1. DO YOU BELIEVE PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA WILL BE RE-ELECTED IN 2012? WHY OR WHY NOT? 2. OUT OF ALL THE CHRISTMAS GIFTS YOU’VE GIVEN TO LOVED ONES IN YOUR LIFE, WHICH WAS THE MOST MEANINGFUL AND WHY? 3. IF YOU WERE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE A NEW PROGRAM IN YOUR SCHOOL, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND FOR WHAT ? 4: IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY JOB IN THE WORLD, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
1. Many people have been trying to blame Obama for the continuation of many things that were messed up during Bush’s term, so it may not happen. People expected him to become president and magically solve all our problems, which can’t be done in one term. If people realize this in time he will be re-elected, but more than likely they won’t, so he probably won’t be re-elected.
Ashley Henderson Sophomore, Corliss High School Photo Journalism 1. Yes, I do believe President Obama will be reelected again in the year of 2012. I think so because President Obama is doing a great job and I see a change. The change I see is them catching Osama Bin-Laden. 2. Out of all of the gifts I got, I found my family the most meaningful. I found my family the most meaningful because I was happy to see my family’s faces again and for making another Christmas. 3. If I could create a new program in my school, it would be a hairstyles program. 4. If I could have any job I would have my own beautician shop because I love doing hair and I’m very good at it. I also would want to have my own daycare center because I love helping kids and seeing them happy. Another job I would like to have is being a lawyer because I want to help innocent people from going to jail for no reason. Takyra Cunningham Sophomore, Simeon Career Academy Southside Editorial 1. I honestly doubt that Mr. Barack Obama will be re-elected as the president in 2012. I say this because almost the entire United States population believes that he is the reason for the economic downfall, therefore he will not get as many votes this year. 2. Out of every Christmas gift I’ve ever received, the most valuable one is the love from my family. I say this because without family there is no real Christmas, so why celebrate if you are missing the most important gift of all. 3. If I were given the opportunity to create a new program for my school, it would be a PRIDE organization. Basically the purpose of this is to give homosexuals an equal opportunity to be good at things without having to worry about the humiliation or ridicule of a fellow student. 4. If I could have any job in the world, it would have to be the editor-in-chief for the Chicago Sun-Times Newspaper. I would prefer this job because I love to write and edit other peoples’ writing. Markita Watts Senior, Harlan High School, Radio Team 1. No, because every person I talk to about President Barack Obama, they say that nothing has changed. But you never know, I may be wrong. 2. Sometimes I feel like the greatest gift of all is my LOVE! I could never go wrong with that. I don’t have to worry about if they’ll like it because it’s nothing they can return to a store. 3. I would create a program for the students that always get picked on, or talked about, those with no friends. My purpose would be for them to understand and believe that they have a purpose on this earth too. It’ll also be for them to know that there is someone in this world that cares for them. 4. If I could have any job in the world, it would be a successful writer. The reason I say a writer is because I love writing about what I go through and what my friends go through. I believe that one day my life experiences can change another person’s life.
2. My granddad gave me a Cabbage Patch Kid a few years before he died. He was basically the only father figure we had in our life. He lived all the way in Memphis, Tennessee. When he came to town it was an event. He means a lot to me and my brothers, so I shared that Cabbage Patch Kid with them. 3. I would create a program for students that would prepare them for the “realness” of the world and also college readiness in the early years of high school. 4. I want to be the owner of a very successful and well-known bakery because I love to bake and decorate cakes, cookies, and cupcakes. Asanta Cunningham Sophomore, Simeon Career Academy After School Matters Graphic Design Team 1. Barack Obama will be re-elected in 2012. He is an excellent leader who is very intertwined with his work and what he does for us as a president. 2. When I was about nine years old, I made my mother a Christmas card and I put lots of love and effort into making that card for her and she loved it. 3. I would create a school program where students can have a free homework study period, with available tutors. It will help the students develop better grades and also knock something off of their to-do list. 4. I would be in the computer field (graphic designing, fixing computers, etc.). I love computers, I am very creative, and if I have a goal I will go above and beyond to achieve it. Elexis Ruiz Freshman, Freelance Editorial Columbia College Chicago 1. It’s unfortunate, but I don’t believe that Obama will be re-elected. A lot of people are giving him a bad review because they claim that he hasn’t changed anything, which is not true. The problem is that people are looking for obvious, fast changes, but big issues like a declining economy aren’t easily fixed. The past president’s drove the economy into the ground and left Obama with the burden of picking it back up. As hard as he has tried, people don’t give him as much credit as he deserves. 2. The most meaningful gift I have given a loved one is a picture frame with a collage of pictures in it, accompanied by a poem I wrote for this person. This gift was for my dad. The pictures that were in the frame were all candid shots of me and him making goofy faces, smiling, laughing etc. 3. If I was given the opportunity to create a new program in my school, it would be a program for writers. My passion is writing and I really do believe that it is a skill that everyone should learn. I would start an after school program much like creative writing and offer opportunities for students to get published and start creating a portfolio at a young age. 4. If I could have any job in the world, I would be a dancer because there is so much freedom of expression. Even in just watching people dance, you can see who really loves what they are doing. I would love to be able to travel the world in a dance company, dancing bachata, salsa, and hip-hop.
