This is a project i completed for my graphic design class. This project started out as a practice of diffrent kinds of grids and then went into a research based project. I started out by creating 10 diffrent grids to learn the ones i never payed attention to. After that i researched the Internationl typographic style aka Swiss style. I learned alot about it and i used this style to create my final project. This issuu is going to contain alot of the sample thumbnails i made. There are 70 diffrent thumbnails i created before i made my finalized copy. This project took a while to research and create, definetly was not an easy one either. Follow me as i explain the steps i took to create this project and to finalize my idea and finaly create it as my final project on Internationl Typographic Style.

By Anis Kuzmis March 26 2014

These are the first 10 Grids i made for practice...

After i made these grids, i had a better idea of what i had to do for the project. I started by researching my topic and ended up typing up a little over 300 ords about the history and what Internationla Typographic style is. I eneded up writing this...

The International Typographic Style is a older style movement. It originally came from Switzerland and Germany that gained most of its popularity in the 1950’s and 60’s. Also known as the Swiss style, The International typographic style is emphasized as a asymmetrical organization of the elements on a mathematically constructed grid. Typography used was sans-serif typography and set in a flush left / ragged right configuration. There are three main characteristics of international typographic style. The first is Visual unity of design achieved by asymmetrical organization of the design elements on a mathematically constructed grid. The second is Objective photography and copy that present visual and verbal information in a clear and factual manner, free from the exaggerated claims of much propaganda and commercial advertising. Finally the third characteristic of international typographic style is Sans-serif typography set flush left, ragged right. The initiators of this movement believed sans-serif typography expressed the spirit of a progressive age and that mathematical grids were the most legible and harmonious means for structuring information. This style was and still is a breakthrough in the graphic design world. It is used by anyone who is strictly trying to get the point of his or her poster or project over to the customer in a clean and effective way. The big type and interesting layout of this style makes the person looking at it be very interested in what they are looking at. Bigger companies or events would use this style to be able to either show off their logo or their main motto in a big and effective way to catch the attention of people. Also the sideways type, and sans-serif text makes for a creative and interesting composition, it is really easy to catch someone’s attention and be able to show off the main point of your work.

After i did this i started creating diffrent grids that would fit this intresting style...

After creating those thumbnails i picked 4 that i really liked to make in indesign and then choose one as my final... The International Typographic Style is a older style movement. The last one i showed was one of my favorites, i based it on another picture i found...

I used the deisgners idea of lines. I really liked how it looked so i decided to make my own style like that.

As i researched i came across some very intresting ideas for the style i was looking at, here are some of the pictures i found that inspired me...

I started to finalize my final project. and my teacher suggested to edit the text and create 2 columns, to make the title in bold and to readjust the text boxes around...
