SOFT LANDSCAPE Removal: 5 Trees Retention: 57 Trees

Relocation: 10 Trees

Removed formwork to be used as base layers for proposed steps

Removed gabion walls to be reused if in good condition or the stones contained within it can be re-used in other gabion elements

Notes: Hardscape: The stones collected from the removed formwork to be used in interior side of the gabion walls or as a base layer fill in the proposed design element. This should be in coordination with the structural consultant's calculations and specifications. Softscape: Most of the plant species have been retained in the proposed design scheme. Mature trees on the site remain as before, only some of the semi mature species have been relocated to the places where other trees are already existing. A few tree species have been removed from the proposed plan due to their invasive nature such as Rubus fruticosa.

Plant type 2: Community gathering lawn space

AREA 1

Area 2.1 Grass (89.5%)

Plant type 1: Planter green at the entrance Area 1.1 Annuals-Biennials (2 planters) Antirrhinum majus 'La Bella Yellow' (25%) Begonia semperflorens 'Big Red Bronze Leaf' (25%) Helichrysum microphyllum 'Silver Mist' (25%) Lobelia erinus pendula 'Fountain White' (25%) Area 1.2 Wild flowers (9 planters) Anthemis arvensis (25%) Anthyllis vulneraria (25%) Clinopodium vulgare (50%) Area 1.3 Herbs (5 planters) Galium odoratum (50%) Thymus citriodorus (50%)

Description of Planting style: Annuals and biennials to be planted in the front planter box, to generate an interest while keeping up with the Brooks campus's existing colour concept, a mix of 50 percent white, 25 percent red, and 25 percent yellow flowers were chosen. To keep the ornamental species on the front side of the terraced lawn, wildflowers are chosen for the planters groundcover. The planters in the orchard have mix of herbs and grass

Plant type 4: Landscape depression area-Swale Area 4.1 Wetland grass (55%)

Plant type 6: Woodland Mix 2 Area 6.1 Herbs + Grass (47.64%)

2.1.a Existing Grass cover to be retained (70%)

Area 4.2 Marginal aquatic (45%)

Thymus vulgaris

Anthoxanthum odoratum (20%) Dactylis glomerata (40%) Area 2.2 Blubs (8.8%) Hyacinthoides Non-scripta Area 2.3 Wild flower (1.7%) Rhinanthus minor

Description of Planting style: The existing grass cover will be retained upto 70%. A mix of bulbs, wildflower and mix-meadow grass should help in breaking the monotony that is at the present in the terraced lawn. This would also give more of a natural feel to the existing landscape

Juncus conglomeratus

Iris pseudacorus Acorus gramineus 'Variegatus Mentha aquatica Description of Planting style: Swales that is running along the longer edge of the site will have a combination of marginal aquatics and wet grasses. An interesting combination of both planted around the stones' edge and in the swales will make it look appealing, at the same time allowing drainage to happen

Plant type 5: Wet Woodland Mix 1 Area 5.1 Marginal aquatics (43.4%) Acorus gramineus 'Variegatus Mentha aquatica

Plant type 3: Shaded-Silent Space Area 3.1 Grass (64.5%) 2.1.a Existing Grass cover to be retained (70%) 2.1.b Inclusion of mix Meadow grass (30%) Agrostis capillaris (40%) Anthoxanthum odoratum (20%) Dactylis glomerata (40%) Area 3.2 Shrub plantation (15.7%) Corylus avellana Arbutus unedo Area 3.3 Herbaceous cover (19.8%) Galium odoratum Rosmarinus officinalis Thymus citriodorus Description of Planting style: Adjacent to the community gathering space at the entrance of the Area, this silent space will be more like an intimate space for the users. This space is edged with the shrub along the proposed pathway and trees at the site's border.

Area 5.2 Wetland Grasses (56.6%) Anthoxanthum odoratum (20%) Phalaris arundinacea Juncus conglomeratus Holcus lanatus Description of Planting style: Planting to be done in naturalistic style. As all the mature existing trees have been retained, with only invasive species removed, this space only required a combination of wetland grasses and marginal aquatics along along the edges of the bio pond.

Agrostis capillaris (40%) Holcus lanatus Area 6.2 Wildflower + Grass (33.67%) Malva sylvestris Anthyllis vulneraria Clinopodium vulgare Anthemis arvensis

DRAWING REFERENCE DESCRIPTION DISC. REV. STAGE NO.

DATE

Agrostis capillaris (40%) Holcus lanatus

Area 6.3 Shrubs (18.69%) Buxus sempervirens Viburnum lantana Description of Planting style: While Shrubs would border the pathway and seats, the mix of grasses, wildflowers and herbs would cover the sloping green. This inclusion of herb and wildflowers in Area A goes with the sensory garden theme as well.
