GETTING THE BALL ROLLING FOR ST ANN’S HOSPICE

Last month Sarah Wolstenholme, Events Fundraiser for St Ann’s Hospice call in at Bramhall Golf Club to pick up a cheque for over £6,000 raised in 2022 by the Captain’s charity events. St. Ann’s was chosen mainly because the captains father-in-law died in the hospice several years ago. Margaret, the captains wife, has been a volunteer there for 16 years and is very passionate about it. It is also a Charity close to Lady Captains heart. Funds were raised by the following events: Lady Captains Charity Day (Comp fee donations/Cake Stall/Tombola/ Raffle) Captains Am-Am, Fines for hitting ball into pond, Raffle for the men on Ladies Bowl Day, Ladies Christmas Hampers, Mr Captain ‘rented out’ his car parking space on Ladies day each week, Sale of homemade Jam, Marmalade and also Duck Eggs and finally our Afternoon tea party.

St. Ann’s are planning a new purpose-built hospice on the site next to the current one in Heald Green. Although some funding has been secured, they still need to raise more and are currently running a campaign ‘Build it Together’. They have recently reached their first target of £500,000. The money raised from Bramhall Golf Club 2022 is the first donation towards the next target.
