ready to procreate and give birth, almost exposed as a flower, ready for its vital photosynthesis. Some light is passing the ground and reaches the face of the subject, is it a sign of hope? There is for sure life also in the lower part of the painting but is less recognizable, it is more “protected” and isolated, is darker and frozen probably waiting for the warm season. The gloomy, scary, almost hibernated hair, digging deep in the ground as roots of a tree, desperately searching for some nutrition from the center of the earth, rich of warmth. A contrast between two seasons and two dimension in one image. Is this symbolizing a hung dimension? Fight between life and death? What lives underground is buried or is alive like in the upper part?

MATRIOSHKAS Oil on canvas 50X70X1.8 2010/2011 ITALY In Matrioshkas it is expressed the social habit of twisting game between demand and supply of bodies and appearance. While Botticelli’s Venus was born from the seashell, this modern Eastern European “capitalists” come out from the old Matrioshka. The money machine accepts payments only if made with Platinum credit cards, as to lubricate the fake love. Instead of a vagina where the life comes from there is a card reader that gives birth to temporary wealth. In a plastic positioning on the image is also a metaphoric space of the women, choosing to offer themselves in the Western model market of the young flesh.

MIRROR’S SEDUCEMENT Oil on canvas 70X100X1.8 2011 LITHUANIA This painting of Aneta Chabibulina brings us directly in a fairy tale world where there are not only honeyed, suave atmospheres but also clouds, strong colors, witches, sex, nudity and spooky surreal landscapes. The object is framed in a magic mirror as to underline and remark that the image pictured inside is her, the woman showing her nudity, caressing her hip, seducing the public and herself. The landscape is terrestrial but also submarine and her hair seems made of Mediterranean coral. Inside the mirror could be ideally printed the image of a woman in a certain moment of her life, and the image, despite “plastic” is static as stopped there from the time, not moving further, like a frame of a film. It is difficult to define the painting’s message, if negative anxious, either just full of unexpressed sexuality. Surely another painted scream in the silence of a dark blue night.

GOLDEN FISH IN A DESERT Oil on canvas 100X70X1.8 2011 LITHUANIA Golden Fish in a Desert is expressing the unpleasantness of a well-known long-lasting world’s situation. In a sort of post colonialism attitude the so called “globalized civilization” is still using far territories to place there their poisoned wastes, fruit of a mushrooming entropic industrialization that brings profits in the already wealthy world leaving the problems in the more unfortunate countries that still today are fighting to have access to the most natural and vital elements, water and food. The artist wants to slap us in the face with her painting, she wants to wake us up from the superficiality of our daily civilized lives, stimulate some civil, ethical, human reaction and move.

MATERIAL GIRL Oil on canvas 70X100X1.8 2011 LITHUANIA Once up on a time there was a girl, she was so greedy for gold and power that she sold her heart to demons and turned into a witch. She built her castle far from people high on the cliff above the see where she was sitting on a golden throne admiring her treasures. No men could reach her gloomy castle, so one stormy night the magpies flew to rescue the girl’s heart before it was too late. The birds tried to convince her that she is putting materialism ahead of matters of the soul, but she did not want to listen to them and turned the magpies into her chattering vassals, who had to serve her and bring shiny pearls, medals and coins as a prey to their mistress. Now there is just one way left for breaking the spell. The more people with gracious intentions will live in the world, the less powerful will be the black magic.

THE SPIRIT OF GREY CLOUDS Oil on canvas 60X80X1.8 2011 LITHUANIA

The Spirit of Grey Clouds was created with a very intimate message inspired by the mother of the author.

Poetry by Edoardo Sanguineti Life is the focal point of this piece of art by Aneta Chabibulina, the mysterious energy that generates the life and becomes from intangible suddenly material.

Various are the shapes of life represented here by the artist, from the explosive power of the volcano’s eruption, the lava that becomes hard ground after. The natural colored fireworks can be compared to the seed that becomes alive flush in the life generating belly of motherhood. Isn’t the earth our mother in the end? The onereic passage between not pregnancy and motherhood represents the turning point between not being and being. Thinking well and more philosophically this is just the opposite of death that is the journey from being condition to not being, therefore is a positive message. In the gentle, caring and healing hands of the mothers stays the sun: life’s source for this planet, element of nutrition for the life just as the placenta in the mothers’ bellies. It is a sort of recall of the Christian religious concept of “Corpus Christi” and sacrifice.

Behind the sun, like in a game between clear and dark, white and black, night and day, is visible a clear luminous moon, also indirectly representative of the Muslim world, religion and tradition. Approaching these symbols from a political point of view we can see the oppositions not like in the past, not generating sacred wars but generating life and cooperation between humans. In the same picture there is also the very personal and peculiar shift of status, becoming mother after having been daughter, both facing eachother like in the mirror of the life that runs fast and flows like a river. The new comer, the new life starting is the child joining our world. Another life is coming to populate this planet and is influencing the future of this world, of other people, is entering the mysterious and unpredictable Kreislauf.

ABOVE THE ROUTINE Oil on canvas 70X90X1.8 2011 LITHUANIA When we are walking like zombies in our densely populated cities busy with reaching carriers, raising children and surviving, we dream about a place to escape. The artist Aneta Chabibulina created the painting Above the Routine imagining how nice it would be if walking those grey streets it would be possible to suddenly loose gravitation power and float above the clouds, relaxing, enjoying self and charging with positive energy from the sun, our divine rejuvenator. Sun as well symbolizes enlightening in meditations and the mind and intellect in esoteric, thus it rejuvenates not just our bodies but also souls. Would you also like to find a button for loosing the gravitation power and rising above the clouds?

THE BIRTH OF A ROSE Oil on canvas 50X100X1.8 2011 LITHUANIA There are moments in our lives where we have to stop before changing the direction. During this turning point we challenge ourselves on what we believe, how we live, are we the master of our lives or we just took a common pattern and applied it on us. Aneta Chabibulina in her painting The Birth of a Rose captured a moment of a metamorphosis where the woman’s nature erupted from where it was hidden and neglected. The woman that appeared gentle like the blossom of a fresh rose suddenly exposed the real nature to self and to others. In that truthful moment she felt the awakening of her soul, the magic of a spring and lightness of pink, floaty clouds bringing her to a new beginning. In solitude and self analysis, intimate contact with the nature and tolerance we could reach the inner balance.

BEFORE A NEW DAY Oil on canvas 50X70X1.8 2011 DENMARK Сердце к сердцу не приковано, Если хочешь – уходи. Много счастья уготовано Тем, кто волен на пути. Poetry by Anna Akhmatova Did you ever love somebody in an agitated manner, so that you created a virtual cage constraining your chest and trapping your heart there? Did you give yourself away and waited to be rewarded? Did you believe that this precious present of your freedom will be appreciated? The painting Before a New Day is expressing the moment when after long suffering you start to understand that this sacrifice of self was not needed, that love is beautiful and happy just when is free.
