Architecture according to me, is experience in raw form. Its the perception of the observer about their surrounding context. Since different people percieve things differently, itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d be reprehensible to have a universal approach to design. It varies from person to program. The importance of architecture is not in how it provides, but is in how it preserves. The architecture of a place shows the evolution, culture and nature of that place. Order is prevalent in any place without human interference. Architecture shouldâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;nt deteriorate that order, but try to emulate the closest possible nature of that order.

(g). Front door. Richly carved doors at the entrance of the monastery. (h). Window. The external windows have a façadial treatment where they’re placed inside a black trapezium block and have richly coloured paints separated by wooden blocks over the lintel. (I). Secondary Statue. Under the pinnacle of the roof rests this statue of their lesser dominant god in a room with two storey height overlooking the main Buddha statue. (j). Column Architrave. The column architrave, frieze and cornice are intricately detailed with repeating floral patterns and mythical creatures.

RURAL CASESTUDY INFERENCE GURUVARAJAPET 13°06’45”N 79°32’50”E

A typical south-Indian village that originated around the temple of the Hindu deity Shiva, located in Vellore, Tamilnadu.

Weaving is the primary occupation and agriculture, the secondary field of work in the village.

Due to its proximity to water bodies and the relatively high altitude, the village is susceptible to droughts.

RURAL CASE-STUDY INFERENCE

The rectangular houses escalated from the circular huts which were initially plethoric. Mud was the building material initially, as resources were made available, they advanced, integrating mud with stone and bricks which gave them rigid structures and opened the possibility of building more than one storey. Similarly, the roofing material evolved from hay, which was used in thatched roofs, to Madras tiles which are more water-proof and has a lower thermal retention factor. Casuarina sticks are used as the scaffolding poles to support the roofing structure. Coconut coir ropes are utilized to tie together the scaffolding poles.

Section YYâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;

Amongst the mammoth sized silhouette of the two halls, emerge a work of nature. Built from what it rests on, a dual-levelled space is created to connect both the people and the space itself.

Convention Hall Roof in Elevation The roof of both the convention hall and exhibition hall are designed to focus the captured rain water from the roof to the central rain garden during the monsoon.

The parametric form arrives taking into consideration the huge traffic involved in that site specific area where two pathways are created, one under and one over. Trees are to be planted in the tapered hollow columns that run down and a gardenesque landscape above. (a). Self-Sustaining Matrix. A Minimum of 2 ways to get from any of the 4 points to any other. (b). Points of Interests. Gardens formed from the dip in spacefunction programme as points of interceptions. (c). Climatic Adaptation. The programme depends on the ongoing season. During monsoons, the sub-structure is converted into a rain garden.
