What an incredible way to celebrate our 10th Anniversary! With more events, activities and visitors than ever before, our 10th Edition was truly a wonderful way to mark the end of a decade. As we begin the next chapter of our journey, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the multitude of supporters, partners, and sponsors whose generosity has helped make all this possible. We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2015 for the 11th Edition of the Angkor Photo Festival & Workshops!

I have gained more than what I could have possibly imagined. Not only did I get to know more about myself, but I am experiencing the passion again that pushed me to photograph in the first place. - (R) Peter Teh, 39, Malaysia 2014 Workshop Participant

From indoor galleries to installations in public spaces, our 10th Edition’s exhibition programme featured 14 print exhibitions all across Siem Reap, showcasing work by photographers from all over the world. Thanks to the support of the Siem Reap Government, the riverside area of Siem Reap became one of our main venues for public exhibitions. This greatly increased the exposure of the photographer’s works, and also helped us reach out to even more of the local community and visitors from around the world.
[ g r eenlig ht exhibitio n ser ies ] A component of the exhibition programme, our inaugural GreenLight Exhibition Series was a huge success! very year, eyes are averted from the temples of Siem Reap and instead focus on the hundreds of powerful images that transform the city into an artistic hub. Now in its 10th year, Angkor Photo Festival and Workshops has evolved in leaps and bounds since its humble beginnings in 2005. As the brainchild of founding photographers, Jean-Yves Navel, Roland Eng and Gary Knight, the aim was to provide a series of workshops and exhibitions to give back to the community. What began as a small round of photos showcased Subrata biSwaS in small pockets of the city, coupled When Art Meets Life with a few workshops, has snowballed into one of Southeast Asia’s biggest photographic festivals. And today, it attracts photographers from across the globe as well as providing a platform for home-grown talent to exhibit their work. Festival organiser Jessica Lim says, “As the longest-running international photo event in Southeast Asia, Siem Reap transforms into the photography hub of Asia every November. We’re glad that the thousands of visitors who come to the city to visit the magnificent temples of Angkor are also able to join in our events, as everything is free and open to the public.” As well as attracting artists from the global stage, some of Cambodia’s most talented photographers are set to show the world their talents, including Kim Hak, who is exhibiting his thought-provoking work this year. Sophal Neak and Meng Kimlong’s work will also be projected during the eight-day festival. Lim adds, “As an international festival, this is a great place for Cambodian photographers to come meet their peers from the rest of the world, to interact and discuss and to expose themselves to a professional level of photography.” Angkor Photo Festival runs from Nov. 29 to Dec. 6.
