Athens is a city that rarely sleeps. Grab your agendas (or your phones), and fill in your calendar with this small selection of events happening in 2017. From talks and musical performances to culinary happenings, there is no doubt that you will find something exciting to do.

Dinner In The Sky(middle of April-September) May all foodies please gather around and rejoice. Beginning April 15th, the Dinner in the Sky team is back again for a full season, until the end of September. A unique dining experience you should try once in your life, Dinner in the Sky takes you to new heights and offers a splendid view of the Acropolis and the rest of the city. It promises to be a night you won’t soon forget.


Depeche Mode in Athens(May 17th)

2017 is looking to be a great year for Depeche Mode fans in Greece. The UK band will grace the city with an epic concert on May 17th at the scenic Terra Vibe Park. The performance is part of the band’s European tour, and it will be the first time since 2013 that they will be performing on Greek soil. Buy your ticket soon, as it’s sure to be a sellout.

Technopolis Jazz Festival (May) For over 15 years now, the Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival has been welcoming musicians from around the world once a year in the lovely capital of Greece. The unique, summertime, free event has successfully managed to establish Technopolis as a major music venue. Happening on the last weekend of May, the celebration attracts both jazz novices and aficionados.


Athens & Epidaurus Festival (mid-June-August) Athenians welcome summer with its annual arts festival, complete with a full program of theater, music, and dance events happening at several venues including the Megaro Mousikis Concert Hall, the National Theatre of Greece, and the two ancient amphitheaters of Odeon Herodes Atticus in Athens and the Theatre of Epidaurus. Attracting visitors from all over the world, the Athens & Epidaurus Festival, which starts in mid-June and continues until the end of August, often features classic plays.


The Spartathlon (September) Held every year in late September, the Spartathlon, created in 1983, is a 246-kilometer-long marathon race that connects the city of Athens to Sparta, retracing the footsteps of Athenian messenger Pheidippides, who was sent to seek help from the citizens of Sparta to fight the Persians in the Battle of Marathon. Starting at the foot of the Acropolis, the race runs along the coast through Corinth and later Nemea and Mount Parthenio and then to Tegea, ending in Sparta.

Athens Bar Show (November) The Athens Bar Show is the largest celebration of the local bar scene. Growing with each passing year, with two of its watering holes included in the ‘World’s 50 Best Bars’ list, the show promises to be an excellent opportunity for anyone involved in the industry. Set for the 7th and 8th of November, the Athens Bar Show will be held at the Technopolis, located in the Gazi district.
