1. In the “Print” dialogue box under “General” settings, choose “Cruess 205 - Xerox 3600” and under “Options,” click “Print Blank Pages.” In “Setup,” under “Options,” click the button next to “Scale,” and make sure “Width” and “Height” are both set to “100%.” Next, choose “Centered” from the drop-down menu for “Page Position.”

In “Marks and Bleed,” choose “Crop Marks.” Now click on “Page Setup” in the
lower left corner. Under “Format for,” select “Cruess 205 - Xerox 3600.”

Double check the “Format for” setting. If it says “Any Printer,” your pages will not back up properly. Click “OK,” once you have set this to “Cruess 205 - Xerox 3600.”

4. In the “Print” dialogue box, click on “Printer” (next to “Page Setup”). Check to be sure that the “Cruess 205 - Xerox 3600” printer is selected. Under “Two-sided,” choose either “Short-edge binding” or “Long-edge binding” as appropriate for your book. The wrong option here means the back side of your printout will be upside down. Run a test of 4 to 6 pages and fix this setting if necessary.

If your test prints look good — crop marks are registering back to back, pages print in the correct orientation, type looks good, images are not pixelated — you’re ready for a final print on good paper. Check with the lab monitor to be sure the high-quality paper I purchased from OfficeMax is loaded, then click “Print.”
