BRAMHALL GOLF CLUB - CAPTAIN 2021

This month SKBramhall & Woodford caught up with Alan Smith, the new captain at Bramhall Golf Club to see how is year was progressing. “Taking on the role of Captain at Bramhall Golf Club was a huge honour for me having only started to play golf again in 2014. Previously I’d played at Davenport Golf Club but with a 20 year hiatus it felt as if I was starting again. Golf lovers will know this can be the case whenever we play” “With the support of staff and members my year to date has been amazing - better than I could have ever expected. Captain’s Weekend, held at the beginning of June, was a fabulous experience for me, despite not actually playing golf. Standing on the first tee for 8 hours and 6 hours each day to meet and greet those playing. The foot spa provided by my wife after day 1 was most welcome! Of course, the weather played a large part in the weekend’s success, both sunny and warm for both days.”

“Captain’s Away Day, at the beginning of July, saw a group of members travel to Chesterfield Golf Club for; lunch, an 18 hole competition and a 2 course evening meal. Again the weather played its part in ensuring a successful and enjoyable day.” “The good fortune, weather wise, continued on my third major event to date. Captain’s Day for Ladies saw me meet and greet the lady members playing off the first tee. The foot spa proved invaluable again at the end of the day! A most enjoyable day from my perspective with our lady members being very generous. The wine cellar is well and truly stocked!” Being more than halfway through my year as Captain evokes the adage, ‘time flies when you’re having fun’. It has been a wonderful experience and one which I will treasure for my remaining days. How perfect it would have been though if my actual golf game would have been just as perfect!
