Jerome Waiters, a veteran, devoted father, loving grandfather, supportive brother, and dear friend departed from this world on April 5, 2025, at the age of 75, in Miami, Florida.
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Jerome was the beloved son of the late Mr. George Waiters and Mrs. Cecil Brock Waiters. He was preceded in death by his siblings: sister Brenda Waiters Wilson, brother Ivory Waiters, sister Naomi Waiters, and daughter Tedi Whiston, who will forever hold a place in our hearts.
Jerome's educational journey took him through the public school system in New Jersey. Jerome joined the military. His pride in serving his country was evident, as he honorably dedicated time to several branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. After serving his country, he began a fruitful career at the Miami airport and Entenmann's Bakery. A man of many talents, Jerome was a skilled craftsman whose creativity flourished in building projects, sketching, and baking. His infectious humor and laughter illuminated every gathering, and he generously shared his time and talents with all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Jerome is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Waiters, and his children: Jerona Waiters of Albany, Georgia; Alterek Waiters Sr., Veronike Waiters, and Katavia Waiters of Camilla, Georgia; Meondric Waiters of Miami, Florida; Kenyetta Knighton of Conyers, Georgia; and Esigrid (Stephan) Owoundi of Maryland.
As a proud grandfather, he leaves behind his grandchildren: Shaquantus Waiters, Tony Brown Jr., Jontavia (Tierra), Moore Sr., Carlisha Davis, Kimbreyonna Williams, John L. Moore Jr., Kamarion Jackson, Antferny Waiters, Alterek Waiters Jr., Al’leigha Waiters, A’Jaya Foster, De’Ivyon Green, Alexia Jackson, Nathan Baptise, Nakivia Baptise, Norris Baptise, Natrone Baptise, Grenisha Ferguson, Kenyell Holmes, and Bryson Owoundi along with a host of great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Geraldine (James) Cameron, Mildred King, and Anthony (Angela) Waiters; Sister-in-law Julia Ann West; Godmother Helen Daniels; Friends; Maxine Hill, Barbara Bryant, and Felicia Gardner; Lifelong friend Kenny Grant; Special cousin Sheniqua Gardner; Neighbor Mr. Frankie Gatlin and a host of nieces and nephews. Jerome cherished his family and friends deeply, and they were his greatest pride.
Jerome's spirit was a beacon of love and kindness and a constant reminder that life is a precious gift. As we reflect on his remarkable journey, we find solace in the memories we shared and the invaluable lessons learned from his unwavering faith and compassion. His legacy and unique spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, guiding us as we carry his memory forward.
