TUNISIA
Tunisia , “ Pearl of the mediterrean “ or “ The Jasmin Land “ fine mix of European and Middle Eastern culture with its rich history and scenic views. It is a country in Northern Africa south of Italy and Malta. It’s bordered by Libya to the Southeast and the country of Algeria to the west. Having Tunis as its capital, our beloved Tunisia has a Mediterranean coastline that makes it a popular tourist destination. The climate here varies with the region. It is temperate in the north with mild winters that are sometimes rainy , but the summers are mostly dry. Our Archeological sites from Phoenician to Roman, Byzantine, Arabic, Ottoman and European; médinas, mosques; long-lived arts and popular traditions; artistic events; craft industry; music and songs of the traditional and popular registers. Tunisia has as many sites declared humanity inheritance as Greece. Our People : A synthesis of various civilizations, Carthage and Rome to mention only themost prestigious ones, Tunisia has always been distinguished by intense cultural activity. Berber, Arab, African and European influences have shaped the Tunisian cultural identity. Although Islam is prevailing, all other great religions coexist peacefully in Tunisia. Jewish and Christian communities freely observe their rites and contribute to enriching the diversity of the Tunisian culture. Warm and hospitable, Tunisians are always available and ready to lend a hand. BY ROSIE BECKHAM
Our Handicrafts : Copper, wool, ceramics, jewelry and leather are the basic materials of Tunisian handicrafts. Chrome plated copper and bronze are used to produce different wares including pestles, candelabras and saber’s handles. Tunisian carpets are quality handicrafts. Different types of high pile carpets are available including the Berber gatifa carpet, the mergoum widely used in central and southern Tunisia and the alloucha traditionally manufactured in Kairouan. Working with clay is highly developed in the Cap Bon area in particular. It may be but a slim wedge of North Africa’s vast horizontal expanse, but Tunisia has enough history and diverse natural beauty to pack a country many times its size.

SFAX
Capital of the South and Capital of the arabic culture in 2016 , Sfax , a major port town situated in eastcentralTunisia on the northern shore of the Gulf of Gabes. The town was built on the site of two small settlements of antiquity, Taparura and Thaenae, and grew as an early Islamic trading centre for nomads. It was temporarily occupied in the 12th century by Sicilian Normans and in the 16th century by the Spanish, and it later served as a stronghold of theBarbary pirates. The town was bombarded by the French in 1881 prior to their occupation of Tunisia and again in World War II, when it was used as an Axis base until captured by the British in 1943. Construction of the modern port was begun in 1895, but the port was destroyed—along with a large portion of the town itself—during the war. The subsequent reconstruction left Sfax divided into two parts: the town’s newer section and the old city (medina), with its 10th-century mosque and casbah (citadel) surrounded by the original ramparts built in the 9th century

kairouan
The name Kairouan means "caravan," indicating the city's origins as a settlement where desert trade carvans stopped. The walled city of Kairouan regarded as the fourth holiest city in Islam after Mecca , Medina and Jerusalem , where praising God and selling carpets are the most revered of occupations. If you haven’t been lost in any of Tunisia’s other medinas, the streets of Kairouan are sure to confound you. The crumbling, white-washed, blue- and green-edged houses, some hung with birdcages or marked by the hand of Fatima, are haunting and beautiful. It was here that Arabs established their first base when they arrived from the east in AD 670, and Kairouan became so important in the Islamic hierarchy that seven visits to this tiny place equal one visit to Mecca.

Djerba island
Djerba, the isle of Forgetfulness , is an island with a harmonious mixture of Mediterranean brightness and sandy beaches, strong desert heat and lack of vegetation, and peculiar, beautiful, whitewashed domed-hut architecture. This extends to the island’s ethnic mix: Berber culture is dominant here and local women are wrapped in cream-striped textiles, topped with straw hats. A Jewish community, once integral to the island’s ethnic make-up, still remains on the island in small numbers, despite mass emigration to Israel. And the tourists, most of them on package holidays, splash around the island in seasonal waves, bringing precious employment and taking precious water resources. Blessed with three hundred days of sun each year and offering over eighty miles of shoreline, Djerba beckons those searching for paradise. Known also as the “land of dreams”, it is believed Nature created Djerba to enchant the imagination of the human soul.
