e continually played with contrast in his works, constantly trying to find a new and extreme ways to build his collections and often talking about wanting to portray an “out of this world” experience in his
designs. These “other worlds” were depicted through aggressive themes such as witchcraft, rape and capital punishment both on the runway and in his designs. Alexander McQueen blurred the boundaries between runway shows and a new kind of installation art. His shows are known for their emotional power and raw energy, as well as the romantic but determinedly contemporary nature of the collections. Integral to the McQueen culture are contrasting elements such as fragility and strength, tradition and modernity and fluidity and severity. Alexander’s collections combine working knowledge of bespoke British tailoring, the fine workmanship of the French Haute Couture atelier and the impeccable finish of Italian manufacturing. In less than 10 years McQueen became one of the most respected fashion designers in the world. The collections include women’s ready-to-wear, men’s ready-to-wear, accessories, eyewear and fragrance. Expansion followed and included the opening of flagship stores in New York, London, Milan, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

fter his death, Sarah Burton stepped in as creative director. She has shown remarkable talent and is similar to McQueen himself when it comes to creative eye and vision for designs. Her latest collection
Autumn/winter 2014 shows just how talented she is. The new collection proposes vintage design and fabrics such as fur, velvet, feathers, brocade, embroidery and tulle. The result of all these details is a striking mix of baroque and eccentric that symbolizes the unique style of Alexander McQueen. This collection takes us into a world of contemporary and medieval fairy tale at the same time (Fashionbashon., 2014).

he most popular and recognisable TVseries on the market today is the award
winning Game of Thrones. Set in a fantasy world of giants, dragons and magic the show’s costumes are nothing short of spectacular. The women’s costumes, extravagant down to the smallest detail, draw influence from Japanese and Persian culture evoking a sense of medieval, renaissance and baroque splendour. The colour range is turquoise, light grey, green, mahogany and purple. Most of the dresses are embroidered with some symbols; flowers, peacocks or dragons. The dresses have corsets or big waist belts of some sort.

in black and white, and often nude, but always high fashion. One can say that is photography is a lesson in storytelling, whether told through facial expressions, billowing dresses, exotic locations or simple studio set-ups. He shoots for Oyster, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, and more — and always outshining the competition with his coloring and lighting expertise. His visual creativity and his former works make him the perfect photographer for this subject. His vision and out of the box ideas will only enhance the look and push the idea further.

The editorial will be shot in the green areas such as fields and woods in Iceland. Also some of the photospread will take place on glaciers in Iceland; to portray the cold and harsh environments that serve a big role in the episodes. To show and demonstrate the rustic, medieval atmosphere from the series, some of the photos will be shoot indoors in old castles around Northern Ireland. This collaboration will demonstrate the seriousness and the dark side of this medieval fairy tail and also portray a dark side of a fantasy world. The look of the models would be cold and dark, portraying the hardship of the existence in the show. Horses and wolves would be shown in the photos, as those animals serve big roles in the TV series.
