Laurie Sanderson & Shivali Shah
What is your favourite shop?
Forest - can never enter it without buying something! What was the last thing you bought there?
A replacement “String of hearts” plant as I had unfortunately killed my previous one.
How long have you lived in the area?
Shivali has lived in London since secondary school, and Laurie is a relative newcomer only moving to the area in 2016.
What do you most value about the area?
The community here is the best. Regular chats amongst neighbours help us stay connected and engaged with what’s going on. Be it a local popup market, film screening, school fete, or a lost cat, stolen bicycle, we all keep in touch and keep connected.
Do you know your neighbours?
We both love all our neighbours. They are great and have become like family to us and our children.
Do you belong to any groups?
We are both leaders in the 5th Camberwell Scout group.
What’s your favourite place for a night out?
Peckham- there are so many choices! I like to just walk around the area and pop in wherever suits me at the moment.
Where are you to be found on Saturday?
What is your favourite place to eat?
Begging Bowl in Peckham. Just love the interesting and creative menu.
Your favourite place to go for a drink?
It’s got to be Yama Momo for their amazingly exotic cocktails. The Electric Kamikaze is a must!
The best kept secret...
Can’t decide between The Griffin Sports Club in the Village and Stephanie’s on the South Circular. Who would have known that there is a huge sports ground with a newly refurbished clubhouse tucked away through an alleyway in Dulwich Village or that there is a fabulous chilled out outdoor cafe/bar directly opposite West Dulwich Station.
Where’s your favourite place to walk?
Sydenham Woods
In the morning its sports with the kids- Dulwich Sports Grounds for football, Herne Hill Velodrome for cycling, JAGs for swimming, North Dulwich Tennis Club.
Coffee or tea? Where?
Coffee at Christopher’s, we go at least once a week to chat and get busy with any projects happening.
When I want to relax...
I head out to one of the local parks and green spaces. We really are spoiled for choice here, Dulwich Park, Brockwell Park, Peckham Rye, the Greendale, Goose Green.
The best meal I’ve ever had..
That’s a tall order, but recently we had dinner together at Belair House, and their new north Indian menu is outstanding!
