MArch Design for Performance & Interaction The Bartlett School of Architecture Interpolate Performance
Interpolate is an interactive choreographic performance using wearable technologies and pneumatics, which aim to connect a dancer with audience members in an experience of movement, tactility and remote touch. Inspired by the contemporary dance technique of contact improvisation, the wearable attempts to simulate the sensation of touch on the bodies of the performer and audience members. A mechanical glove maps the finger movements of the performer, which, with the use of pneumatics, causes air pockets to inflate on a wearable device on the body. The movement of each finger corresponds to specific points on the torso, providing stimulus for the performer to move and causing novel couplings of action, sensation and coordination across the body. Inviting members of the audience to wear the same devices on their bodies, Interpolate also translates movement from one body to the other, allowing the audience to feel the stimuli the dancer is creating and responding to in their performance. Interpolate explores possibilities around the puppetry of the self and of others, but attempts to represent trust and empathy between dancer and audience rather than domination and control.

Rambert Dance Company Playground+ Choreography Workshop The purpose of the workshop was to explore how a performer explores and express body extensions. The dancers were asked to develop their own hand crafted wearable costume and there through a series of exercises and guidance we explored different dimensionalities with our bodies and the space.

First we explored contact improvisation technique and then I tried to influence the stimuli of movement through the wearable. The dancer was responding and interacting with movement according to the stimuli and performance that the pneumatics on her body.

Rambert Dance Company P layg ro u n d + Work s hop Choreographic Device Live Performance After 3 hours of preparation with the dancers, through exercises, relaxation, contact improvisation and self body exploration, I sheared in a public performance the function and the mechanism of the mechanical choreographic devise. The dancer performed the piece through my tactile guidance on the body and the she developed a memory to perform the piece.
MArch Architecture RIBA II Nottingham Trent University The de-industrial Textile Factory This project represents the final thesis project of my master degree in Nottingham Trent University in 2015. The project is located in Ivrea, a small city near Turin in Italy which is famous of the Olivetti headquarters and factories. As a unit we have been asked to create an innovative factory which is going to satisfy the 21st century industrial design standards. The main concept design approach is to introduce a textile factory which is going to link the new residential zone with the old medieval zone of the city and it is going to work as a social and distribution space for the people. The James Stirling museum in Stuttgart is one of the basic inspirations and case study of my project, by creating a public rotunda in the core of the site which is going to filter the people from one zone to the other and taking advantage of the landscape level differences. One of the most important parts of my design proposal is the interior circulation system of the people and especially the material that is being produced in the factory. The material from the first stage of production until its final inspection and export is doing a vertical circulation within the space. The raw materials are getting prepared in the ground floor, then with lifts are transferred to the second/top floor of the building, where is the working space While the silk textiles are being produced out of the looms, there are opening on the floor between the 2nd and the 1st floor, which allow the material to drop down up to the ground floor where all the machinery and manufacture is taking place. In the meanwhile, the floor in between is the event public space, in which visitors and people they can see the threads and the fabrics that are hanging from the floor above and have an interactive relationship with the product. The design concept has been based on Piero Luigi Nervi the Gatti Wool Mill and the Johnson Wax Headquarters of Frank Lloyd Wright. The main building structural material that has been used for the design development is concrete and ferro cement, with some extra glass applications for the facades and steel structural systems for extra support. The building construction process has been one of the most important parts of the design development. The syntheses of the components are structural elements which through reinforcement steel they come together.
