Sketchbook Nr. II This is my second sketchbook, filled between May and October 2007. I found little time to do any actual artwork, but to “exercise my right brain I decided to sketch whenever I could instead. The sketches are made whenever I had the chance to pick up my pen. Most drawings have been made in Finland, but a large portion of
the drawings are made either while traveling in Hungary or Israel. My cryptic scrawls are written in Swedish, Finnish, and English. Some sketches and drawings are from a drawing class for children during the calm moments when the youngsters stopped fidgeting and temporarily lost themselves in their own drawings.
There are doodles made at a cafĂŠ while waiting for a familiar face or my hot chocolate. To make time pass more quickly, I developed the habit of sketching while on the bus or the plane. I visited museums, and almost all of them banned photography. To get around this frustrating blockade to inspiration, I whipped out my handy-dandy sketchbook
and pens instead. I have mostly used grey-toned felt tip pens and a permanent black marker, but also indian ink, a dark pencil, colored pencils, colored markers, a white gel pen, and poster paints. I hope you enjoy my doodles at least partially as much as I enjoyed making them. -Ann-Mi-
