Feeling out of place in the world, Amber leaves the mole village in order to find her own kind, the family she truly belongs to. Wanting to fill the void in her heart, she embarks on an adventure. She employs Lydic and Andro, two very different aliens to lead her on her way, though neither of them wants Amber to join her people because they know the true nature of her origins.
