Makjaja Studio 4 Project, 12 weeks Instructor: Ir. Ikaputra, M.Eng, Ph. D A mixed use of fastfood restaurant and cafe located in primary road of Jogja, while the agenda of Studio 4 is to expand understanding towards structure and site context. The design idea is to shape new perspective of “a local fastfood restaurant.� It has the spirit of regionalism architecture to reminisce local eating culture in more modern functionalities of a fastfood restaurant.

BACKGROUND

A UNIQUE AMBIENCE The design aims to make a distinct ambience yet contextual to attract visitor to the commercial place

THE PEOPLE The genius loci have a unique eating culture that can be implemented

JOGJA FOOD FESTIVAL There is an opportunity to bring back the former eating habit to develop an architectural design through Jogja kind of Fastfood Restaurant concept +live cooking +outdoor +interaction

DESIGN TRANSFORMATION The basic mass is an elongated square following the site configuration and the concept of “street”

The long mass decreased in the middle to provide access to natural lighting in every parts of the building

Ruhui (Studio 3 Project, 6 weeks) Instructor: Harry Kurniawan, ST, M.Sc A one-story restaurant located in Jalan Kaliurang Km 5 Jogja, a premium urban area near UGM. The site is quite small, and becomes the only access to houses behind it. This design focused on how to create a contextual yet attractive building to fulďŹ ll the commercial function.

Oasis Homestay Studio 3 Project, 6 weeks Instructor: Dimas Wihadyanto, ST, MT A homestay in a countoury rural area with scenic view of ricefield in Kulonprogo, Yogyakarta. The site have a dominant existing vernacular building of Joglo in the centerwhich is considered a preserved heritage asset. In contrary, the user’s demands have to be fulfilled functionally in more efficient way.

The design brings an idea of Harmony in Contrast. The additional building which is functioned as boutique homestay designed white and light with concrete and glasswall materials.

It becomes background of Joglo which is used as main entrance and community space (pendopo).

Under the Trees Studio 2 Project, 2 weeks Instructor: Syam Rachma Marcilia, ST, Ph.D Bike shelter prototype took side on a cultural node of Jogja, Nol Kilometer. The aim is to study about functionality and context, beside the form itself. This bike shelter designed to be as void as possible to prevent distraction from the historical building of Vredeburg Fort behind.

Berpijak-Melayang Studio 1 Final Project, 3 weeks Instructor: Kurnia Widyastuti, ST, MT This is a study of room-shaped sculpture of ďŹ rst design studio, focused on form, materials, and the space itself. The main idea of the form is a hyperbolic paraboloid from a single paperfolding, followed by another 2 smaller hypars from membrane and 2 smaller hypars from woodsticks. The hypars then are connected by path arranged by cube of color-contrast styrofoam.

Teras Studio 5 Project, on-going Instructor: Ir. Adi Utomo Hatmoko, M.Arch, Ph.D 9 story city hotel located near Tugu Jogja, a landmark of the city. The site facing a street with a historical value called philosophy axes connecting Keraton Jogja to Merapi Mountain. The design occupied with regionalism architecture approach, using local materials, and adapting local culture. The hotel becomes a “permeable building� to expand public space along the stree in a form of terrace garden connected with hotel commercial section.

Playful [Smart] Space Competition Entry Paradesc 2014 Universitas Parahyangan The competition brief is to design an open area around Monumen Perjuangan Rakyat Jawa Barat, Bandung which is used by illegal tennants and an informal public space. A technology based smart space designated to maintain a new habit and in a playful way through some moveable architectural features to fulďŹ ll the uctuative needs of a public space.

Solo National Museum Competition Entry Revitalisasi Benteng Vastenburg UNS 2014 An integrated public space in abandoned Vastenburg Fort in Surakarta with additional function of museum inside the fort to give a new image and introduce the historical values of the site. 4 floating masses reflect 4 different timeframe. The ‘remained’ space used as a city garden integrated with paths of pedestrian and greeneries outside the fort edges.

Wide-Span Bamboo Shed (Workshop Project, 2 weeks) Instructor: Effan Adhiwira A 3 weeks bamboo workshop, conducted by Bamboo Notion community in colaboration with Universitas Gadjah Mada and Sidney University. 32 students of Sidney Uni and 29 students of UGM built a 17 meters work in a big team to build wide-span bamboo construction in the parking lot of Architecture Department UGM.

Buttery Bamboo Installation (Workshop Project, 1 weeks) Instructor: Effan Adhiwira A smaller project of the same workshop. The idea is to create a built-in bench in the form of installation. The main form is 5m bamboo arches connected with curves from manually laminated bamboo beam and raft footings.

SD IT Salsabila Masterplan (Community Development Project, on-going) Principal: Dr. Ir. Ahmad Sarwadi, M.Eng A masterplan of low-budget private islamic school consists of kindergarten-elementary school complex, a mosque, hall building, and boarding house for teachers. The site contains access to neighborhood housing and the building complex becomes an open public facility. Hence, the design maintain a connection with the surroundings. The building form itself is a conventional one and (menekankan) in climate adaption by using concrete blocks to create cross ventilation in order to keep the budget low.

PROJECT


In the making of this portfolio, I considered myself still have to run the extra miles. Being immersed in architecture, I am looking for another inspiration to break my creative limits and exploring a better motivation to face a real practise in architecture through internship opportunity.
