As the core courses of Major in Business Design & Innovation (BDI), Architectual Design Studio I and II (re-named as Deisgn Thinking and Design Studio in the academic year of 2015-2016) require students to conduct design projects starting from problem research, problem identification, and leading to design solution. Subjects brought out by the courses are dynamic, including furniture design, interior desig, retail design, architechtual design and so on. The objective of the BDI Studio is to encourage students to fabricate complete projects while taking both business senses and visual communication into consideration.

u r b a n mapping sai ying pun, hong kong
To conduct an in-depth study of one’s living environment, the project is initiated and is based on the route from home to the HKU campus. The series of urban mapping consist of “what we perceive”, “what we miss out” and “how we get lost” in the city, which are centered on the information received by citizens, the people who form a community, and the human activities in the city.

Located by the seashore of Sai Kung, Victoria Recreation Club (VRC) is one of the first established clubs in Hong Kong. With a rich history of humanity and athletic activities, VRC witnessed the dynamics of social lives and the ups and downs in Hong Kong. At the present, VRC is also experiencing its own recession, and a pessimistic future is in sight. Initiated with case studies, analysis of VRC’s current situations and problem identification, the project is designed to provide recommendations for future potentials of the club. Besides appearance and construction design, renewal in services and usages of venue is also included for the renovation of VRC -- to once again entitle the club with its royal name.

1.3 design of
C H A I R : installation at jockey club culture & art center (jccac), hong kong
To align with the atomosphere and style at the jockey club culture & art center (jccac), elements of "relaxing", "tranquil" and "simple" are taken into consideration. Meanwhile targeting artists and designers who work at the center, the chair is deisgn with a style of minimalism and a portable function. The design process place a focus on the improvement in its portable mechanism and on the presence of more fluent outlines of the chair. The final solution is a detachable design to enhance its portability and to remain the linear design at the same time.

Apart from its simple, original style of interior design, the project of Aesop stores renovation emphasizes on the concept of “explore Aesop. To encourage customers to discover their own beauty and most suitable, customized products at Aesop stores, the project combines each retail with different types of scientists and skin-care experimental lab, hoping that customers can enjoy their time while shopping at Aesop and holding their own stories of exploration at these places.
To be more adequate for taking challenges in future career and studying in a higher degree, I have attended various positions related to marketing, public relations and journalism during undergraduate. These experiences include working as marketing internship, participating in marketing team of non-governmental organizations, taking charge of the creative director of the student association, and conducting visual communications for publicity. Working and taking part in several voluntary organizations not only allows me to apply theories and skills in reality but also enforces my resolution to set off a career in advertising and mass communications.

Apart from theories and techniques learned in the marketing realm, anorther path I step out for my future career in advertising is to study in visual communications. Starting from basic 2D and 3D communication design, to advertising conceptualization and to moving images and film production, I choose to study the field in different institutions and under distinct cultural exposure, including The University of California, Berkeley, The University of North Texas and Savannah College of Art and Design. Especially, the experience of studying abroad reinforces my determination and confidence to conduct my master degree in the United States, where dynamic culture and a rich history of mass communications exists.
