LES DOCKS Les Docks, City of Fashion and Design, opened its doors in April 2012, fusing together designers, artisans, and students. Located on the banks of the Seine, between the Gare d'Austerlitz and Bibliothèque François Mitterrand, the building occupies the site of an old industrial warehouse for the Port of Paris. Built around the turn of the century, it served as a depot to store goods brought up the Seine by barge and now has been recreated as a collaborative space with shops, cafes, and exhibition spaces. In 2000, Parisian authorities organized a design competition to revitalize the site. Architects Jakob + MacFarlane decided to use the existing structure as the foundation and with inspiration from the movement and flow of the Seine, covered the structure with a green tubular system, screen-printed and undulating, giving the site its originality. With the installation of the new glass skin, called the plug-over, this system enables free movement of people to new destinations within the building. This place is home to the French Institute of Fashion, shops and showrooms of designers and temporary exhibitions, including those outside the walls of the MusÊe Galliera. Busy dining areas, lounge bars and nightclubs bring together the young, creative crowds surrounding Les Docks. For unrivaled views of the Seine waterfront, visitors are invited to discover the rooftop terrace, planted by landscape architect Michel Desvignes. As planned, Les Docks is continuously transforming itself by the venues offered, the events presented, and the designers exhibited. Bringing Paris back to the waterfront, new artists, up and coming designers, and innovative products are constantly coming through Les Docks, bringing together fashion, art, and design.

TRIBUS INTERNATIONAL Tribus International is a global, multi-practice architectural firm with offices located in various parts of the world. This includes Dubai, South Africa, and Atlanta. Started in 1997, the founders Joyce Saiete, Dana Al Senan and Olisa Agulu came together, bonding over a desire for a new architectural landscape in the bleak cityscape of Atlanta, Georgia. After a short period of working and designing in their home region, they branched out on a national and global level, reaching out to the countries of their own individual cultures. The team specializes in design generated by movement and context and explores relationships between the human scale and the forms that impact it. They have a significant interest in creating unique, idiosyncratic compositions that are both aesthetically engaging and practical for multitudes of use. They have designed acclaimed structures around the world, in both metropolitan areas and suburban environments. The firm is well recognized for its commissioned work with high profile museums such as PS1 in New York City. Tribus is currently involved with architectural teams designing the new addition to the Louvre museum, located in Abu Dhabi.

PROLIFERATION Tribus International is proud to present its new project Proliforation, adjacent to Les Docks. The interior is the offspring of the circulatory forces stored within the exterior envelope. Therefore the forms curvilinearity is replicated both inside and out. the form takes on the program of a major gallery space with inclusion for a small retail store and office space. The strands torn from the bridge into the exterior facade are then torn from the facade into the interior space, creating a ramp which leads from the ground to the roof terrace. By depressing the elevated strands which form the roof, the terrace allows for pedestrians to enjoy the river Seine from an elevated and unobstructed view. Spaces include open gallery areas for permanent fashion illustration installations. Retail space for select products and fashion items as well as office spaces for employee use. Storage and restroom space are also included for costumer use. Spaces include open gallery areas for permanent fashion illustration instalations. retail space for fashion books and prints of exhibited illustrations. It also contains office spaces that will be housing Authority Int'l. There is also additional space that will be used by both the gallery and the store for storage

Our speciality is representing fashion illustrators a very specific group of artists and designers whose artwork falls into a unique category. The theme for our first exhibition will be Americans in Paris it will show case classic American fashion illustrator's work, along with contemporary illustrators. Occasionally, established artisans exhibited in the galleries will be featured in the space for special lectures, book signings, and workshops. The idea came about after visiting Les Docks Cite de la Mode et du Design. After meeting some faculty and students, we realized how much we would like to provide a space to help educate them-along with the public. We noticed that in Paris, there was not a venue that exhibits fashion illustrations. In the world capitol of fashion, and in a space adjacent to a fashion design school, we saw the perfect opportunity to contribute to the community.

AUTHORITY PRESENTS MODELER AT PROLIFERATION Authority International is pleased to announce the genesis of Modeler Gallerie, on the River Seine. The opening reception will be held at the galleries’ permanent location in the Proliferation project on November 16th 2013 at 6:30 pm. Modeler is showing the first comprehensive collection of classic and contemporary fashion illustration in Paris. The exhibition – organized by Nikolas Hakanson and Ankita Patel for the gallery space in Proliferation – will be in two parts, a permanent exhibition and a featured artist every 6 months. The permanent space features acclaimed illustrators such as Kenneth Paul Block, Tony Viramontes, and Gladys Perint Palmer. The purpose of Modeler is to bring to the public the underappreciated art of fashion illustration. Modeler is the French term meaning style, model, and fashion. The word itself embodies the aura of the exhibition. The genesis of Modeler occurred through the collaboration between Authority International and Tribus International. The two firms saw the opportunity to create a complementary structure and space to mold a stylistically presented exhibition of illustrations from the fashion industry. They worked closely together to design a refreshing space for the public to come and absorb this little-known cultural treasure. The exhibition, sponsored in co-part with the Palais Galliera and Vogue Paris, will also recognize the launch of the companion commemorative book – published by Phaidon – detailing the history of fashion illustration, and major and contemporary artists in the field, most of which will be exhibited in the gallery. This inaugural event is expected to be attended by some of the most pristigious figures in the fashion industry, such as Carine Roitfeld, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Ralph Rucci, André Leon Talley, and Suzy Menkes. These honored guests are no stranger to these renowned illustrators; having themselves and their work interpreted on multiple occasions in the pages of esteemed global publications. We look forward to continuing our great relationships with sponsors, designers, press, and all of our fans—and with only 3 days until show time, our staff has kicked into full gear. Directors Ankita Patel, Nikolas Hakanson, and along with the staff of Autorité and Proliferation, are committed to making this year's production one that goes down in history.
