The Karnataka Assembly election 2018 result is close to being known as vote counting is underway on Tuesday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally blitz in the state poised to pay off. Further, BJP workers were reportedly celebrating outside the party office in Bengaluru.According to official Election Commission trends as of 12.50 pm, the BJP was leading in 104 seats and had won four seats, the Congress was leading in 69 seats and had won one, the Janata Dal (Secular) was leading in 40 seats, the Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janatha Party was leading in one, the Bahujan Samaj Party was leading in one, and the independents were leading in one seat.The Election Commission has deployed 16,662 personnel for counting of votes amid tight security.

All exit polls gave the H D Deve Gowda-led Janata Dal (Secular) nearly two dozen seats or more, which could make it the kingmaker if there is a hung Assembly.

5) Congress open to post-poll alliance with JD(S): Congress' Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday told news agencies that "... We hope Congress will form the government in Karnataka and are confident of it, but yes all options (allying with JD(S)) are open."

6) BJP rules out post-poll alliance with JD(S): BJP's Sadananda Gowda told news agencies, "There is no question of alliance (with JD(S)) as we are already crossing 112 seats."

7) What exit polls have predicted: The India Today-Axis My India exit poll has predicted that Congress is likely to win 106-118 seats with 39 per cent vote share and will be the single-largest party in Karnataka.The Chanakya exit polls indicate a clear victory for BJP (120 seats), followed by Congress with 73 seats and JD(S) with 26 seats.
