DRESSING YOUR GARDEN ROOM THIS SUMMER
Summer’s approaching, hope for warmer days and evenings, look to spend more time in the garden gazing at how colourful and healthy the flora and fauna have become. Well, that’s some people, for me it’s never ending weeding, cleaning plastic glasses for the impending BBQ that have been in the garage since September and spying on the kids so they don’t eat all the snacks bought for guests. It’s great all the same.
Something I love to do is add accessories to freshen up the garden room. A few nice cushions, twinkly lights and a plant can do the trick. If you’re looking for a complete change, or have just had a new garden room installed, there are lots of styles and looks to choose from. Here are a few ideas. Whitewashed floor, walls and ceiling help make this room feel cosy like it’s enveloping you in cool fabric. Plump sofas, rug and a window seat in similarly muted tones add to the layers of texture that make it so inviting. Then darker tones for the coffee table, the actual chopped wood and the grey log burner prevent it becoming bland and lifeless. Add plants, people and coffee and relax.
The cushioned, cane seating and boho vibes are more fun and modern in the black, slatted walls of another garden room here. Black and white bold patterned floor pair with a jute rug, brightly coloured textured cushions and throws with macrame plant hangers. Note there’s not actually much colour added to this room, just small additions, lots of plants and touches of gold to complete the look. Perhaps it’s a necessity, you needed an office. This is a nod to modern working requirements where we often work from home. A more formal look with a dark grey sofa for client seating and a sculptural coffee table giving a professional feel. Shelves for display and a feature wall with storage to keep it tidy. You can always pack away the laptop, throw a blanket over the sofa and voila, a sheltered area for drinks.
Please let me know if I can help make this a reality, Sharon.
