Saturday 5 August: Kids’ Screen Print Workshop

Saturday 5 August: Open Garden at Bell House

10am – 12pm at Bell House. In this handson and exciting screen-printing workshop for kids, we are taking inspiration from pop artist, Keith Haring. We will start the workshop with a series of experimental drawing activities taking inspiration from the artist’s work. We will then make our own paper stencils, ready for screen printing onto fabric and t- shirts. This is an up-cycling screen-printing workshop, please bring your own vests, t-shirts, jumpers, tote bags, tea- towel or even socks from home, avoid buying anything new! This workshop is suitable for children aged 7–12 years, everyone welcome. Bell House Dulwich, 27 College Road, Dulwich SE21 7BG. Bookings can be made on: www.eventbrite.co.uk

11:30am - 1pm Bell House is opening its garden for visitors to explore. Set behind the Georgian manor house, visitors can explore the peaceful two-acre garden. Tea and coffee will be available. We are encouraging a £5 donation that will go towards garden maintenance and activities.

Saturday 5 August: Screen Print Workshop for Adults

2pm-5pm. In this hands-on and practical screenprinting workshop at Bell House, printers will draw designs and make paper stencils taking inspiration from your own project ideas or from the images available in the workshop, mostly focusing on bold shapes and patterns.

We will print using water-based textile screenprinting inks, using transparent and opaque colours to produce layered designs and repeat patterns. By the end of the workshop, you will have a collection of A5 – A3 screen-printed fabric samples.

All materials and equipment will be provided. Printers are welcome to bring their own fabrics from home and an old t-shirt or tote bag to upcycle and transform through print. If you have time before the workshop, feel free to cut your own A5 – A4 paper stencils.

This workshop is suitable for anyone, beginners, and those with experience. By the end of the three-hour workshop you will have a greater understanding of the process, the equipment and materials needed to print at home.
