Within the core Creative Industries degrees, here at Bath Spa, our approach is simple: we believe that, to be truly creative, we need to ensure that what you learn is bang up to date and in line with what creative employers are looking for. We also believe that we need to put you in situations to network, hear from and work with professionals from the creative industries. This means, that a great deal of your time will be spent – not on essays and exams – but on projects and practice that will enable you to explore your creativity. We believe that the best creative projects come from collaboration and team work. If you are a PUBLISHING student this means that you might get to work with Penguin Random House or produce the social media strategy and content for the BBC Children’s Global Media Summit. In FILM AND MEDIA you may find yourself filming and producing content for TedX or hearing from BBC’s Blue Planet team. In CREATIVE COMPUTING you may explore new ideas with IBM or with the new Virtual Reality Lab in Bristol and in CREATIVE WRITING you could find yourself performing your work at a literary festival – or even on national television. Bath Spa is definitely a place where you can be creative and collaborative, where you can push the boundaries and have a great time doing it. If you are creative, this is definitely the right place to be. I am really looking forward to you joining us in Autumn and I hope today will give you a glimpse of what life is like here at Bath Spa. Come and develop your creativity with us.

MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR DAY GETTING HERE

PLAN Your day includes everything we think you’ll need to know about studying and living at Bath Spa. However, if you feel you’ll need extra information or want to talk to a staff member privately about finance, health, disability or anything else, call us before you come to arrange a private appointment with the relevant member of staff.

Plan your travel so that you can be here for registration at 9.30am. If you’re arriving by car, don’t forget to get a parking permit, print and display this on your dashboard. Enter BA1 5SF into your Sat Nav or find directions on our website: www.bathspa.ac.uk/about-us/ how-to-find-us. If you are coming by car, please factor in another 15 minutes to get to the registration area on time and don’t forget to bring your parking permit with you.

MAKE FRIENDS TOP TIP Some of our Halls of Residence are located off-site. It’s really worthwhile to visit these once you receive your programme for the day. 4 | Applicant Visit Day

Be brave! Strike up a conversation with as many people as possible. Talk to the student you are sat next to in the subject session or someone you’re walking alongside on the tour, that way you’ll have some familiar faces when you arrive in September.

QUESTIONS Write down your questions beforehand; think about what you want to get out of the day and what you need to find out. This can be questions on: course flexibility, facilities, assignments/exams, studying abroad and work placements, Halls of Residence, university social life and Bath itself.

TOP TIP Be the one to ask questions. Lecturers and staff appreciate engagement, and you’ll learn a lot about your course before you even start.

EXPLORE BATH If you have the time it’s worth going into Bath to get an idea of what living in this city might be like. The SouthGate carpark is open 24/7. By taking the bus in you’ll pass all the student living areas. Some areas to visit might include: the Abbey, the Roman Baths, the Circus, the Royal Crescent, Royal Victoria Park, SouthGate Shopping Centre, Thermae Spa or Bath Theatre Royal.

MAKE NOTES Bring something you can make notes with: whether it’s your tablet or a notebook and pen, it’s really handy to have something with you.

TOP TIP Why not jot down our email addresses so that you can ask us questions when you get home?
