A Day Trip to Mykonos: The Hot Spots You Don't Want To Miss Once the boat approaches Mykonos’ New Port, visitors can already feel a breeze of the island’s festive atmosphere. White houses bathing under the sun and the beautiful Aegean blue sea puts you in the mood. For those who only have one day to know Mykonos the choices are numerous and the small distances help discover them in a 24-hour tour full of fun.

Breakfast at the Old Port

Having a long day in front of you, you may need to get some strength with a good breakfast and there is no better place to do it than the Old Port. Here you can find a row of Café-Restaurants with views to the traditional fishermen boats and the Sea Jets’ marina. All of them offer big variety of snacks, refreshments, juices and coffees. Local people also use to have their coffee at the Old Port, after buying fish and vegetables in the small market that is taking place here every morning.

Paraportiani: The Most Photographed Church of the Cyclades

Just a few steps behind the Old Port is the famous church Paraportiani, always appearing in posts cards and videos about Mykonos. The church is sited in the medieval castle of the island and consists of five smaller churches, creating a unique architectural complex. Capturing a moment here will later be one of your best summer souvenirs.

Kalo Livadi Beach

Crossing the island and heading north, will lead you to one of the most popular beaches, called Kalo Livadi, where you can swim, sunbathe, enjoy a drink and relax. The waters here are beautiful and calm and the beach is organized with bars that offer coffees, small lunches, various dishes of greek cuisine and delicious cocktails. Solymar is one of the most well-known beach bars of the island and a meeting point of Greek and foreign celebrities.

Ano Mera: Mykonos’ village

On your way back from Kalo Livadi you will pass from Ano Mera, the northern village of Mykonos. It’s a good idea to make a small stop, walk around the main square with the little taverns and have a look at the historical Monastery of Panaghia Tourliani. The church inside the monastery is dedicated to Holy Mary and was constructed away from the coast in order to avoid pirates’ attacks back on the 15th century.

Super Paradise Beach

In Mykonos the party begins early enough, so after 5.00 pm it’s time to head to Super Paradise beach, for an aperitif. The Super Paradise Bar will welcome you with all the latest dance hits and will have you moving to the rhythm all day long, by the sea. Later at night the music often changes to greek hits as more local people arrive at that time and keep the party going.

Sunset at Little Venice

Arriving at Mykonos Town around 8.00 pm is the perfect time to enjoy a stunning sunset in Little Venice. This place’s name derives from the typical houses built in the edge of the sea. This is an absolute romantic spot, originally called Alefkandra by the locals. Here you can admire the Aegean sea and the old wind mills, the all time classic symbol of Mykonos, while tasting impressive fruit punches, among other drinks. The bars are also situated at the edge of the sea like the famous Galleraki or Veranda which may be a safer choice on a windy day.

Mykonos by night Dinner options vary from elegant restaurants to cheap street food. Inside Mykonos’ town you will find greeks’ beloved souvlaki in every corner, as well as crêperies and pizza places. Restaurants like Kastro, Uno con Carne and Interni are just a few minutes’ walk from any part of the town. Interni Matoyiannia, Mykonos As for nightlife, Mykonos’ Town is full of bars and clubs that will keep you awake all night! Skandinavian is the favorite club of foreigners in town.
