A PA RT M E N T Gollamari,Khulna Our present is profoundly conditioned by a climate of change, which owe equally to natural and anthropogenic dynamics of most sorts. On the other hand, both our imminent and long-term futures, as far as we may anticipate using whatever parameter we make available, will certainly be moulded by Climate Change. This becomes particularly relevant for those of us in the LECZ (Low Elevation Coastal Zone) nations like Bangladesh. These aforesaid events, which the cities like Khulna would certainly include where architectural design and innovation can play a major part.

on earth. God’s grace preserved the lives of eight people -- Noah and his family. God also instructed Noah to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, both male and female, and seven pairs of all the clean animals, along with every kind of food to be stored for the animals and his family while on the ark.”
[ HUMAN & NATURE RELATIONSHIP ]
This project symbolizes the learning from the story of NOA “Over the course of time humans continued to overstep the limits God had placed on them. Man’s increasing disobedience caused God to reassert his lordship by engineering a fresh start that would give the human race another opportunity at obedience. The consequence of humankind’s widespread corruption was a great flood that effectively ended all but a remnant of life

The design idea comes from this story where an apartment will be a habitat not only for the Humans but also for the plants and animals. This will create an ecological habitat and a healthy environment for our children to grow.
[ CONCEPTUAL SECTION OF VERTICAL GARDEN ]
If a micro habitat can be constructed that mimic natural ecosystem, that will surely provide ecosystem to a certain extent. Besides it›ll be a potential new habitat for Plants and Animals in Urban areas. Thus a healthy environment will be created which will absolutely have a great contribution to a healthy childhood. The environment of dream will come true where childrens can pick the fruits from the tree of his own Garden. And this all is connected to the life form of water. Without the proper placement of water in this ecosystem this micro habitat will be out of existence. The tricky process to create this micro ecological habitat is to make a place that serves food and nesting oppurtunity for the animals. That leads to a continuing natural process and children can get a healthy memory of childhood from the natural contact.

[ MASSING ANALYSIS] - in respect of the west side The major challenge of this project lies in the facade treatment of the west side. On this side, the great river view
situated and on the contrary the mighty sun hits with its full power in the evening. So, the challenge is to allow wind and river view as well as protect the habitates from the sun.
level : 5 term: 1
The massing analysis is done through three steps - first the central zone , the the the right side along with the whole exposure creation and finally the fasade eliment on the west.
1. [ Center]
2. [ Exposure]
3. [ Facade]
To avoid the direct sunlight the center portion is pushed where central vertical circulation is put with a vertical garden.
The right side is being flat creates a exposure for the central and right wing.
The rest two sides are covered from the sun by veranda and vertical louvre
[ FINAL OUTPUT ]
The vertical circulation is like a vertical garden along with the jali. which can contain bush like plants that stores humidity and protects the direct sun.

- Lakeside Movement - Lakeside road connection missing to the nearest river connection - Lack of pedestrian pathway
45.75% Inaccessible Road
The traditional media of transportation is on the edge of exrinction
The lake side road has Street furniture but they are low on number to relaxation or comfort
People’s activity survey shows that there the scope for optional activity is less than the necessary activity
Except shishu park there’s no scope for active or passive engagement
- scenario at RURAL AREA
The LAKE itself works as a reference and the development orders follows the curvilinear line make by the bank.
- scenario at CBD
Less diversity of form is seen in Center Business District
The defined public space found is less in number
Soft Landscaping : The road side facade doesn’t consider tree line. Organiztion of Form is quite informal in the Rural area than the CBD
here every arrow on the plan represents a drawing
But the opposide off the lakeside creates a solid wall like barrier which is not permeable and lack of openness. This is the scenario in the CBD area which dissatisfy public experience. In the rural district this scenario is the opposite.
Street furniture : Benches beside the lake side road is hardly seen. this eliviates the scope to pause in the path and have a long public experinence Floorscape : The pavement is solid and covers the earth in it’s maximum limit.
Analysis of serial vision alongs the lakeside pathway shows the impermiability on one side.

The building facade by the streets does not hold any kind of public activity like cafe, shop . So, the interaction between people and space is low in the public streets.
In commercial zone this a is far more interactive.
The less and short time activity in the public realm results to decreasing social survilience that increases the possiblity to crime.

Launch ghat area, the central busness district of gopalganj city grows on the eastern side. Land use diversity, buildig block density, and connectivity are more fluent there. As a result the city block appeared as fine grain.
One the other hand, the growing pressure is too much to take for this side. So the population and vehicle density and for that the environmental hazard is creating a mess around this place. This no longer support a healthy urban life.
As if the CBD explains the present and upcoming condition of the whole gopalganj city.
It is worthy to mention that the growing residential area around the commercial area does not quite balance of the two side of the lake. The landuse analysis supports this phenomenon. (The diagrams are on the right side of this spread)
So it’s certain that possible along with the potential commercial and recreational zone should be developed on the west side.

[ NATURAL RESOURCE ANALYSIS ] Rethinking Gopalganj lake park, Sheikh Russel Shishu Park and Gopalganj Stadium Market can be a great help to save natural resources. Most importantly the big issue of dying lake can be checked by reviving the lake side activity and lake transport. Contact with nature is equally important because when people own the nature they can’t detroy it.

The Formal Living room is kept double highted and placed on the east side where the morning begins. A bridge is connected from the family living to library and bedroom. The dining room is also kept double highted on the west. A brick screen jali on the wall keeps the space out from the heat sun and creates dramatic play of the light and shadow. The central light well connects these two doble highted space and provides sunlight into the whole house. Thus the whole area is lighted and needs less artificial light at day time and saves money.
The major circulation turns around the central core area that allows proper light and ventilation through the whole house. It also gives a fresh journey both visually and mentally.
