What's On - March

Hi I’m Susie, and I teach yoga in East Dulwich, in classes of up to five students. I’ve been practicing yoga for many years, and having tried various types, I decided to train to teach Viniyoga. Don’t worry if you haven’t heard of this style of yoga - most people haven’t - but the postures will be familiar if you’ve done yoga before, and they’re easy to learn if you’re a beginner.

Yoga Can

1) Help with mental health issues, such a reducing stress and anxiety.

2) Help with heart health and aid with lowering blood pressure.

3) Promote better sleep quality.

4) Improve flexibility and balance.

5) Increase strength.

Viniyoga is well-known for being easily adapted, so the postures can be modified to suit you to ensure you feel the benefits whatever your ability or level of fitness.

These classes are suitable for everyone, whether you’re new to yoga or have been practicing for years. I demonstrate and talk-through every posture, offering options for modification as necessary, then I watch the class and provide feedback.

Viniyoga places significant emphasis on breath work. Practicing controlled breathing, in conjunction with mindful movement, can be a great antidote to a long stressful day at work, especially if you sit for long periods at a desk. And as we age, activities that help maintain our balance and coordination becoming increasingly important to our general health.

A common misconception is “I’m not flexible enough to do yoga”, but you don’t need to be flexible to start practicing yoga. As well as improving strength and balance, yoga can help to increase flexibility. As one of my students said: “I can’t touch my toes, but I can do yoga with Susie.” (Bryony) yogawithsusie.co.uk / 07730 435503
