HHRD Works for the People and With the People
HHRD firmly believes in providing a helping hand not a hand out; this requires an integrated approach to the development and often redevelopment of disaster areas. HHRD’s vision as a leader is to empower lives through creating opportunities and strengthening the bond of humanity.
HHRD Water For Life Program Within the past 7 years, this program has improved access to clean drinking water and sanitation for over
1 million
people in Afghanistan, Africa, Bangladesh, Nepal, Jordan, Lebanon and Pakistan. On average women in Africa walk 3.7 miles, one way, in search of water while leaving behind young children to fend for themselves. Often from infected sources, these mothers return with 5 gallons of contaminated water. This results in malnourishment, water borne disease, dehydration, and in many cases--death. HHRD helps people gain access to clean water for daily consumption and irrigation purposes through construction and rehabilitation of water supply schemes as part of our Water For Life (WFL), and Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH) programs.

HHRD Building Lives Through Its Orphan Support Program HHRD’s Orphan Support Program (OSP) supports
19,350
orphans in 20 countries. Sponsored children receive school tuition, supplies, pocket money, annual medical screenings, and character-building psychological support.
The United Nations has estimated that 153 million children are orphaned from losing one, or both, of their parents. Many live in horrific conditions, where the lack of even essentials prevents them from moving forward. Sponsoring donors receive educational progress reports, medical reports, and correspondence from their orphan. The global refugee crisis in Syria and Myanmar along with the droughts in Africa and Pakistan have caused an influx of children who have suffered the loss of one or both parents and thus need immediate care.

HHRD’s Education Support Program (ESP) promotes literacy, improves standards of education and strengthens the education system by providing easier access to quality education in remote areas. This program helps communities through scholarship programs, and sponsoring children by providing school supplies, stipends, tutoring lessons and home visits. These initiatives encourage and empower the minds and hearts of future teachers, doctors, engineers, leaders and citizens, who will influence communities and societies around the world for a better future. HHRD is offering this program for Syrian Refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, and Pakistan.

These services include: Mother Child Health Centers, Mobile Medical Units/Ambulance Services, Cataract Eye Surgeries, Medical Trainings and support of Government Health Facilities in Africa, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan. Understanding the future of any cause lies in the wave of leaders that follows. HHRD’s Youth Empowerment Program brings forth a group of talented individuals who gain first hand humanitarian experience through its Summer Internship and Youth for Haiti, Jordan and Africa programs. College students from across the nation apply for internship positions to work alongside experienced HHRD employees to gain first-hand knowledge on the efforts of aid workers. Over the course of two months they are walked through the various departments and learn the steps of conveying information to the national donor base. It’s winter and spring break relief emersion trips aboard group these young people with mentors and seasoned HHRD employees in our offices aboard. Over the course of one week these youths have an experience of a lifetime. They not only witness the lives of those in need on a first-hand basis but also physically give back to HHRD beneficiaries. HHRD is truly fortunate in being able to provide this unique avenue for fostering a new wave of humanitarians, social activists and philanthropists.

HHRD's vision of One Home One Skill is to sustain the livelihood of every household. Donations to this program can help a family secure a more stable financial future, with honorable means, through proper training and education. Sustainable means of livelihood are developed by establishing Skills Development Centers (SDCs), Industrial Homes (IHs), and Institutes of Industrial Technical Education (IITEs) all of which are designed for the socio-economic development of people, especially women, from vulnerable and disaster hit communities. HHRD currently provides training to men and women in 6 countries. These centers set out to impart training, organize artisans, assist in developing products, improving product quality and then marketing these products.
